Chapter 24 Sun Moon Mountain Range 8
“Miss, there are survivors here,” Yilin pointed out, gesturing toward a young man who lay on the ground, injured but still conscious.
Hearing this, Yemo approached the young man and verified that he was indeed alive and awake, albeit wounded.
Yemo looked down at him with a condescending expression. “Give me the beast core of the Flame Lion, and I’ll save you.”
The young man, however, appeared defiant. “Don’t even think about it. We fought hard to defeat the Flame Lion, and many people have lost their lives. How can I just hand over the beast core? I need it to save my sister, who’s been poisoned by the Yinblood Grass and requires a fire-type beast core to counteract the poison.”
“What makes you think I can help?” Yemo raised an eyebrow, curious.
The young man explained, “I overheard your conversation earlier. You mentioned that you have a fire-type beast core. If you’re willing to save my sister, I’ll give you the Flame Lion’s core.”
“Where is your sister?” Yemo asked, showing a hint of interest. “I can save both of you, but the beast core must be given to me.”
The young man hesitated but then replied, “My sister is not far from here.”
“Can you really save my sister?” The young man inquired, his condition worsening, making it seem as though he might not survive much longer.
Yemo smiled confidently, “Yilin, give him a pill. I can’t stand talking to someone out of breath like this.”
Yiluo, who was standing nearby, couldn’t help but burst into laughter at Yemo’s words. The injured young man’s expression grew even more pale and dismal.
Yilin approached the young man, holding out a pill, and instructed him to take it.
Yiluo walked over to the Flame Lion’s corpse and retrieved the beast core. As she held it, she could feel its intense heat. Fire-type beast cores were indeed different.
Taking the beast core from Yiluo, Yemo pondered for a moment. She looked at Yiluo and said, “Let’s store this beast core for now. I don’t want to reveal my secrets in front of this young man.”
Yiluo understood the situation and nodded. There were storage rings on this continent, but they were relatively rare. Yemo’s Phoenix ring, on the other hand, was not only a storage ring but also a transformable weapon.
After securing the beast core, Yemo took out a small porcelain bottle and applied some medicine to the young man’s injuries. She then looked at Yiluo and commented, “You should be more careful next time. This fire-type beast core is not the same as a wind-type one.”
Yiluo, feeling touched by Yemo’s care, silently wiped off the medicine and looked at her with admiration.
To Yiluo, Yemo was a kind-hearted person. She couldn’t comprehend why people often labeled her as aloof.
Speaking of indifference…
Yemo’s brother, Ye Zheng, was far colder than she was.
He had used Yemo as a sacrifice in his pursuit of promotion and wealth.
Thinking of Ye Zheng, Yiluo couldn’t help but feel anger bubbling within her.
After applying the medicine, Yiluo put away the small porcelain bottle and turned her gaze to the young man. She noticed that he had stood up and was now approaching the Flame Lion’s corpse.
Upon seeing that the beast core was missing, the young man appeared visibly upset.
Yiluo, observing his displeased expression, couldn’t help but smile wryly. “Don’t look at us like that. Consider this: if our lady hadn’t saved you, even if you had the beast core, you wouldn’t be alive now. Furthermore, our lady promised to save your sister, so we won’t take the beast core without fulfilling our end of the bargain.”
