Enjoy Things While You Can

Chapter 2: Kokomi's hardwork

"Kokomi! Come here and help me out with the jukebox!" Beyond yelled.

"But I need to finish sorting the records!" Kokomi protested.

Kokomi was a college student with soft black curls and tanned skin. Her eyes were brown and the eyelids were hooded, a snub nose, and her face was round with some chubby cheeks. Her lips were small but rounded, her cheeks made it look like they were always pouting. She was currently sorting the array of new records that had been delivered to the store.

"You can do it later! A client's gonna consider buying it, so we need to make it look like a million bucks," Beyond explained as he walked out of the back room with a wet cloth in hand.

"You're saying bucks like our currency doesn't exist. We use 'ringgit' Beyond, 'RINGGIT'," Kokomi explained.

"Yeah, I know that I'm just making it sound expensive," Beyond stated.

Beyond was an older guy in his late twenties with a neat hairstyle parted by the side. His hair was straight and black. His eyes were monolith-shaped with dark brown pupils. He worked full-time in the music store, helping out with whatever was in his repertoire, which was everything of course.

Kokomi sighed got up from her kneeling position and proceeded towards the back room. Santoro's Music Store was understaffed, so Kokomi had to cover a lot of shifts. The store was filled to the brim with all kinds of music records, DVDs, and posters galore. Mostly classics, of course.

He's lucky I'm working for the money because I really need the extra cash to continue studying, Kokomi thought as she began polishing the jukebox.

A male figure walked into the backroom and gave a slight nod to Kokomi who nodded back. The figure proceeded to sit by the drum set that was near the back wall and pulled out his drumsticks from the satchel he carried in. That was Simon, a guy, also in his late twenties. He had medium-length brown hair tied into a low ponytail with almond-shaped eyes. He also had a built body same as Beyond, and the right energy for a drummer.

"Are they tuned, Simon?," Kokomi inquired as she continued to polish the old jukebox.

Simon positioned himself properly and began stepping on the bass drum. Whilst the bass drum was in beat, he began hitting the snare drum with his left drumstick in one beat and his right drumstick hit the hi-hat cymbal in a faster beat. The beats he produced; the crashing from the hi-hat to the low boom of the bass all lined up in one tempo in sync.

He then stopped and turned towards Kokomi.

"Yep, the tune is on point," Simon said.

Kokomi nodded and then continued on working.

After she's done, it's time to prepare for the evening because a special chance awaits in the basement of the store.

"Are you studying hard or hardly studying, Koko?," Beyond asked.

"I wouldn't be helping you if I was barely studying. I'll already be kicked out from Uni if I fail," Kokomi remarked as she polished her blue bass guitar.

Santoro's Music Store will be having a jam session in their underground live house. Of course, not many know of this, so only a few tickets were sold.

"You're singing tonight, right?" Simon, their drummer, asked.

"You bet, I'm gonna be singing a classic," Kokomi replied.

"Go easy on our new pianist, by the way," Beyond said while setting down his violin bow and then proceeded to clean his trumpet's mouthpiece.

"Of course we will; we can't afford to lose another one after that fiasco," Simon emphasized.

"Yes, yes, I still remember that. Ugh, ruined the entire night," Beyond said.

It will definitely be a special night.
