Chapter 62 - Balance of Wishes
After School [Student Council Room]
Contrary to what animes portray, places like the student council aren’t really neat and tidy. There’re papers everywhere, piles on the floor, on the tables… you named it.
The bookshelves were filled with binders dating years back. All of them from previous presidents. The room was quiet, only the sound of boiling water and multiple clicks from either mechanical pencils or from keyboards could be heard.
Working diligently, four students were at their respective posts. Suddenly, the door swung open with great force.
“Yours truly has arrived!” Standing by the door, a boy with black hair and obsidian eyes excitedly announced his arrival.
“How many times do I have to tell you to stop swinging the door?!” The current president, Tomokazu Tenjou, reprimanded.
“You give me a headache…” Seichiiro Amagi, the secretary, stopped organizing some papers and said in an annoyed voice.
“Now, now~ Don’t be annoyed! Rather, shouldn’t you praise yours truly~?” (Ichirou)
“And why exactly?” Tomokazu demanded.
Ichirou’s smile widened and in a proud voice, declared. “Well, I was playing P*kem*n on the way here and I got a rare one!” (Ichirou)
“Segawa. To the point… pretty please?” The vice-president Hanako Kaneko would’ve liked to continue playing around with everyone, unfortunately, she had work to get done.
“Then~ In P*ked*x number #505 I present to you the Ghost type, Kei Ichinose!” Another handsome boy appeared at the door. Well… rather than ‘appear’ he was pulled by the collar of his shirt.
“S-sup, sis…” He awkwardly waved.
“Eh? Kei?” Kei’s older sister, the treasurer Kotone, looked confused at his brother’s sudden appearance.

Kei’s POV~
After Ichirou’s honor-demanding introduction, I turned my attention to President Tenjou and informed him of the reason for my visit.
At least that’s what I wanted to do until a certain someone approached me.
“If it isn’t the man of the hour himself, purple guy! Damn you really caused a ruckus this mornin’.” (Sei)
“It’s nice to see you too, Seichiiro.” (Kei)
“Unn. Unn!” Seichiiro excitedly nodded as he slapped Kei’s back, of course, it hurt for the latter but he kept quiet.
“Anyways, what can I help you with? Could it be because of that?” (Tomokazu)
“Yes. Back then I had a lot on my plate, however I am completely done with all I had to do. So that’s why I came here to accept the offer of the position for the student council. Once again, Kei Ichinose, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” His greeting was polite and dazzling, just like his mother Kaho taught him.
General Affairs Officer – Kei Ichinose [1-A]
“I see, I see. I knew you wouldn’t disappoint me. Then, once again. Tomokazu Tenjou, student council president. Looking forward to it.” (Tomokazu)
Student Council President – Tomokazu Tenjou [3-B]
“You never disappoint me, purple guy! I’m looking forward to working with you!” (Seichiiro)
“Seems you made a choice, my Kei really is growing up!” (Kotone)
Secretary – Seichiiro Amagi [2-B]
Treasurer – Kotone Ichinose [2-B]
“Last time you were here I couldn’t introduce myself properly. I’m the vice-president for the student council, third-year Hanako Kaneko. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” A girl with pastel white hair, a gentle aura and pastel pink eyes greeted me with a bow.
After her, Ichirou once again talked to me. “Then, Kei. I look forward to seeing what you can do! Let’s work hard!” He shook my hand with glittering eyes.
Student Council Vice-President – Hanako Kaneko [3-B]
Intermediator – Ichirou Segawa [1-A]
With the introductions in order, I was now officially part of the student council.

“You know… I never thought my position would be too demanding… but boy was I wrong…” (Kei)
“Fufu. When we get busy we rarely have time to organize things around here.” Hanako explained.
“Hana’s right. We wish we could be able to organize the mess we tend to make but there are times where we’re strictly on a deadline.” (Tomokazu)
“What is this, a black company?!” It’s been three days since I joined the student council. I was amazed by the unorganization the council has.
Ichirou and my sister were currently out in a meeting with some club presidents about their budgets. As for Seichiiro, well… he’s probably with Kokoro.
“Alright then, give me fifteen minutes and I may be able to somehow fix things.” I said as I took off my blazer and put it on a nearby chair.
What makes a room organized isn’t just making it look tidy, nor is it about making it empty due to everything being stored away. Separating a room by sections in which you store certain things, making it more efficient to go day by day., makes a room both organized and helps improve morale as the working environment is clean and neat.
That’s why I tend to be meticulous about my working spaces.
The first thing I noticed was the piles of papers they had, they were a stack for both checked and pending documents. I searched through the cabinets and found two unused tea trays.
I plot them both side by side on a side table and label them with adhesive notes as ‘Checked’ and ‘Pending’, once done I organize them on their respective nodes.
I also reorganized the unused tables taking advantage of the fact that it was only Tomokazu, Hanako and me in the room. The new arrangement made it easier to walk around and less likely for the papers to be a trouble.
I rearranged the corner where the boiler and the arrangement of tea bags and coffee beans were, making it a less crowded space. I spent about twenty minutes more organizing the room and once I was done, I turned back to the five of them who were all in the room.
“Then. What do you think?” (Kei)

“And apparently, they really liked the rearrangement. Ichirou was crying tears of joy because he didn’t need to search around for minutes to find something.” I somehow felt proud as I retold the events of today to Arisa.
“You’re one of the only people I know that enjoy reorganizing.” (Arisa)
“Is that so? Organizing is fun, though! It should have its own holiday!” (Kei)
“Maybe it has. Who knows?” Arisa said as she sipped on her tea.
“You think so?” I tilted my head.
“There are holidays for pretty much everything. So I dunno.” She just shrugged it off. We were both done with our little appetizers and drinks, and were thinking about doing something else.
“So, what do we do now?”
“I don’t really mind as long as I’m with you~” (Arisa)
“Your face is red.” (Kei)
“It’s not! A-anyway, I have no ideas, so why don’t you choose?” (Arisa)
“Hmm…” I pondered for a moment, then a certain place came to mind. “Arcade?” I asked.
“Arcade.” Arisa’s eyes immediately started sparkling, she quickly stood up with clear excitement. Though I tried to stop her, at least until I was done with the bill.
Maybe I’m getting another trauma today? Nah, as long as it’s with my girlfriend then it’s bound to be a fond memory.
