Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Weaving in Holographic Combat!
"Dropped by the monsters," Lin Tianhao replied, simultaneously receiving a notification that nine thousand had been deposited into his account.
"Whoa, Snow Emperor, do you know some kind of monster-luring spot? Somewhere you can farm level 10 monsters without taking damage?" Floating Mountain asked, his voice laced with disbelief.
It was understandable. Lin Tianhao was only level three; there was no way he could fight level 10 monsters head-on.
"No," Lin Tianhao responded curtly, then ignored Floating Mountain and continued his grind.
Seeing the ring in his inventory, Floating Mountain grinned. "So you're not going to tell me, huh? I'll just find it myself."
The level 10 monsters were Twisted Treants—information the Floating Mountain Guild's exploration team had discovered as soon as the game launched. It didn't take Floating Mountain long to reach the Treant spawn area.
There, he saw an archer fighting the monsters.

…
Floating Mountain's eyes widened. At this stage of the game, who could possibly deal 426 damage with a single arrow? Even the elites in his guild, with their current equipment, barely broke one hundred attack power.
Lin Tianhao's damage output, over four hundred against monsters several levels higher, was simply astonishing.
"Snow Emperor!" Floating Mountain called out, practically begging. Due to some real-life issues, he'd started the game late and was now far behind. This was unacceptable for someone who was used to dominating every game he played.
"Snow Emperor, how about we team up? You can take me leveling. I'll pay," he offered.
Lin Tianhao initially intended to ignore him. He didn't want to waste time. But then he thought of his sister lying in the hospital, and he changed his mind.
"I can, but I want three hundred thousand," he stated.
"Three hundred thousand?" Floating Mountain nearly exploded. Thirty thousand to get him to level 10? He could hire a power-leveling group for a fraction of that, maybe twenty thousand at most.
"I'll get you to level 10 by the end of today," Lin Tianhao added.
Floating Mountain was taken aback. He looked at Lin Tianhao with suspicion. It was only four in the morning, meaning there were still twenty hours left in the day. But even with no sleep or rest, getting him to level 10 in that time frame seemed impossible.
"Even so, that price is outrageous," he protested. He had the money, but he wasn't about to be ripped off.
"I know it's high. What if I include a full set of level 10 elite-grade equipment?" Lin Tianhao countered.
Floating Mountain's breath hitched. "Snow Emperor, are you serious?"
"Yes." Lin Tianhao's reply was firm. The level 10 elite Treants could indeed drop a full set of equipment. Of course, that required a considerable amount of luck. But with enough grinding, it was achievable.
"Alright, how about I give you a fifty thousand deposit?" Floating Mountain offered.
"No. Three hundred thousand. I want the money upfront."
Floating Mountain hesitated, but seeing Lin Tianhao's incredible grinding speed, he quickly agreed.
"Fine. I'll transfer it to you."
Twilight of the Gods had an in-game transfer function, eliminating the need to exchange bank details. Soon, Lin Tianhao received confirmation of the three hundred thousand transfer.
Money in hand, Lin Tianhao sent a message: "Wait for me."
Then, he hid behind a large tree and logged off.
Floating Mountain was left bewildered. "What the… Did I just get scammed? He took the money and logged off? Seriously? I put my trust in you, and this is how you repay me?"
Floating Mountain wasn't short on cash, but he felt like he'd just swallowed a pile of dirt.
Lin Tianhao, of course, hadn't run off. Now that he had the money, his first priority was to get it to the hospital for his sister's surgery.
Looking at Lin Qingqing lying in the hospital bed, Lin Tianhao clenched his fists. He would make up for the regrets of his past life.
After paying the medical fees, Lin Tianhao hurried back to his rented apartment and logged back into the game.
Back in the newbie village, Floating Mountain was miserably grinding level 4 Wind Wolves with a few other players.
Suddenly, a message popped up in his friend list: "Level 10 Twisted Treants. Come here."
Floating Mountain was stunned. He'd assumed Lin Tianhao had taken the money and run. He hadn't expected him to return.
"Alright!" he replied instantly. Despite having cursed Lin Tianhao's ancestors in his mind, he eagerly rushed to the Treant spawn location.
Without wasting words, Lin Tianhao sent a party invite and set the loot distribution to only allow himself to pick up items.
Floating Mountain hesitated but decided not to argue.
But then, he noticed something outrageous: the experience distribution… 90/1!
Lin Tianhao was taking 90% of the experience, leaving him with a measly 1%!
"Snow Emperor, is… is the experience distribution set wrong?" he asked tentatively.
"No." Lin Tianhao replied, then immediately began fighting.

…
Five arrows per Treant. Even with his current attack speed, Lin Tianhao was killing one every ten seconds, at least six per minute. That was three hundred and sixty per hour!
Moreover, Lin Tianhao's health continued to climb.
Floating Mountain watched in stunned silence as Lin Tianhao effortlessly mowed down the Treants.
If Lin Tianhao had simply had high damage, he might have assumed he'd found some hidden equipment or early access to a powerful talent.
But it was Lin Tianhao's weaving technique, his "kiting," that truly amazed him. The Treants couldn't even get close before being dispatched.
Don't assume that kiting is easy in a full-dive VR game. Floating Mountain, being part of the Floating Mountain Guild, knew that kiting was much harder here than in traditional games.
Movement, drawing the bow, aiming, and firing—these were four distinct steps. Any hesitation or clumsiness in one would make the entire process feel stiff and awkward. Even the top archers in his guild were still struggling to master it.
"This is… art," Floating Mountain murmured, activating his recording function to capture Lin Tianhao's kiting. He planned to send it to the guild's elite archers for study.
Lin Tianhao, however, wasn't concerned with such things. Kiting was second nature to him, so much so that he barely considered it a skill.
"Snow Emperor, what was your previous ID? With kiting like that, you can't have been a nobody," Floating Mountain asked.
"Kiting? Isn't that just basic stuff?" Lin Tianhao replied instinctively.
In the era of the Great Calamity, almost every archer could do this. The real challenges for archers were infinite critical hits and crowd control.
Achieving 100% critical hit rate, or infinite critical hits, through stats alone was impractical. But specific attack techniques could achieve it. Even with only a 5% critical hit rate, infinite critical hits were possible.
That was the power of striking vital spots!
Attacking the Twisted Treant's core, a humanoid monster's head or heart—these critical locations significantly increased the chance of a critical hit.
As for crowd control, that was the most difficult skill for archers, especially in large-scale battles.
But Lin Tianhao wasn't in the mood to explain all that to Floating Mountain. He continued his relentless hunt, moving further into the Treant spawn area. Normal Treants didn't provide enough experience. To get Floating Mountain to level 10 within a day, he needed to focus on the elite Treants.
While Lin Tianhao was hunting, Floating Mountain sent the recorded video to their guild leader, Floating Divine Wolf.
The guild leader was currently leveling, but he received the video from Floating Mountain.
"I'm trying to level here. What's with the video?" he grumbled.
"Guild Leader, just watch it. You're in for a surprise," Floating Mountain replied.
