Exiled Young Girl’s Territory Development Record: The Result of the Villainous Young Lady Who Was Exiled Before the Scenario Began and Did Whatever She Wanted for the People.

Chapter 19: The Exiled Young Girl Welcomes the Merchant

July arrived. In just a little over a month, all the goblin skeletons had been created, and the total number of goblin skeletons had increased to an impressive 137.

In fact, there are now more skeletons than there are villagers.

Despite this, the villagers don’t seem to have any particular aversion to the skeletons and appear to view them quite favorably.

Perhaps it’s because the skeletons are working tirelessly day and night in place of the injured villagers.

Also, it seems there is currently no particular need for replenishing my magical power.

It seems that physical labor doesn’t use much magical power. This remains a bit of a mystery.

Thanks to the skeletons, the deforestation around the village has been completed, and now they are working on digging a moat on the northwestern side of the village, which has many monsters. Additionally, I heard that the third field in the forest has been cleared and beet cultivation has begun.

By the way, the injured villagers are gradually becoming able to work again, and just recently, Will has happily returned to his duties in the militia.

As for me, while being taught various things by Marie, I am occupied with paperwork as a lord.

“Marie, how’s the waterwheel issue? We need to fix it soon.”

The waterwheel, destroyed in the recent goblin attack, is an essential infrastructure for the village’s flour milling. Without it, even if we harvest wheat, we can’t mill it, and thus can’t make bread or pasta.

All village facilities are technically the property of Baron Scarletford, which means the villagers would normally need to pay to use them, but we aren’t charging fees at the moment.

Moreover, it would be pointless to charge fees since there’s no money to collect.

“I’d like to do that, but I found out that we can’t produce the parts within the village, so we need to purchase them from outside. However, the budget…”

“Budget, huh? How much do we have left now?”

“After gathering up the spare change, we found a total of one Scherang.”

“What? Only that?”

“Yes. Will and the others have spent all the money they had…”

*Sigh*

I let out a big sigh.

It was a bit of a haphazard situation, and it’s not surprising that Will and the others couldn’t manage the calculations properly.

“Buying from outside will be quite costly, won’t it?”

“Yes.”

“However, the village doesn’t have money, does it?”

“Yes.”

*Sigh*

I sighed again.

“Is the millstone okay?”

“Yes, but the waterwheel part is broken.”

“Hmm. What to do… Should we try to handle it ourselves, even if it’s a long shot?”

“By the way, when is the merchant supposed to arrive?”

“Yes.”

“Well, let’s ask them when they get here.”

“Yes…”

“What’s wrong? You look so glum.”

“It’s just that I’m worried about how much they’ll try to charge us…”

“Huh? Is this merchant really that infamous?”

“From what I’ve heard, they’ve been quite notorious. However, this is a remote area…”

“What do you mean?”

“I think it’s because there is no competition here. Merchants tend to charge as much as they can when they know there’s no alternative.”

“Really? But since we don’t have any other options, let’s at least hear them out. If it seems impossible, we’ll think of another way.”

“Yes.”

“Alright, then. Next we…”

And so, I continued with Marie on the paperwork.

The merchant arrived three days after our discussion.

Accompanied by the fully recovered Will, the merchant’s representative arrived to greet us. The merchant was a tall man with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a fox-like face with a mustache, and had a refined demeanor.

“Well, well, nice to meet you. I am Bolta from the Tarclay Trading Company’s Clarinton branch. Please, allow me to introduce myself, charming young lady.”

Bolta greeted us in a very pretentious manner and stepped forward to take my hand, but Marie sharply slapped his hand away.

“How dare you! How rude to Baron Scarletford-sama!”

Bolta momentarily glared at Marie with a fierce expression but quickly flashed a smile.

“My sincere apologies. As an apology and a token of acquaintance, please accept this.”

Bolta then offered a glass jar filled with white powder.

“What’s this?”

“This is sugar brought from the southern seas.”

Sugar! Hooray! Sweet things!

…No, wait!

“Thank you for the gift. Will, please place it on the table over there.”

“Certainly.”

Will took the jar of sugar from Bolta and placed it on the table.

“How long do you plan to stay?”

“Yes, we plan to stay for about three days. During this time, we would like permission to set up a shop in the central square.”

“Of course.”

“Thank you.”

“And also,”

“Yes?”

“We have a request.”

“What is it?”

“The waterwheel is broken, and we would like to have it repaired.”

Bolta’s eyes lit up.

“Oh, that’s wonderful! Please leave it to us at the Tarclay Trading Company. We will arrange all the parts and repairs. May we take a look at it first?”

“Yes, of course. Then could you give us a quotation?”

“Certainly. Leave it to us!”

And so, we arranged for Bolta to inspect the broken waterwheel.
