Chapter 359: Chapter 359
A group of people approaching naturally attracted attention.
After the Warrens had just finished chatting with York, they were free to introduce Elis and the others.
"Bishop York, this is Ms. Elis, whom I have mentioned to you," Lorraine began the introduction.
York nodded, looking towards the slightly nervous elderly woman, and said calmly.
"I heard you want to become an external staff member of the church?"
There was no emotion in his voice, nor any fluctuation.
However, Elis's breath sank, revealing her psychological pressure.
"Yes, Bishop York, that's why I sought help from Ms. Lorraine and Mr. Ed...."
The kind elderly woman unexpectedly spilled everything.
Seeing the nervousness of the elderly woman, York smiled, "With your accomplishments, and the Warrens vouching for you, plus the testimonies of the victims of the supernatural incidents you've handled, you indeed qualify."
As he spoke, Elis's expression relaxed and then brightened.
"I can arrange for someone to register you for this matter."
Elis's face showed clear joy, and she smiled respectfully, "Thank you, Bishop York."
The old woman was really surprised; she had thought that the legendary bishop would be very strict, but experiencing it firsthand, he was very kind and gentle, with no pressure nor the heavy presence of a superior.
It could be said that the bishop gave her a refreshing feeling.
"You don't need to add 'sir' anymore; after all, times have changed, and I am not that ignorant," York said lightly, honestly speaking, from the information Lorraine gave him, and the fact that Eileen specifically used the church's channels to investigate all of Elis's data.
He was quite satisfied with this kind-looking and very kind elderly woman.
In this world, it's precisely because of such selfless dedication and concentration on handling supernatural incidents that we now enjoy this peace.
Otherwise, with the vastness of the world and the large number of humans, the daily supernatural incidents are countless, but just one church would definitely be overwhelmed.
"Yes, Bishop York." Elis still maintained her respect, not daring to overstep.
York noncommittally continued to look at the people behind Elis.
Lorraine, standing by, maintained her smile and seeing York's gaze, she continued her introduction.
"Bishop York, this is Ms. Morena."
All eyes turned towards Morena.
When it was her turn, Morena could not hide her nervousness, even though the bishop before her appeared as young as a commoner and lacked any superior's imposing manner.
But the position he represented naturally made her nervous.
"Hello, Ms. Morena."
Seeing Morena, who was made up and didn't know where to place her hands, York showed a priestly smile, gentle.
Of course, he didn't forget to add a bit of holy power to calm her.
Thus, at Morena's end, the voice carried a magic that inadvertently made her relax.
This gave her more courage as she looked at the young bishop before her, her eyes filled with admiration, and she nodded slightly.
"Hello, Bishop York, thank you for coming."
York nodded, then looked at the people behind Morena.
Lorraine's voice followed.
"This is Ms. Riley."
Likewise infected by the atmosphere, Riley was a bit better composed than Morena.
"Bishop York, thank you for accepting my plea, I really... I really don't know how to express it." Riley's voice trembled.
"It's alright." Looking at this somewhat weary woman, York smiled, "A clergy's duty, in essence, is also to serve people. If you seek help, asking at a nearby church will surely bring someone to provide you with assistance."
Unintentionally, York still ended up proselytizing, grooming a potential follower for the church.
Riley nodded repeatedly.
"This is Elis's assistant, Chris and Tuck," Lorraine introduced next.
Chris and Tuck, not daring to breathe heavily, came forward respectfully, "Hello, Bishop York."
"Hello to you too."
York nodded and then looked at the man at the back.
"Bishop York, this is Mr. Josh, Riley's husband."
When it was this man's turn, York habitually narrowed his eyes.
"There's a mark left by someone else on your body."
This statement made Josh swallow back his words that had reached his throat, staring blankly at the young bishop before him.
"Something dares to pry in front of me."
As York said this calmly, he suddenly extended his hand.
Suddenly, a scream filled with terror resounded in everyone's ears.
Josh was completely baffled; he didn't understand what was happening at all.
Not just him, but also Ed, Drew, Morena, Riley, and others who lacked the ability to sense spirits were completely dumbfounded.
Only Elis, Eileen, Hannah, and Lorraine could see what was actually happening.
The moment the bishop extended his hand, he directly gras
ped the throat of a malevolent spirit, as if he had seized all of the spirit's essence.
The spirit was dressed in a woman's bridal gown, complete with a veiled hat, her entire face white, her eyes and lips pitch black.
Seeing its inability to struggle and scream, it was clear that it was being suppressed by the bishop's power.
This sudden appearance, especially for Elis who saw Bishop York for the first time, made her instinctively take a deep breath.
This malevolent spirit was Josh's companion spirit, which also happened to be a malevolent spirit that lusted after Josh's body, as seen in a photograph.
It was also a spirit Elis had seen with her own eyes.
Moreover, most importantly, if she wasn't mistaken, this young bishop had directly intruded into the reality-adjacent world of the deceased, forcibly snatching this deeply hidden malevolent spirit from its lair.
"What kind of power is this?" Elis couldn't understand, but she knew the terrifying extent of this young bishop's abilities.
"Neither male nor female, truly disgusting." York stared at the spirit in his hand, combining psychic and holy powers to immobilize the spirit, which could only stare back at him with fearful eyes, and he spoke calmly.
In his eyes, the spirit could not hide anything, and although it was dressed as a woman, in reality, this spirit was actually a man.
"Hannah, bring over my toy house." Watching the fearful spirit, York glanced at the evil spirit toys, speaking a phrase that the others couldn't understand, then directly stuffed the androgynous spirit into it.
Clearly, some mysterious power instantly formed, suppressing the spirit and forcibly adjusting its ethereal body to match the size of the toys inside.
"This is," York thought, feeling a force different from this world.
In addition to the familiar spatial distortions, there was also a kind of strangeness that could only be felt in unfamiliar worlds.
"A new universe?"
York watched as the toys suddenly moved and surrounded the strange spirit, pulling and tugging it around as a form of punishment, but for the time being, he could only bury these thoughts.
His purpose in coming here was just one: to combine with the sculpting hand, capture more evil spirits, then stuff them into the mysterious toy house, and see what changes might occur.
For York believed that understanding and learning how the power was generated on it might boost his current strength a bit more.
If possible, he would like to master this kind of spatial power.
Just now, he had used his understanding of space to directly intrude into the world of the deceased, following the trail of the mark, and combining telekinesis, spirit communication, and holy power to forcibly snatch this deeply hidden evil spirit back.
This was something the former him could not do, only showing how times have changed.
Traversing between two universe spaces is not a mere traversal; the membranes linking the two universe spaces contain various powers, which he sensed along the way and attempted to analyze their operational principles.
Thinking this, York scanned around.
The actions of the mysterious toy house had already left everyone but Hannah and Eileen, who had seen it before, completely dumbfounded.
"Let's go, take me to see that child." York naturally took the lead.
No one objected.
"Yes, please follow me." Prompted by Lorraine's look, Riley quickly spoke up, then led the way ahead.
York followed, with Hannah and Eileen carrying the mysterious toy house behind him, although Hannah's attention was no longer on the real world, but rather on the toy house where the evil spirit toys were ganging up on the new evil spirit.
As she spoke, everyone snapped back to reality and hurriedly followed, falling in behind Hannah and Eileen.
The group moved inside the house.
York glanced around; in some sense, this house had already become a haunted house, in essence merged into the space of the world of the deceased, with traces of evil spirits left everywhere.
However, while the traces were there, the spirits were not.
"What do you see?" York turned back to Eileen.
Eileen shook her head.
"And you, Hannah."
Upon hearing this, Hannah withdrew her gaze from the battle in the toy house, scanned the layout of the house, and similarly shook her head.
York was not in a hurry, continuing to follow Riley up to the stairs.
But at the moment of stepping upstairs, a magic circle automatically generated, instantly expanding to cover the actual area of the entire house.
The white lines interconnecting emitted a kind of white light, converging around the house to form a protective dome.
This atmosphere cleared all filth, also clearing the house of the aura of the deceased and all the mists of that world.
As mediums, Elis and Lorraine seemed to realize this, glancing at each other.
Lorraine nodded, and Elis involuntarily scanned the house; the spots of contamination she had detected earlier, along with the residual traces of evil spirits and the
aura of the world of the deceased, had vanished without a trace.
One could say the house had finally returned to normal.
Elis took a deep breath, looking towards the broad back of the young bishop; she knew all these changes were his doing, all subtle yet profound.
Finally reaching the second floor, they arrived at the room of the source, Dalton.
Elis also glanced at the ceiling; the strangeness she had felt before had disappeared, no longer bearing the traces of the troublesome spirit from before.
"Indeed, as you said, his soul is lost."
York stood at the foot of the bed looking at the comatose boy, knowing all this with just a glance, and spoke to Lorraine.
"Bishop York, what do you plan to do?" Lorraine asked.
"His vitality is still there; it seems there's no danger yet," York said calmly.
"Mr. Josh, you've experienced these scenes before, right? Who sealed your powers?"
"This..." Josh looked towards Elis.
The old woman quickly stepped forward to explain everything to York, including why she had sealed Josh's abilities.
"I see, that was indeed a good method; you did well," York responded to Elis after understanding, then looked towards Josh.
"Since you also possess the ability of soul projection, and given that Dalton is your child, naturally tied by a bloodline, why not you personally go and find your son?
As for protection, I'll have Sister Eileen protect you. Don't worry, there won't be any issues because I'll be watching."
With his current power, just sensing alone could locate where Dalton was, even making evil flee, but York hadn't forgotten his goal of training Eileen.
Only through battle could one become more familiar with their powers and grow stronger.
Josh didn't reject the proposal; it was already the plan, and he took a deep breath.
"Yes, Bishop York, as you arrange."
"Alright, no need to wait for nightfall; let's settle this small matter now," York took control, effortlessly breaking the seal Elis had placed on Josh's spiritual power.
The two powers collided, and the fragile spiritual power shattered like an egg against rock.
Before Elis could react, Josh's face showed pain as memories flooded back, overwhelming him.
At the same time, he felt a foreign presence in his body, making his vision and surroundings turn surreal.
Just then, a snap of fingers sounded, and a comfortable warmth took over everything, instantly restoring normalcy.
Josh blinked, instinctively looking towards the young bishop before him.
"Everyone sit down."
With York's words, two chairs flew over, everyone stepping aside.
Eileen glanced at Josh and was the first to sit down.
Feeling everyone's gaze, Josh pursed his lips and also sat down.
"Eileen, the soul itself possesses the ability to create illusions; you can use your holy power and your spiritual power to fight, for darkness ultimately fears the light."
Eileen understood and nodded.
"Yes, bishop."
York then looked towards Josh and said, "Once you enter the world of the deceased, you'll feel guided; follow that guidance to find your son and resolve this incident. Leave everything else to Sister Eileen."
Josh's face showed determination as he nodded.
"Alright, have a pleasant journey," York made a rare joke, then snapped his fingers again.
A circle enhancing psychic abilities appeared beneath the chairs they were sitting on, beginning to spin...
