Chapter 8: FAILED HEART
Fred rolled his eyes and gently took Freda's arm away. Yes, he used to crush on her but not anymore, she didn't play the game well, and she felt like she couldn't be replaced but, HELLO.
"Boyfriend snatcher!" Freda called out to Lynn, and Lynn was startled. "If I find out you go to his house, I will tear you into pieces."
Lynn was short of words, she had a million words to say, but she had to swallow them. First, Freda is her senior, and second, she is in her territory.
"Freda, what's wrong with you?" Fred asked calmly.
"she, that bitch is wrong with me" Freda yelled pointing at Lynn.
"Don't call her that again"
"BITCH" she yelled again.
Fred had lost his temper, he adjusted his shirts. All eyes were on them, everyone expecting Fred to react, but he just took Lynn's hand and led her to the junior block.
"I am sorry, she is just…"
"It's okay"
Fred exhaled, "Will come around when school is over? wait for me under the mango tree, do not go home yourself, okay?"
"Okay," she nodded.
All eyes were on them, from the balcony, the glass windows, the food vendor, and the bystanders.
Fred watched her go into her school block and returned to his class.
Freda was in his chair, sobbing. Everyone wanted to see part two.
Fred saw that Derek was not in his chair, he wasn't even in the class, he wondered where he must have gone, but first, he needed to continue his study. He took his book and went to sit on Derek's chair. In less than a minute, Derek came around.
"What did I miss?" Derek asked.
Fred gestured at his chair, and when Derek saw Freda, he burst into laughter.
The physics teacher came into the class. "Everybody settles down!" he exclaimed. Mr. John is a cunny man, he had his way of knowing things, he knew everything happening in the school.
"Today we would be treating a Magnetic Field." he said perambulating "Magnetic field is a region around a magnet in which the influence of a magnet can be felt or detected" He brought out a massive magnet and a metal, then he showed them a practical example of what the magnetic field is.
Meanwhile, Fred's attention was divided. "Fred," Mr. John called.
"Yes sir," Fred replied, as he stood up.
"What is a magnetic field?"
Fred sighed, he shook his head "a magnetic field is an area around a magnet in which the magnet can be felt" Fred struggled to define it.
"You are silly" Mr. John flared.
The whole class was quiet, and Fred said nothing. He knew Mr. John was determined to humiliate him, but he didn't know the day was today.
"Okay, let me explain," Mr. John said, "Magnetic field is just like a region between you and that junior student"
Everyone began to mumble, and some students sneaked out their mobiles and started making a video.
"Quiet please!" Mr. John ordered. "Magnetic field is the space between a magnet and a metal where the influence of the magnet is being felt. Let's say you are the magnet and the junior student is the metal, that force of attraction is called a Magnetic field! Viola!"
Fred patiently waited for Mr. John to finish up, which made everyone surprised. This is not the ill-tempered Fred. Seemed like he went through cold water last night.
"Magnetic field has both magnitude and direction, which is obvious that it's a vector quantity and, in that field, we have James and his crew versus Freda and her crew playing a match to win your attention. What do you think, Fred?" He mocked.
"I think the principal is behind you, sir"
Mr. John looked behind immediately and was petrified. Derek had sneaked out of the class to report.
"Meet me in my office, Mr. John," The principal said and walked away. Mr. John followed and everyone booed him.

School is dismissed, and Fred went straight under the mango tree to pick up Lynn. She wasn't there yet, so he waited.
"You are early," She said standing behind him.
Fred chuckled, "I didn't want to lose you"
Lynn smiled tiredly, "Today was stressful, I need food."
"Okay, we could stop by a restaurant."
As they walked together out of the school, people gossiped about them and it was so obvious.
"I am sorry about early this afternoon" Fred broke the moment of silence.
"It's fine, it was fun. A fun experience"
"fun?"
"Yes, it felt good to be defended by someone you love"
Fred blushed. Someone jumped in between them. "Congratulations guys"
"Stacy" Lynn called out. Stacy was a classmate, she hated the flummery. "Thank you"
"Thanks," Fred said, smiling at Stacy.
"Gosh, you are so handsome" Stacy exaggerated
"Thanks"
Lynn increased her pace and Fred got the message, but Stacy wouldn't just give up.
"I am Stacy," she said innocently.
"He doesn't care about your name, girl" Lynn broke out and pulled Fred away from Stacy.
"That was rude" Fred opined.
"I don't like her," Lynn said, walking fast.
"You should have been a little soft"
"Next time"
They went to the restaurant, had a good meal, and bade their goodbyes.
