Chapter 127: Chapter 111: A Little Stronger
"Oh my, what a pity! It seems I'm just a little stronger than you." Rhodes rested the ghost sword on his shoulder, his expression calm yet dripping with arrogance. His gaze swept over the remaining pig-headed warriors, towering above them like a god.
"He... how could he be this powerful?"
"Our king... was he really killed?"
The disbelief in their voices hung heavy in the air, but the undeniable truth was right before them: their once invincible king had been slain. The symbol of their strength had fallen.
"It seems you're still struggling to accept reality," Rhodes said, his tone mocking. "But it doesn't matter... everything ends now. You'll soon join your king."
With that, his body began to expand, muscles bulging and stretching. In moments, he transformed into a towering figure, radiating overwhelming power.
"Sun!"
BOOM!
A radiant halo erupted from Rhodes, calm yet utterly destructive. The ground beneath him splintered like shattered glass, cracks spreading outward like creeping vines.
"AHHH!"
The immense energy swept through the remaining pig-headed warriors. Blood filled the air, and the pungent stench of death lingered as their bodies disintegrated under the crushing force of the radiant power.
When the light faded and silence returned, Rhodes stood amidst the carnage, surveying the desolation. Not a single trace of life remained.
"This," he declared, his voice echoing through the shattered territory, "is the power of the Sun God's arrogance. I am the embodiment of the Seven Deadly Sins!" His laughter rang out, sharp and mocking, like the tolling of a death knell.
Finally, his laughter ceased, and he turned his gaze toward the horizon. "It's over," he muttered, stepping forward. The earth beneath his feet cracked with each step, echoing in the stillness.
---
As Rhodes walked, he mused over his power. "Strange," he murmured, "it's not yet noon, and yet the power of the sun feels stronger than ever." He clenched his fists, feeling the surging energy within.
"This power... it wasn't mine at first. But with every use, it grows stronger, as though it's becoming part of me."
He glanced at the Bottle of Souls hanging at his side. It brimmed with energy, particularly the powerful essence of the slain Pig-headed King. The soul shimmered with a potency somewhere between demigod and deity.
"Good," Rhodes said, his lips curling into a smirk. "Let's see if the Dwarf City has anything... interesting to offer."
---
Returning to the Dwarf City, Rhodes noted the changes immediately. Human slaves, once chained and subjugated, now walked freely among the dwarves. Their presence brought an odd sense of calm to the once-chaotic city.
Still, Rhodes felt no pride in their liberation. "Kindness isn't my concern," he muttered, watching the humans carefully. "Whatever helps me achieve my goals, that's all that matters."
"Lord Rhodes, you've returned!" The Dwarf King greeted him with a rare smile, though Rhodes could sense the unease beneath it.
Rhodes smirked. "It's a pity your people can only glimpse the power of gods. You'll never truly understand it."
The Dwarf King's expression shifted subtly, and Rhodes noticed his hesitation. "Yes," the king replied cautiously. "Your power is... beyond comprehension. Tell me, Lord Rhodes, is there anything you need? Perhaps some comfort?"
Rhodes frowned. "Comfort?" He caught the subtext. "Slaves? Are you offering me slaves?"
"Not humans, of course," the king said hurriedly. "Some elves, perhaps. I assure you, we mean no offense. We would never harm your kind."
Rhodes' expression hardened. "What I want is simple. Progress. Do you have any ideas about the weapons I need?"
The Dwarf King straightened, eager to shift the conversation. "Indeed, we've made some progress. By integrating magic into our forging processes, we've developed weapons capable of competing with the holy level."
Rhodes raised an eyebrow. "Holy-level weapons?" He crossed his arms. "Interesting. But are they elemental?"
"Not yet," the Dwarf King admitted. "However, with the right guidance, we believe we can integrate flames, ice, and more."
Rhodes smirked. "It seems my arrival has sparked some innovation. Very well. Keep working. As long as you're useful, I'll give you more."
---
The Dwarf King arranged for Rhodes to stay in a luxurious residence, far from the noise of the liberated humans. Despite their gratitude, Rhodes found their attempts to kneel and thank him infuriating.
"Who needs their groveling?" he muttered. "I didn't save them to enslave them."
"They don't know that," the Dwarf King said gently. "All they know is fear. Fear of returning to their chains."
As Rhodes prepared to rest, a strange sound echoed through his room. He tensed, flames flickering to life around him.
"Who's there?" he demanded, his voice low and dangerous.
"Oh! My apologies," came a voice from the void. A figure emerged, their movements slow and non-threatening. "I didn't mean to intrude."
Rhodes' eyes narrowed, his body radiating heat. "You have ten seconds to explain why you're here. Otherwise, you'll be nothing more than ash." The flames around him flared, creeping toward the intruder.
The figure raised their hands in surrender. "I'm merely curious," they said quickly. "I wanted to meet the human who conquered the Dwarf King. I swear, I mean no harm."
