Chapter 6: The First Strike
The wind carried an eerie stillness over the campus of Jujutsu High. Training sessions had wrapped up hours earlier, and the students were resting in their quarters. Gojo, however, found himself unable to sleep. Something felt off—a subtle shift in the atmosphere that his finely tuned senses couldn't ignore.
Standing on the rooftop, Gojo stared out at the moonlit sky, his blindfold pushed down around his neck. His brilliant blue eyes shimmered in the dark as he scanned the distant horizon.
"Something's coming," he murmured to himself.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, breaking the silence. Pulling it out, he saw Megumi's name flash on the screen.
"Fushiguro?" Gojo answered, his tone light despite his unease.
"Sensei, there's something outside the dorms," Megumi's voice was steady but tense. "I can't see it clearly, but it's big. And it's moving fast."
Gojo's smirk returned, but it lacked its usual playfulness. "Stay inside. I'll handle it."
Before Megumi could respond, Gojo ended the call and leapt off the roof, landing silently on the ground below. His steps were unhurried as he made his way toward the dorms, his senses honing in on the threat.
In the dormitory, Megumi and Yuta stood by the window, their weapons at the ready. Panda was pacing behind them, his claws flexing in anticipation.
"Do you think it's one of the curses from the prophecy?" Yuta asked, his voice low.
"Most likely," Megumi replied. "It feels different from the usual ones—more focused, like it's looking for something specific."
"Or someone," Panda muttered, glancing toward the direction of Gojo's quarters.
"Let's just hope Gojo-sensei gets here before it does," Yuta said.
Gojo reached the edge of the dormitory grounds, his gaze locking onto a dark figure emerging from the treeline. The curse was massive, its form writhing with dense, malevolent energy. Its glowing red eyes locked onto Gojo, and a guttural growl rumbled from deep within its chest.
"Well, aren't you a big one," Gojo said, tilting his head. "Here to test the strongest, huh?"
The curse didn't respond with words—its roar was answer enough. Without hesitation, it lunged at him, its claws slashing through the air.
Gojo didn't move.
The creature's attack stopped inches from his face, its claws meeting the invisible barrier of his Limitless technique.
"Sorry, buddy," Gojo said with a grin. "You'll have to try a lot harder than that."
He raised a hand, his fingers forming a simple gesture. "Cursed Technique Reversal: Red."
A pulse of red energy erupted from his palm, slamming into the curse and sending it hurtling backward. The ground shook as it crashed into the trees, splintering them like matchsticks.
But the curse wasn't done. It rose to its feet, its form shifting and growing as it unleashed more of its power.
Gojo's smile widened. "Oh, you're persistent. I like that."
Inside the dormitory, the students felt the impact of the battle from afar. The vibrations rattled the walls, and a low hum of cursed energy filled the air.
"We can't just sit here," Yuta said, gripping his katana.
"Gojo-sensei told us to stay put," Megumi countered, though his hand was already on the handle of his weapon.
"And if he needs backup?" Panda argued. "We're not exactly helpless, you know."
Megumi hesitated, his mind racing. "Fine," he said finally. "But we stick together. No one goes off on their own."
The trio moved cautiously through the halls, their senses on high alert. As they approached the exit, they felt an overwhelming wave of cursed energy wash over them.
"That's definitely not normal," Yuta muttered.
Outside, the battle between Gojo and the curse raged on. The creature had unleashed multiple attacks, but each one was effortlessly deflected by Gojo's Limitless technique.
"You're putting on a good show," Gojo said, his tone almost bored. "But I think it's time we wrap this up."
He raised his hands, forming a series of precise gestures. The air around him seemed to warp, the pressure building as his cursed energy reached its peak.
"Infinite Void," he said, his voice calm and steady.
The space around them shifted, and the curse was pulled into Gojo's Domain Expansion. Within the infinite space, the creature froze, overwhelmed by the endless stream of information bombarding its senses.
Gojo stepped closer, his expression serious. "Let me guess—you're not acting alone. Someone sent you, didn't they?"
The curse growled, its voice distorted. "You… are the disruption. The balance… must be restored."
Gojo's eyes narrowed. "So, it's true. Someone really thinks getting rid of me will solve their problems."
The curse didn't respond again. With a flick of his wrist, Gojo ended the Domain Expansion, the curse disintegrating into nothingness.
The students arrived moments later, their weapons drawn and ready.
"Sensei!" Yuta called out.
Gojo turned to them, his usual grin back in place. "Took you long enough. The fun's already over."
Megumi scanned the area, noting the destruction left in the curse's wake. "That thing was strong. Stronger than the ones we've seen before."
"They're sending the big guns now," Gojo admitted. "Which means we need to stay on our toes."
"Do you think it's connected to the prophecy?" Yuta asked.
"Definitely," Gojo replied. "But don't worry—I've got this under control."
Despite his confident words, Megumi caught a flicker of concern in Gojo's eyes. Whatever was coming, it was bigger than any of them had anticipated.
That night, as the campus settled into an uneasy calm, Gojo found himself back on the rooftop, staring at the stars. The curse's final words echoed in his mind: The balance must be restored.
"Let them come," he murmured, his voice firm. "I'll show them what the strongest really means."
