Fate/Book of Aaron

Chapter 6: Chapter 5: Sodom and Gomorrah

The stale, choking air of Hell greeted me as I stepped through the threshold. My lungs burned, and the oppressive atmosphere wrapped around me like chains. I blinked, trying to clear my vision, only to find the landscape before me was a twisted mockery of existence.

"System?" I asked, my voice echoing in my head, steady yet tinged with curiosity.

A calm, almost ethereal voice replied, "My designated name is CROWN, but you may call me Castiel. What can I assist you with, Aaron?"

The name tickled the edge of my memory, but now wasn't the time to dwell on it. "Castiel, what new ability have I acquired?"

Details flooded my mind. Strength beyond mortal comprehension. Power that could shatter the chains of despair. Weapons crafted by divine will. As the knowledge settled, I muttered, "Well, would you look at that. God truly blessed me."

Even with these gifts, I felt a gnawing unease. "Castiel, do I have a map of Hell?"

"You do not require a map, Aaron," Castiel replied, his tone stoic and devoid of amusement. "You are nearing the cursed cities."

A chill that had nothing to do with the heat of Hell ran down my spine. "And those are?"

His answer came with eerie simplicity. "Sodom and Gomorrah."

I walked on a path of cracked obsidian, jagged edges slicing at the soles of my boots. The terrain shifted with every step—sand turned to molten rock, then to ash-covered ground littered with bones that glowed faintly in the dim red light. I gripped the Spear of Shattered Chains tightly, its divine energy humming against my palm.

The cities loomed ahead, twin behemoths of chaos and corruption. Sodom and Gomorrah were no longer the ruins described in the scriptures. They had been reborn in Hell, grotesque parodies of their former selves.

Massive obsidian walls rose to the sky, carved with unholy symbols that radiated malice. Fires danced atop spires shaped like screaming faces, their mouths eternally agape in agony. The sky above churned with dark clouds that crackled with crimson lightning, casting brief, sinister shadows over the land.

I stopped at the gates. They were wrought iron, twisted and warped, bearing the forms of fallen angels and watchers locked in eternal torment. Their eyes followed me, pleading silently for mercy I couldn't give.

"Castiel," I said, "is this place always this... twisted?"

"This is a haven for the Nephilim, giants, and the fallen watchers," Castiel replied. "Their sins shaped these cities into what you see now."

As if summoned by his words, the gates groaned open with an ear-splitting screech, revealing streets lined with structures that seemed alive. Buildings pulsed like they had veins, and their windows—if they could be called that—oozed black ichor.

The streets were filled with creatures of nightmare. Towering giants, their skin cracked and glowing with hellfire, stomped through the city. Nephilim with grotesque wings perched atop buildings, their eyes burning with hatred. And the fallen watchers, twisted beings of light and shadow, floated above it all, their voices a discordant chorus of whispers and screams.

And at its center from what I could see. The tower of babel. Flames and Lava pouring like a fountain.
