FEIER: HISTORY'S TRACES

Prologue: The Two of us.

" Both of us will become knights if we work hard enough, maybe even one day become the royal guard! "

Feier, a world full of magic and mystery, wonders and history. It's beauty in the rain, the lush forests in the distances, how it flows through the air of life… Then came the Demon King, Rex Mali. Burning villages, slaughtering innocents who dared defied him.

The news of him spread like wildfire across the world of Feier, Rex Mali reigned as the King of the Royal Capital in the Septent Continent, his evil tyranny against the races sparked the rise of new heroes. A Sorcerer, a Deadeye, an Assassin, a Summoner, and a Knight.

Rex Mali laughed at the attempt of trying to stop his tyranny from spreading further across the world of Feier. The Heroes stood tall, taking down the Demon King and his Army. They were viewed as idols, champions of their world. But all records of their data… have been lost to time.

A couple centuries later…

The towns, cities and countries were thriving after the death of the Demon King, as more and more adventurers stood up to explore the world and defend Feier from demons and monsters, as the Royal Capital of the Septent Continent was ruled over by King Adonis Kenley Gerhard. A kind, yet worthy leader, who is a knight of his city.

As he rode throughout the city to celebrate his victory in a battle, a black-haired boy, who was the king's son was on the front of his horse, the horse slowly walked with flowers thrown on the knights of the Royal Capital. The son of the King spotted a boy with dark blonde hair.

The son patted the King's leg, pointing at the boy, the horse stops. " What is it, son? ", Adonis turns his glance to the boy with dark blonde hair. " Can he come? ", " Oh, you want a friend… Alright. ", Adonis extends his hand for the boy to take. He turns his head to his mother who was behind him.

His mother nodded her head, as he took the king's hand and sat with them on the horse, marching through the town. The son looked at the blonde-haired boy. " What's your name? My name is Cassius Kenley Gerhard! ", the boy who sat with them stammered a little. " I-I'm…I'm Merritt… "

" Alright! From now, you are my best friend, Merri! You can call me Cassi! ", Merrit nodded his head, " Okay… Cassi… ", He said as he was smiling a little bit. He held onto Cassius in order to not fall down from the horse.

Three Years Later…

…

Cassius ran through the castle halls with his friend, holding a wooden sword with a wide smile on his face. His friend, Merrit has a gentle smile, " Accept it, Merri! You can't catch me! ", the boy yelled as he laughed. " You run too fast, Cassi! ", both children laughed as they played.

Cassi looks back to look at Merri, as he bumped into his father's leg, he landed on his hip. " Cassius, are you alright? ", Cassius quickly got up, smiling at the king as he nodded his head. " Yes, I'm okay father! ", Adonis smiled at Cassius. " Very well, and where is Merritt? "

Merritt quickly reached the crossway halls, looking to his left, right and back. Spotting Cassius, " Ah, speak of the devil… " Merritt ran over to Cassius. " Caught you! ", Merritt taps the wooden sword in his head lightly, so he doesn't hurt him.

" Merri! ", Cassius pouted, Adonis chuckled at the two children lightly. " Alright, Cassi. I have to go on a quest for a little bit, behave, okay? ", Cassius pouted a little, Adonis looked at him, his lips curling up as he smiled gently at the boy. " But, I'll try and bring you something nice, like a sword or shield. Okay? "

Cassius' face lit up by his father's words, Merritt's hand was held by Cassius as Merritt was looking elsewhere. " Do you want something, Merri? ", Adonis asked. " No, thank you, your majesty. ", Merritt bowed his head down a little in respect.

" Okay, now, you boys should see me off to my quest. ", Adonis' armor was silver, shining as it had the crest of the Gerhard Family, a crescent moon. Merritt and Cassius go down stairs to see Adonis depart from the castle.

As Adonis stood from the carriage, " I will be back in a day or two! Take care, both of you! Inform your mother for me once she arrives back, Cassius! ", The two children wave as Adonis waved back, the carriage left, the horses stepping away at a gentle pace, slowly speeding up.

Cassius and Merritt continued with their day, playing around. As they were exhausted, both laid down in Cassius' room. The sun slowly sets, both fell asleep. A butler checks up on the both of them, as they keep the two children in Cassius' bed to rest for the day. Cassius and Merritt snore softly, as the butler dims the candle. Letting them rest.

The Next Morning

Merritt was sent back to his family in the city for a little bit so he could explain why he slept in Cassius' room. Cassius was having breakfast with his mother, Queen Elina Gerhard, who had just arrived from her trip. " So… How was your trip, mother? ", The queen looked at Cassius with a slight sour in her eyes.

" No talking as we eat, do not forget that I despise talking during our meals, Cassius. Maybe it's the fault of that peasant boy you always are around with. ", Cassius stood up from the table. " Mother, with all due respect… Merri didn't do anything to me, we only play around. ", Cassius said, objecting to his mother's claim.

" Are you objecting me, Cassius Kenley Gerhard? ", Cassius realized his words, as he sat down with a small blush of embarrassment on his face. " I'm sorry. ", " You really do need some etiquette training, boy. It starts from tomorrow. ", Elina tapped the sides of her lips gently.

" … Yes, mother. ", Cassius had already finished his food after the talking, he got up, walking outside of the room. " And before you go… I want you to talk less with that peasant boy you talk with. ", Cassius already left to be outside. " Alright then… "

Merritt was sitting down in his house, reading some books about magic and mana, how it works. Merritt's father was outside, working. As he tried to summon a staff for himself, he moved his hand forward, trying to learn how to use mana. Cassius opened the door to Merritt's house. " MERRI!! ", Cassius slammed the door open, Merritt jumped from his spot.

" C-Cassi! ", Merritt was sweating a little bit, books were around Merritt, all were focused on spell casting. " Let's go outside to the forest! ", Merritt tilts his head a little to the side. " Why the forest? Isn't town enough for you? ", Cassius shakes his head left and right.

" Nah! It's slowly getting kinda boring, but a forest does sound fun, doesn't it??", Cassius enthusiastically added, Merritt scratches his chin, thinking if this is a good idea. " I mean.. Sure, but we should not go far, okay? ", Merritt responds. Cassius nodded his head. " Okay! "

The Two Children leave the Royal Capital and to it's outskirts, Cassius walks as Merritt held the bag of supplies and food on his back, he had a book in his hand that was for magic. He held it in one hand, Cassius was climbing up a tree.

Merritt looked up at Cassius. " Be careful, Cassi! You might get a splinter or fall! ", Cassius shouts from above. " Okay!! ", Merritt leaves the bag at the foot of the tree. He takes a deep breath before climbing the tree. Cassius took Merritt's hand and pulled him up.

" Got you! ", Cassius pulls Merritt up, as both of them sit on the tree branch, watching the skies. " Woah… It's so pretty. ", Merritt was mesmerized by the view the height was giving them. Cassius pats his back. " I know, right? We should do this more often! "

Merritt nodded his head, " Yeah, maybe… But with our parents' permission. ", Cassius groaned in annoyance as he looked to the side. " You're so boring, Merri! ", Merritt chuckled at Cassius being annoyed. " Am I wrong? Or are you just interested in another scolding? ", Merritt replied.

" Noo… I guess you're right… ", Cassius responded back, " Okay, we should get down from here. ", Merrit said. " What?! But it looks so nice from up here though! ", Merritt nodded his head after a sigh. " Well, sure… but we need to go back home, our families are probably looking for us… "

Cassius sighed, " Okay, I guess you have another point… ", Cassius climbed down, Merritt did try to do so, but fell. Cassius looked up, " I got you! ", Cassius was then hit by the falling Merritt, " Oh, Cassi! Are you okay?! ", Cassius nodded, with a thumbs up raised from his hand.

Merritt helped Cassius up, this time, Cassius had to carry the bag. Merritt was reading his book as both of them making their way back to the Royal Capital… All of a sudden:

ROARRR!!

The two were startled from the sudden loud noise, as footsteps slowly approached the two from behind. " We have to go, fast! ", Merritt and Cassius ran, Cassius had to abandon the bag of supplies as it was heavy, " It's behind us! ", Cassius said as he turned his head back, the creature pounced on Cassius.

" CASSIUS! ", Merritt shouts, the creature quickly hits Merritt with it's forearm, sending him to a tree, making his head bleed a little, the creature shifts its focus on Merritt, walking to him. Then popping a claw out of its hand, stabbing the side of his stomach, then tracing Merritt's stomach to cut it wide open. " MERRI! ", Cassius shouted.

Just then, quick footsteps were heard and Adonis had just arrived in time to save the two, Merritt held the wound on his stomach, trying to hold his tears back. Adonis sliced the creature's hand, then it's head in one fell swoop with embers trailing around his slashes. Cassius was caught off guard, then quickly rushed over to Merritt.

The carriage was nearby, " Just what are you kids doing here?! ", Cassius had tears flowing from his eyes, Merritt's eyes slowly black out. As he was carried to the carriage by Adonis, Cassius held Merritt's hand as the doctor uses mana to heal Merritt's wound slowly.

As they arrived in the Royal Capital, Merritt was rushed to urgent care at a clinic. As he got all the required treatments, the doctor walked out. " He'll be fine, maybe a few days to recover if we don't run out of mana. ", Adonis nodded, holding Cassius close.

" Don't ever leave without a guard nearby, Cassius. ", Cassius was in tears, worried about his only best friend, but by an absolutely unexpected turn of events, Merritt woke up. Cassius' eyes widen at this as he quickly rushes into the room. Adonis does too

" Are you okay, Merritt?! ", Adonis asks, Cassius was sniffling as his tears stream down his cheeks. " I'm… fine… I think… It hurts a bit… ", Merritt held his head, as he looks at Cassius. " Cassi…! Are you okay?! ", Merritt quickly took a piece of tissue, cleaning his tears. " Y-Yeah, I'm okay..! ", Cassius smiled brightly as Merritt smiled lightly too.

10 Minutes Later…

" Did I miss anything important? ", Merritt says, as Cassius sat down on the bedside of Merritt's bed, Adonis took a chair, " Well, I do believe your best friend has a little story for you. ", Merritt turns his head to Cassius.

" You would NOT believe this, Merri! Now, I want to fight and train to protect people just like my father! ", Merritt chuckled at Cassius, " Why? Did you see something out of a book now? ", Cassius shakes his head left and right at a fast pace. " No, Father saved you when you got attacked by that demon beast thing! "

" I… Wow… I mean, thank you so much, your majesty… ", Merritt glanced over to Adonis. " Of course, I can't leave Cassius alone for the rest of his life. ", He chuckled. Cassius looked to Merritt, holding his pinky out to Merritt. " Merritt, if we work hard enough, maybe even one day we can become the royal guard! "

The room went silent, before Adonis bursts out laughing, Merritt tries to hold his laughter in. Cassius looks at Merritt with embarrassment on his face, " What's so funny?! ", Merritt then whispers under his breath: " You're so optimistic… ", Merritt had a slight smile on his face once he calms down.

" What about it, Merri? We'll be the strongest knight in Feier, and protect everyone! ", Cassius claimed, " … Sure, I'll stand by your side, Cassi. ", Merri wrapped his pinky finger with Cassius'. Adonis was outside of the room, smiling as he heard their conversation.

" Let's become Feier's greatest knights, together! "
