Chapter 653: 652 Attending an appointment
“Ranran, I have something to discuss with you. Can we have lunch together later today?”
Mo Zixuan just said that he had no ulterior motive, only to invite her for lunch immediately afterward, a behavior somewhat ignoble. Especially since the woman he’d invited was already his sister-in-law.
Though Wen Ran used to be his girlfriend, now she was Mo Xiuchen’s wife.
When he chose MS Group, Mo Xiuchen already gave him the company, and he hadn’t yet warmed up his CEO chair when he started coveting another man’s wife.
Of course, Wen Ran would refuse. Her voice was even indifferent, “I’m sorry, but I won’t be available at noon.”
“How about in the evening then, Ranran? I truly have something important to discuss with you.”
Mo Zixuan continued to ask, adamant about not backing down until she agreed.
“I’m also occupied tonight, Mo Zixuan. We don’t have anything important to talk about. If you truly have something to say, just say it over the phone.”
Wen Ran said, somewhat irritably. She leaned back in her chair, having not slept well the night before and feeling down today.
Mo Zixuan on the other end of the line sighed and spoke gently, “Alright, Ranran, I’ve learned about Fu Jingyi’s whereabouts.”
At these words, Wen Ran’s eyes changed, her body that had been leaning into the chair straightening in preparation to focus, but then Mo Zixuan abruptly cut himself off.
He stopped speaking.
Wen Ran frowned slightly, a look of displeasure spreading across her beautiful face. It seemed like Mo Zixuan was teasing her, was he absolutely sure she was eager to know about Fu Jingyi’s whereabouts and would ask him about it?
She tightened her grip on the phone, her lips pursed slightly, without asking.
Silence crept from the phone.
If she didn’t ask, Mo Zixuan could hardly keep silent. After waiting for about two minutes without hearing Wen Ran’s voice, he became a little impatient. “Ranran, I’m not kidding. I do know Fu Jingyi’s whereabouts. I have no ulterior motives, nor will I use this information to coerce you into being with me. I just want to have a meal with you. If you want to know it, come to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion at seven in the evening. I just want to tell you one person.”
After speaking, Mo Zixuan hung up the phone.
**
At precisely five-thirty in the afternoon, Qing Feng and Qing Yang arrived at the pharmaceutical factory to pick Wen Ran up and take her home.
After getting home and eating dinner, she went upstairs.
Sitting on the sofa in the master bedroom, Wen Ran was deep in thought, with her phone alarm set to ring at half-past seven.
Wen Ran picked up her phone, turned off the alarm, and dialed a number.
A few seconds later, Qin Mu’s voice sounded from A City, entering her ears with a low and warm voice: “Wen Ran, is something the matter?”
Wen Ran pursed her lips and quietly asked, “Qin Mu, you must know that Qin Ming’s beauty salon is connected to Fu Jingyi, right?”
Qin Mu paused momentarily on the other end of the phone before quickly replying, “Yes, I’m currently investigating this.”
It seemed quite noisy on his end, it wasn’t clear where he was. Upon hearing Qin Mu’s words, Wen Ran quickly asked, “Is there any news yet? Do you know where Fu Jingyi is?”
“No, not yet.”
Qin Mu’s words were always succinct. Upon hearing his answer, Wen Ran’s heart sank. She pursed her lips and said, “If there’s any news on your end, please inform me immediately.”
“Okay!”
There was a brief silence on the phone, then Qin Mu’s voice sounded again, “Wen Ran, is there anything else?”
“Xiuchen went to City C yesterday. Qin Mu, once you’ve dealt with the things on your end, could you go help Xiuchen in City C? He’s on his own and I’m afraid it’s too hard for him.”
Wen Ran’s words were somewhat forced, but she dared not say much. This was something she had hesitated over for a long time before finally speaking up.
“Okay!”
Without any hesitation, Qin Mu agreed readily.
**
By the time Wen Ran arrived at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion’s second floor, it was already half past eight.
After she finished her call with Qin Mu, she hesitated for a long time but still decided to hear what Mo Zixuan had to say.
Qing Feng and Qing Yang drove her to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion. She didn’t let them follow her upstairs, just asked them to wait for her.
On the second floor by the window, Mo Zixuan was still sitting there. He was wearing a white shirt, under the brilliant crystal lamp light, his perfect features appeared extraordinarily handsome. Turning his head to see Wen Ran, the melancholy in his eyes was instantly replaced by a trace of surprise, his lips curling up in a joyful smile.
This scene had occurred before in her memories.
Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, her steps moving slowly toward him.
Mo Zixuan quickly stood up, his tall and handsome figure standing before the table, his eyes fixed upon her, “Ranran, you’re here.”
His unrestrained joy made Wen Ran somewhat sullen. In contrast to his happiness, her demeanor was cold and indifferent, or perhaps even somewhat heartless.
She remembered a similar occasion when he’d invited her to dinner, and despite her late arrival, he was not impatient at all from waiting. Instead, he enthusiastically pulled the chair out for her, to help her take a seat.
“Ranran, I’ve already ordered. I was just waiting for you,” Mo Zixuan said happily as he sat back down. He raised his hand and gestured to the waiter not far from there.
Wen Ran frowned slightly, responding nonchalantly, “I’ve already eaten. Order whatever you want, you don’t need to involve me.”
He only hesitated briefly before his smile quickly reappeared, “Ranran, it’s fine. You can eat a little less later.”
The waiter served the food quickly, but Wen Ran didn’t make a move to start eating. She lightly touched the glass cup with one hand and played with it absentmindedly. She looked at Mo Zixuan with calm eyes, “Mo Zixuan, I came here for Fu Jingyi’s information. If you’re willing to tell me, I will be very grateful. If not, I won’t force you.”
Although she wanted to know where Fu Jingyi was currently, she absolutely wouldn’t agree to Mo Zixuan’s excessive demands for that information. They already had some clues, and she believed that they would be able to find Fu Jingyi.
Mo Zixuan’s gaze was fixed on her, and under Wen Ran’s calm eyes, the smile on his lip was tinged with bitterness. He picked up the chopsticks, grabbed a slice of fish, and placed it on the plate in front of her. He softly spoke, “Ranran, I won’t ask you for anything. I’m just lonely eating alone every day. I really miss the good old times with you and wanted to relive the warmth and happiness of having a meal with you.”
Wen Ran pursed her lips and didn’t say a word.
“Ranran, try this fish slice.”
Mo Zixuan mumbled to himself, continuing to serve her other dishes.
The dishes he ordered tonight were indeed her favorites as he knew her preferences very well, having spent several months together and known each other for several years longer than that.
“Ranran, are you scared that I have poisoned the food?”
Mo Zixuan put a slice of fish into his mouth, chewed it elegantly before swallowing. He leaned back into his chair and looked at Wen Ran helplessly.
