Forced By OAA To Be His Sucessor.

Chapter 60: Chapter 58: Arrival Of Alastor Moody...

Diagon Alley...

When Gay Lestrange blasted his own head and fell to the ground lifeless, blood splattering everywhere in the midst of Diagon Alley, many onlookers were drawn to the earlier commotion.

Leo noticed the onlookers outside his shop, their eyes wide with shock as they stared at the lifeless body of Gay, whose blood was still splattering from his headless body.

'Did I go overboard by killing him?'

Feeling the heavy atmosphere caused by the brutal scene, Leo contemplated whether he had gone too far.

"____"

When he turned to look at Bellatrix, who had stood up for him, he tried to gauge her reaction. Even she appeared stunned.

Cough~

With an awkward cough, Leo got up from his seat and walked out of the shop to address the situation.

He didn't want the matter to escalate to a point where Aurors would be chasing him on one side, and a noseless bastard with his group of brainless ducks would be after him on the other.

Even though Leo didn't fear any of them, it would make things unnecessarily complicated since he had only arrived a few weeks ago.

"____"

Cough~

With a deliberate cough, Leo tried to get everyone's attention, which succeeded, and all their eyes were now on him.

"I just def—"

Feeling everyone's attention on him, Leo was about to clarify that he had only defended himself and that they were the ones who had attacked first.

Clap~ Clap~

"Savior has arrived!!!"

Whistle~ Whistle~

"Finally, someone has stood up to them."

Hooray~ Ohhh~ Yeah~

"Young man... you have my unwavering support. Please protect us from these dark wizards."

An old man, with a look of immense relief on his face, clasped Leo's hand and spoke.

But before Leo could speak, the onlookers started clapping, whistling, and jumping around excitedly, celebrating the death of Gay Lestrange and the other dark wizards, including his sons who accompanied him, as if it were some sort of festival.

"____"

Seeing their reaction, Leo was completely caught off guard. He braced himself and expected them to panic upon seeing him, accusing him of murder.

His eyes darted here and there, noticing that everyone's reaction was surprisingly positive.

They were even cheering for him, leaving him a little confused.

Haha~ Hahaha~

"Alright..."

With an awkward laugh, Leo, realizing the situation had unexpectedly gone smoothly in a direction he hadn't anticipated, decided to go with the flow.

The crowd began to surround Leo, speaking to him excitedly, shaking his hands, introducing themselves, and offering various items from their shops as tokens of gratitude.

"____"

Even Bellatrix was left stunned by the reaction of the fellow members of Diagon Alley.

Her surprised expression clearly showed she hadn't expected this either.

"Move... move..."

The lively banter was interrupted by a stoic voice, commanding the cheerful crowd to step aside and make way.

When the crowd parted to reveal the person who had spoken, all eyes turned to the infamous Alastor Moody, flanked by a group of Aurors.

Unlike the future, where he would lose one eye, a leg, his nose, and bear numerous permanent injuries like the scars on his face during his service in the First Wizarding War against the vicious Death Eaters and their forces,

this Moody still looked formidable, untouched by those marks of battle. He had already gained the nickname "Mad-Eye Moody," though he still bore his natural eye.

"____"

Moody had rushed to Diagon Alley after receiving an emergency report about dark wizards smuggling contraband again.

Gritting his teeth, he had arrived as quickly as possible.

When he reached the scene, he was surprised to see a crowd cheering in front of a shop. With narrowed eyes, he pushed forward to see what the commotion was about.

What he saw left him momentarily stunned—a lifeless corpse lay on the ground, blood still pooling from the body, indicating the person had died recently.

Judging by the attire of the headless body, Moody immediately recognized the dead man as a Death Eater.

"What happened here?"

With narrowed eyes, Moody scanned the crowd and demanded an explanation.

Behind him, the Aurors stood in formation, their presence adding pressure to the tense atmosphere.

Hearing the question about what had happened, the elderly man who had greeted Leo first and thanked him stepped forward to explain.

"____"

As Moody and the Aurors listened to the full story, their expressions shifted from shock to a mix of fear, awe, and respect.

The boy standing before them had somehow managed to make Gay Lestrange, a known Death Eater, kill his own gang, including his sons, and later take his own life—all without even lifting a wand.

"Can I know who you are?"

Despite the respect growing in his mind for the boy's power, Moody approached the situation cautiously, his tone guarded as he asked.

Before Leo could respond, Bellatrix involuntarily stepped forward, standing protectively in front of him. Her bold action surprised everyone, including Leo.

"____"

Chuckle~

Leo couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle.

Bellatrix's protective stance was unexpected, especially after her earlier efforts to fight alongside him.

His impression of her had shifted considerably—what had started as a tenuous alliance was now taking a new shape.

"Black family?"

Moody's eyes narrowed in curiosity as he took in the sight of Bellatrix standing before Leo.

The situation was intriguing, especially considering the insider information he had.

The Black family had been rumored to strengthen ties with the Lestranges, a family now aligned with the self-proclaimed Dark Lord, Voldemort.

There were whispers of marriage alliances involving the Black sisters, which had been causing headaches for Moody and others fighting against Voldemort's growing influence.

Seeing Bellatrix, a member of the prestigious and ancient pure-blood Black family, protectively standing before a young man who had just killed the Lestrange patriarch, raised more questions than answers.

"Miss Black, there's no need to worry… this is just a formal inquiry,"

Moody said, his tone slightly softer, accompanied by a light chuckle to defuse the tension in the air.

His demeanor was still easygoing, far removed from the grim and paranoid personality he would develop in the future after years of trauma.

"They were the ones who breached this shop, intending to steal all the potions and valuables inside. They also attacked the shop owner, who is none other than the lord of the Morningstar family. In self-defense, he retaliated. I was also involved in this battle and fought alongside him."

Bellatrix's sharp voice cut through the murmurs.

Her words carried authority, introducing Leo as the lord of the Morningstar family and clearly outlining her own involvement.

By doing so, she made it clear that the attack was justified and that any attempt to implicate Leo would be met with resistance.

Even though the Morningstar name was powerful enough to fend off any trouble, Bellatrix's involvement complicated the matter.

The Black family's influence in the wizarding world was immense, and she wanted to ensure no opportunistic Aurors would attempt to twist the situation to their advantage.

"____"

'Morningstar family… you must be kidding me.'

Moody's eyes widened slightly at the mention of the Morningstar name.

Awe and respect filled his gaze as he looked at Leo more intently.

"You don't need to worry. There are many witnesses here, and with a testimony from a member of the Black family, plus the evidence that the deceased were Death Eaters, there's no question this was self-defense. You won't be held accountable for murder."

Moody's tone was calm as he pointed to the lifeless bodies nearby.

Then, in a quieter voice, he added,

"But be careful… from here on out, things might get more dangerous for you."

With that, Moody turned to the other Aurors and motioned for them to move out.

Gathering the bodies as evidence, they left Diagon Alley, leaving Leo and Bellatrix behind.

Hogwarts...

Headmaster's Office...

As usual, with the new school year approaching, Dumbledore was hosting a meeting with the professors to discuss their plans for the incoming first-year students.

Sigh~

"Headmaster, we still haven't found a suitable professor to take the Defense Against the Dark Arts position,"

McGonagall said with a defeated sigh, breaking the lively atmosphere with a grim expression.

The room fell into an uneasy silence.

The lingering curse left behind by Tom Riddle when Dumbledore had refused to hire him as the DADA professor had deterred many.

Despite numerous interviews with potential candidates, none had met Hogwarts' standards.

Those they had approached personally had outright refused, unwilling to take on the cursed position.

Chuckle~

"Let us wait patiently, Minerva,"

Dumbledore said with his characteristic calmness.

"There will be someone who will find teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts here… irresistible."

His light-hearted tone helped diffuse the tension in the air, and the meeting shifted to the next topic.

In the midst of their discussions, an owl swooped into the room, landing gracefully on Dumbledore's desk and dropping a letter before him.

Dumbledore noticed the seal—it was from Alastor Moody, one of the Aurors he deeply respected.

"____"

As he read the letter, a pensive silence fell over the room.

His expression turned thoughtful, and his piercing blue eyes seemed to drift far away.

The professors exchanged curious glances, waiting for him to speak.

"It seems the Cauldron and Charm Apothecary in Diagon Alley was attacked,"

Dumbledore finally said, breaking the silence. His words hung heavily in the air.

A flicker of concern crossed McGonagall's face, her brows furrowing deeply.

She looked as though she were bracing for bad news.

Gleam~

"But do not worry, Minerva,"

Dumbledore continued with a subtle gleam of amusement in his eyes,

"Lord Morningstar has taken care of the matter and, in doing so, has become something of a hero in Diagon Alley. According to Alastor, only the headless body of Gay Lestrange was recovered by the Aurors."

McGonagall's eyes widened in shock, her lips parting as she processed his words.

"Lord Morningstar?"

she repeated, her tone a mixture of surprise and apprehension.

Dumbledore nodded knowingly, his fingers steepled under his chin.

"It seems we may need to keep an eye on this young lord. Alastor writes highly of his abilities. A curious development indeed."

The room was silent as the professors digested this news. McGonagall, though visibly tense, said nothing further, choosing instead to observe her headmaster's calm demeanor.

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled ever so slightly, as though contemplating something deeper about the enigmatic Lord Morningstar.
