Chapter 618 - 618: Change a Mother_1
Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Change a Mother_1
Good and evil are adult definitions.
The world of a child is pure, and Young Master Douglas simply did what he wanted to do.
Just like a litter of newborn puppies fighting for a drop of milk, pushing their siblings aside, a simple act completely driven by instinct, unrelated to good or evil.
Purple Summers asserted that the child’s incident was related to Young Master Douglas, which almost made Norman Douglas lose his composure on the spot, wanting to roar in anger.
But Purple Summers was too calm, even more indifferent to his rage, as if she had anticipated it all along.
“For a five-year-old child, it’s not difficult to smother an infant that isn’t even 30 days old. For a six or seven-year-old, dropping an infant down the stairs is also not difficult,” Purple Summers said calmly, “I heard that it was Young Master Douglas who discovered Riley Montgomery and the infant fallen down the stairs, and he told the servant, who then quickly made the call for an ambulance.”
Norman said, “That’s because she’s been paranoid ever since the first child’s accident, always suspecting that a servant was out to harm her! She always took personal care of the child, not letting any servant meddle, even deliberately avoiding them during walks!”
Being viewed as not good enough for the Douglas Family by the servants, Riley Montgomery was disapproved of even more when she showed paranoia after the second child was born, further offending the servants and losing their hearts.
Norman was not only pained by his wife’s injury but also somewhat infuriated! If Riley Montgomery hadn’t obstinately left the servants aside, the child might not have met with the accident!
“Is that what she told you?” Norman said, holding back his anger, “After giving birth, she’s been paranoid, first suspecting the servants, then suspecting Bastian. How old is Bastian? After her injury and hospitalization, Bastian visited her every day after school. Isn’t it excessive of her to speculate like this about a child’s intentions?!”
“No, she didn’t say that,” Purple Summers shook her head gently, “But what a person fears can easily be tested, Mr. Douglas, and indeed she is very afraid of your son.”
“That’s all her delusion! Baseless!” Norman roared, “You can’t convict my eight-year-old son just because of that!”
“Although I have no definitive proof, the reason I’m telling you all this today is not without cause.”
Purple Summers looked at him with a calm, clear, and serene gaze.
“I also wondered if it might be depression, causing her to have paranoid delusions, but later, I found something very strange in your household,” Purple Summers continued, “If it were your legitimate wife who lost two children in a row, I suppose the Douglas Family would be turned upside down, right? If the legitimate wife told you that she felt like someone in the house wanted to harm her, would you think it’s her delusion? No, you wouldn’t, because you value your wife’s feelings greatly. However, when it happened to Riley Montgomery, everyone in the Douglas Family, from top to bottom, unanimously regarded it as her craziness and obstinacy. Frankly, it’s nothing more than a lack of respect.”
Norman’s breath hitched, and his complexion grew even uglier.
Purple Summers had hit a nerve.
Although he liked his new wife’s gentleness, deep down he somewhat looked down on her weakness. As for the legitimate wife, a daughter from a prominent family, her strong and domineering personality was something he couldn’t stand. Yet, when it came to work, he was willing to listen to his wife’s opinions. It was a contradictory psychology.
“Do you still remember how you and Riley Montgomery met? If not for Young Master Douglas, would you have considered marrying a woman without family background or connections?” Purple Summers smiled and continued, “Now, thinking back, Young Master Douglas probably wanted to find a mother who would love him wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, later on, Riley Montgomery disappointed him, which is why the private tutor’s button fell off… Young Master Douglas, I fear, wanted to replace his mother.”
Purple Summers slowly lifted her gaze, smiling faintly at the stunned Norman, and said softly, “I indeed have no evidence, but if my speculation isn’t wrong, aside from the button incident, there must have been other interesting events in your house related to that private tutor, right?”
