From Demon Slayer to the Multiverse: The Ultimate Exploiter

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Fallen Street

Tong Gu stroked the black card in his hand, his gaze drifting.

After back-to-back high-intensity sessions of the Game of Fate, he now faced a mandatory two-week cooldown period, leaving him with an unplaceable sense of emptiness.

[King of a Hundred Demons: Nurarihyon]

[Black Iron · Two-Star]

[Description: A powerful ruler of demons leading the Hyakki Yako in a certain timeline.]

[Effect 1: You can crush this card to have the system randomly select one item, skill, or ability from Nurarihyon as your reward.]

[Effect 2: You can slap this card onto yourself, temporarily transforming into Nurarihyon, gaining a boost in his skills and abilities during the transformation.]

Tong Gu hadn't crushed the card to claim its rewards. On one hand, Nurarihyon's strength made this card a powerful trump card for him. On the other hand, as someone who had just completed a mission at the White Rank, he wasn't particularly in need of the abilities or skills tied to Nurarihyon.

He opened his personal stats panel:

[Rank: White Rank · Upper]

"I'm... strong," Tong Gu realized, fully understanding that even among White Rank players, he stood at the pinnacle, especially with an A-Rank ability under his belt.

Thinking of this ability, his curiosity reignited. The description suggested it originated from the world of Law of Ueki, where "talents" often manifested as abilities activated under specific conditions or costs. Yet, the cost for his ability seemed vague.

Tong Gu pondered for a moment, pulling out a Specialization Upgrade Scroll. With a thought, he activated it.

[Do you wish to use 1 Specialization Upgrade Scroll to enhance Basic Footwork Lv3 → Lv4?]

Confirming silently, the scroll vanished, and a wealth of experience in movement and force distribution flowed into his mind. He lightly pushed off a wall, his toes gripping briefly, and leaped to the opposite wall like a monkey. Landing gracefully, he noted the wall remained unscathed.

"So this is Lv4 footwork?"

His movements had grown fluid, his control refined. Compared to Lv3's raw power, Lv4 offered elegance and precision.

Testing further, Tong Gu concentrated and activated his unique ability. A strange ripple surged forward. Though he felt slightly drained, a new item appeared in his hand: another Specialization Upgrade Scroll!

Tong Gu leapt to his feet, unable to hide his excitement. This ability worked on items from the Game of Fate!

Though he felt some emptiness in his body, he judged the cost negligible and recoverable with modern medicine if necessary. Yet he forced himself to calm down, analyzing his stats carefully.

[Destiny Points: 1168]

He distinctly remembered earning 2500 Destiny Points in his first world and 2300 in the second. Even after spending 632 points on recovery in the Demon Slayer World, he should have 4168 points left.

Using the ability had consumed a staggering 3000 points!

What would happen if he activated it again?

Instinctively, Tong Gu felt the cost would be just as steep. This ability wasn't suited for casual use; it was a game-changer for critical moments.

Still, the fact that it could influence the Game of Fate mechanics made Tong Gu realize its immense potential. Whether to farm monsters, multiply rewards from loot cards, or recreate his own abilities mid-combat, as long as he could afford the cost, the possibilities were endless.

A sudden notification broke his train of thought.

His phone buzzed with a message from Xinyuan, a player with the title The Analyst.

"Got news on what you're looking for."

Tong Gu quickly replied:

"Where?"

"Mountain City, Fallen Street."

---

Fallen Street, located in the southwest of Mountain City, was once an old, dilapidated district known by another name. Over the decades, its decline into chaos and vice had caused its original name to fade, replaced by the infamous "Fallen Street."

Wherever there is light, there is shadow.

Just as some strive with hope and passion, others choose self-abandonment, indulging in fleeting pleasures.

The residents of Fallen Street cared little for heroes or legends. They lived by one creed:

"Live for pleasure before inevitable death."

Inspecting the vivid graffiti on the walls, Gong Li, a junior officer, asked his squad leader, Yang Yuanping:

"Aren't we supposed to deal with places like this?"

Under his hood, Yang Yuanping's expression turned complex. With a sigh, he muttered,

"Is it so wrong for people to live without sunshine and hope?"

Gong Li froze, caught off guard and unable to refute.

Tong Gu, cloaked similarly, remained silent. He understood. Denying people autonomy over their own lives would only breed greater societal problems.

Yet, as he observed the drunken revelers and the lovers unabashedly entwined in alleyways, a sense of dissonance struck him.

Fallen Street was a place entirely at odds with his past.

Yet its chaos and freedom had made it a haven for players seeking anonymity, transforming it into a thriving black market.

Tong Gu's search for the Log Pose, an item from the One Piece World that could help him return precisely to the Demon Slayer World, had led him here.

---

Noticing Gong Li's troubled expression, Yang Yuanping gestured toward a nearby building.

"Look there. Fallen Street isn't all bad."

Gong Li and Tong Gu turned to see a group of children peering from a second-floor window, watching a couple's public display with innocent curiosity.

Gong Li's face darkened. "Captain, this is hardly—"

But Yang Yuanping grinned.

"There are children here. And where there are children, there's hope."
