FROZEN 3: Elsa and Jack Frost

Chapter 2: STARTLED CONFUSION

Olaf waddled through the palace halls, humming and smiling while carrying a tray of hot cocoa for Anna.

"Anna is going to love this! Nothing fixes a bad day like chocolate—"

He stopped, Anna wasn't at the throne room.

"Annaaaaa?" He called with his eyes all sparkling, walking up to the throne seat and going around it.

But she wasn't there, his smile dropped.

"Maybe she's by the wall-stir… not here either."

Olaf turned around, looking up at a guard, "Where is she?"

The guard pointed, with his metal gloved fingers, out the window.

Anna's right hand felt so warm in Kristoff's as he led her down the front stairs, out of the palace corridors—- so warm that it was starting to feel hot.

On going into the open courtyard, near the fountain, the Queen started to shuffle on her feet.

It was mid afternoon with the sun doing its job of shining moderately on the kingdom.

Town folks were going about their daily activities and business, bowing in greeting to her as she passed some of them.

If he wanted a quiet place, the fountain was a good spot but Kristoff was still moving, pulling her along.

He hadn't said anything since he led her out of the throne room and she was getting worried.

What was up with him?

"Kristoff? Kristoff."

He wasn't answering and that was unlike him.

She tugged on his long sleeved shirt with her legs hand, digging her heels in the the earth, "Stop!"

Kristoff stopped immediately and turned to face her.

The angry look in his eyes startled Anna and her fingers that were in his twitched.

Her eyes rounded and she blinked twice, clearing her throat nervously.

"You haven't told me what's bothering you, why are we out here?"

Whatever angry that popped up in his eyes, disappeared just as it came, she almost thought she had imagined it.

However, even with the murmurs from the crown all about them and the trickling sound from the fountain they stood beside, she still heard him say words that took her aback completely.

"Take off your crown."

Her left hand that was holding his sleeves let go of them, she didn't know what to say or think, maybe, maybe…

"What—-"

Her sluggishness in reacting annoyed Kristoff, he sighed and moved his hands to take the crown off her head but Anna jerked away, pulling her hands from his.

Stumbling a step back, she raised her right hand to touch the golden band resting on her head.

"Kristoff! What are you doing?"

He took a deep breath in, closing his eyes and opening them, "Anna. I've tried to be gentle with you, you know that."

Anna couldn't be more confused, "You're scaring me. Just… tell me what this is about"

He turned his back to her and faced the crowd.

"Listen up, people of Arendelle!"

Every murmur of voices hushed as the town folks turned their attention to the Queen and her fiancé.

Anna looked left and right, watching more and more townsfolk, guards and palace staff begin to gather and draw closer to them.

On the balcony above, Gerda, looked down, pulling his glasses further down on his nose while wondering what was going on.

'What is he doing?' Anna thought.

Kristoff raised his voice, clear and loudly, addressing all that had gathered.

"Today a new era starts for Arendelle. Today, you have a new king. Me!"
