Gaming in the Underworld: Βασιλιάς

Chapter 1: The Start of a New Journey

The Empire State Building loomed in the distance as a storm raged on in the harbor. I stood on a quiet street looking at the countless sleeping mortals in various states. Some had passed out in their cars pulled over in the middle of the streets. Some had fallen asleep right on the sidewalk. Thankfully most had made it home in time and had been indoors before the 'invasion' happened. Selene nudged a sleeping woman on the foot.

"They're not waking up, something is keeping them asleep."

"It's probably one of the gods, the Greeks have gods that control sleep. They probably have an area wide sleep spell active."

"Then why aren't we asleep?" Lena asked.

"My guess? Probably because I'm involved, or maybe it's because we're immortals and the one doing this only wants mortals asleep."

"What now?"

"Now we find the gods, kick ass, and save some people."

"Why are we doing this again?"

"Honestly, I just want to give the gods a piece of my mind about manipulating people's lives. Monsters attacking is just a plus so I can actually blow off some steam along the way."

"Do you need our help?"

"Probably not, though it would be funny to see one of the Olympian gods get folded by one of you."

"Alright, send us back to the pocket dimension then. I don't want to leave Luna and Aurora with Bill for too long. Old man might just die trying to keep up with them."

Selene gave me a quick kiss before I sent her and Lena back to my pocket dimension. Ever since our daughter's birth Selene had calmed down a bit. She was still the same badass vampire killing machine, only now she didn't go out of her way to find a fight. To be honest I was glad she was mellowing out, I didn't really know how she would fare against a bunch of petulant gods with way too much power. Selene and Lena still requested to go into dungeons to fight and keep their skills sharp though. No point in letting themselves get too complacent. I belted on Dark Sister and double checked my system for the new quest I had received the second I set foot in the new world.

Knowing that the Fates were technically the ones issuing these quests let me know that they wouldn't interfere with what I did. It also raised some questions. Mainly,

'What the fuck has happened and was it so bad that the fates decided that destiny be damned, we need a Hail Mary.'

The Fate were infamous for being sticklers in the case of destiny and as their names implied, fate. Them telling me that they didn't care what I did so long as I saved their world was telling. Then again the Greek pantheon is not known for their wise actions and their reasonable decisions. Before coming to this world I had prepared myself by skimming through the book it was based on after purchasing it off the Gamer Shop. Even if it was an alternate reality it didn't hurt to know the basics beforehand. I didn't really know where to go, the sounds of fighting could be heard all around me. In the distant storm I could see small figures firing bolts of power at a dark shape hidden by the storm clouds. Deciding that a big fuck off monster needed to be dealt with first I summoned Tiamat out of my tattoo and jumped onto her back. My armor flashed onto my body as I drew Dark Sister from her scabbard. Tiamat let out a roar as we charged towards the fight.

[Scene Break]

Hera was losing hope, Blake had gone silent after revealing that he knew that the Fates had been manipulating his life. She felt a bit of guilt creeping in her own mind as she realized that she had also manipulated him. Typhon was drawing closer to touching down on land. Her brother Poseidon was doing his best to slow the behemoth down but he was already weakened after fighting off attacks on Atlantis. The other gods and goddesses threw everything they had at the father of monsters. A roar unlike anything she'd heard crashed into the surrounding Olympians drawing their attention. Hera's eyes widened in horror at the sight of the black dragon larger than even Typhon barrelling towards them.

"Olympians with me!" Shouted Athena as she moved to intercept the new monster.

It was pointless though as the dragon shot past them and crashed into Typhon. A figure leapt from its back and erupted into black flames. The new arrival hacked and slashed at the father of monsters making the beast roar in pain. Around her various gods and goddesses gaped in shock as the lone figure began to cut chunks of flesh off of Typhon's body. The dragon roared before sending a gout of black flames directly at Typhon's face. The father of monsters roared and sent a blast of power that sent the figure on its back flying.

Hera felt a bit of hope swell in her chest as she watched the figure. Something about how the figure moved seemed familiar. Just then the figure shouted something at the dragon which disappeared in a flash of light.

The figure jumped back onto Typhon and raised the sword into the air. She felt the power beginning to build and shouted at the other deities to brace themselves. A shockwave knocked several flying chariots out of the air as their riders desperately tried to regain control.

Hera looked at where the blast came from and stared at the scene. The armored figure had managed to bring Typhon down to the water and was now repeatedly stabbing the monster with a glowing greatsword. With one final slash Typhon stilled and the figure jumped off the monster's body landing in the water. Hera descended to where their savior was and looked at the armored man intently. The man removed his helmet and glared at her. Hera's breath caught in her throat.

"Blake?"
