Gaming in the Underworld: Βασιλιάς

Chapter 11: Leap of Faith

I chuckled as she writhed around on my arm before settling down. I assumed the behavior was because she was a teenager in dragon years. If there even was such a thing as 'dragon years'. I didn't even know if dragons like Tiamat aged like humans or more like cats and dogs.

Lady Chaos sighed, "I'm not going to bother asking anymore. Are you ready to return to Olympus now, or do you have any other surprises to spring."

"Nah, I'm ready to go." I replied with a shrug.

She snapped her fingers, I waved to the demigods one more time before we were teleported out and to the front doors to the throne room of Olympus. I turned to my mother and smiled.

"Thanks again mom, for everything you've ever done for me."

"Nonsense Blake, you're my son. I'd do anything fo-"

There was an explosion in the throne room that interrupted her before she could finish. I frowned, summoning Sky Scorcher from my inventory. I kicked the doors open and glared at the gathered gods and goddesses inside. A battle-worn Zeus was being restrained by Poseidon and Hades. Lena lay a few feet away clearly injured. Hera had a look of horror on her face when she saw me. The other gods and goddesses froze. Ares stumbled over a ruined pillar, ichor dripping from multiple wounds on his body. A deranged look in his eye. Hermes ran up to me with a worried look on his face.

"Please before you react you need to listen."

I shoved the messenger god out of my way, Hestia took his place and held her arms out.

"Please Blake, listen to me."

"Why? It's clear what happened here, Ares did something stupid Lena and Selene retaliated and Zeus, who's surprisingly still alive, attacked them both."

Hestia's face darkened, the hearth in the room flickered as a cold breeze blew in from behind me. I gently moved Hestia out of my way and knelt next to Lena. A single wave of my hand later and she was healed. She sat up with a gasp and looked around fearfully.

"What happened love?"

"I- w- Selene and I came in here to wait for you when Ares came in with his sons. T- they tried to force themselves on us but we fought back. On of his sons cast some sort of spell that meddled with my mind. I- Blake, oh no… Selene, Blake I- I tried, Zeus… he- he killed her."

Something inside me snapped, Gamer's Mind tried to restrain the rage that rushed through my body. The air grew heavy with my aura. Olympians gasped and fell to their knees. A storm formed outside and began to cast bolts of electricity that crashed through the roof of the throne room.

"B-Blake Please, stop! You're hurting people who had nothing to do with this." Lena cried out.

Lightning crackled along my spear as my eyes zeroed in on Ares. Faster than anyone could see I launched my spear at the god of war. The spear shot straight through the injured god before destroying the wall behind him in an explosion of power. Ares screamed as his divinity was torn from his body. I felt his domains get added on to mine but ignored them. I looked at the two unconscious sons of the war god.

"Tiamat, FEAST."

Tiamat burst from my tattoo in her draconian form and roared. The Olympians fell on their asses as Tiamat stomped over to the unconscious gods before ripping them to shreds with her jaws.

I watched in morbid fascination as she began to eat the now dead gods. Their divinities flowing into Tiamat as she let out another roar that shook the throne room.

Zeus had broken free from Poseidon and Hades' grasps, the former king was struggling to his feet. His eyes locked onto mine and he shouted.

"YOU DARE TRESPASS ON MY THRONE ROOM INSIGNIFICANT SORCERER!!!!"

Tiamat moved to attack the clearly deranged god. I held out a hand to stop her. Moving my hand back over to where I threw my spear I summoned Sky Scorcher back to my hand. Catching the spear I pushed a large chunk of my power into the divine weapon making it thrum with energy.

"For crimes against the House Corvinus, I Blake Corvinus, King of Olympus, God of Time, Lord of the Void. Sentence you to die."

My voice was steady, it echoed through out the room as if I was speaking from everywhere. Zeus gained a panicked look in his eyes when he realized he couldn't move.

Throwing my spear again it sailed through the air as if in slow motion. Tiamat breathed black flames on the spear igniting it with the unholy fire.

Zeus screamed as the spear reached him. The power I had pumped into the weapon vaporizing the god before his scream could even finish.

The spear struck the floor sending out a pulse of my power that nearly flattened the entire room of Lady Chaos hadn't shielded everything around the explosion. I quickly summoned the spear back to my hand and marched up to Hera who stumbled backwards just as she had gotten back up.

"Blake stop."

My mother reached out, at that moment she wasn't my mom, she was Lady Chaos. I felt her power being to reign my own raging sea of energy.

"Selene isn't dead." Hera cried out.

"Lies…" I hissed pushing power into my spear.

"She isn't lying Blake, no one her has the power to kill gods. Only you. Zeus may have struck her down but she isn't gone."

"THEN WHERE IS SHE!"

The Olympians flinched, Hades stepped forward. "She has most likely been sent to Tartarus. All immortals go there after they've been destroyed in the mortal world."

I glared at the death god, "Are you sure of this?"

"Yes Lord Corvinus, I swear on the river Styx and my immortality that what I have said is true."

A crack of thunder sealed the vow, I nodded to the god and turned to my mother.

"I can't interfere any more than I already have Blake." She said before I could ask her to send me to Tartarus.

"Fine, thanks anyways." I began to walk back to Lena.

My mother looked at me sadly before flashing away back to her realm. The Olympians looked panicked that the one being that could keep me in check had left.

"Lord Corvinus,' Hades called out. "There is a chasm in my realm that leads to Tartarus."

"I'll be there shortly then Hades, I must take care of my own first."

The god nodded, I helped Lena to her feet and looked at her. She looked at me with a bit of worry. I felt my rage slowly get down to a level where Gamer's Mind could take over its regulation. I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding.

"Are you alright love?"

"I'm fine, I- I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough t-"

I silenced her with a kiss, I had long since accepted her place in my life. We had been traveling together for a while and I had yet to show her true affection. The kiss was to make up for that, and to show her that I wasn't mad at her.

"Lena, it's not your fault. If anything I got careless and overconfident in my own abilities."

"But Selene…"

"Selene will be fine, I'll go find her and bring her home. Let's go back. The twins need to be told what happened."

She nodded and took my hand. I looked around the throne room one more time glaring at Hera before teleporting to my pocket dimension. There I released Lena's hand just as Luna and Aurora came running out of the house followed by Alruna. The Lycan had insisted on babysitting the twins while I dealt with the Olympians.

"Dad!" "Daddy!" The twins said in unison as they jumped into my arms.

They had grown bigger since I last saw them. They now looked around six or seven years old. They were still small enough that I could carry them both without much difficulty though.

"Girls, were you behaved?"

"They were my lord." Alruna responded for them.

"Yeah! We were good, we ate all our veggies." Luna grinned.

"Where's mom?" Asked Aurora noticing that Selene wasn't with Lena and I.

"Mommy had to deal with some bad people, I'm going to go help her in a bit."

Aurora didn't look like she believed me, out of the twins she was the most mature. She tended to know when people were lying or keeping something from her.

"Is she in trouble dad?"

"Just a bit princess, that's why I have to go and help her."

I set the twins down and they shared a look as if communicating telepathically.

"Can we come too?" Luna asked.

"Maybe some other time, it's still too dangerous."

"But we're really strong now daddy?" She pouted.

"I know my little moon, when you get bigger you can come with and fight some monsters okay?"

"But we are big!" Aurora added.

"Tell you what, Alruna and Aunt Lena can start training you guys and when I come back we can go on an adventure. How does that sound?"

They looked at each other again before turning back to me wearing matching smiles.

"Okay dad, we'll train real hard so we can kill bad guys with you."

'Insert record scratch here…' I mentally groaned.

They were too smart for their own good. I looked at Lena and Alruna, they had been keeping up with the conversation so I didn't need to repeat anything I said.

"Lena you can train them in swordplay and combat. Alruna will be in charge of teaching them about their abilities, it's only a matter of time before those start developing."

"It will be done my lord." Alruna bowed.

"We'll take care of them Blake, just bring Selene back safely."

I nodded and looked at my daughters. "Remember, train hard or I won't bring you on any adventures."

"Got it dad." Aurora said as she dragged Luna with her back to the house.

"Go, we've got this." Lena said.

"Alruna, on second thought. Come with me, I could use your skills."

The first werewolf nodded jumping back into her tattoo and without further delay I teleported back out to Olympus where Hades was waiting for me. The other Olympians seemed to be making themselves scarce.

"Lord Corvinus." The death god greeted.

"Hades, let's save the pleasantries for when I finish sorting this mess out yeah? Just take me to this chasm that leads to Tartarus."

Putting a hand on my shoulder Hades teleported us fraught to the Underworld. I had expected the place to be gloomy and gray, yet there were patches of nature in odd places. Hades seemed to have picked up on my thoughts.

"Persephone insists on some plant life, says that it makes the place look less crowded."

"Crowded?"

"Oh yeah, before the plants this place used to be crowded full of the dead waiting to pass on. The lines went all the way back to the lobby."

"You have a lobby, for the underworld."

"Modern problems require modern solutions."

I glared at the death god, "Right… I'll be off then."

"Lord Corvinus wait,' I stopped to look at him. "There's been an influx of monsters in the mortal realm. They shouldn't be reforming as fast as they are. If it's not too much to ask. Would you be so kind to find out why they're coming back so fast?"

"Do the monsters dusted in the mortal world go to Tartarus?"

"They do my lord, depending on their strength they can take anywhere from a few months to a few years to reform. Recently however they've been coming back in as little as mere days."

"Right, you guys don't have any problems with me killing them permanently right?"

"Not at all my lord, it would make things easier with less monsters."

"Good, cause I have a feeling that I'll be killing quite a few monsters down there."

When Hades didn't respond I gave him one last nod before jumping into the chasm.
