Genshin Impact: I'm The Envoy of Snezhnaya

Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Help Me Train a New Recruit

The missionary was in a bad mood.

After hearing that the serpent-shaped black fire had appeared, he rushed over immediately.

He didn't expect to find the person responsible, but instead encountered someone else who could also use black fire.

Indeed, he had realized that the black fire from the diplomat's death and the black fire from today's Fatui attack were not the same.

Although both targeted the Fatui, the abilities they used were different.

The serpent-shaped black fire was from the remnants he had discarded as failures.

He hadn't expected that someone had survived and persisted until now.

If he could capture that person and bring them to his master, it would certainly earn him a reward.

But the strange blue-haired man who appeared later was also a target.

He could tell that the man was using a Delusion, and it was one of the early versions.

Compared to the remnants, the Delusion-wielder might attract more attention from his master.

That's why he had been tracking the mysterious blue-haired man today, but the guy was too slippery.

He led them around the wilderness, then into the Thousand Winds Temple area, triggering the Ruin Guards' defense systems. As a result, the missionary lost more than half of his men.

"Do you need my help?" Bai Luo asked, holding a sleeping kitten in his arms.

The cat, wrapped in bandages like a little mummy, seemed to have come from Sumeru.

"Thank you for your kindness, Ausbilder, but there's no need," the missionary replied sincerely.

He wasn't being sarcastic—he really didn't want Bai Luo to intervene.

Having worked with him before, he knew how effective Bai Luo's methods could be.

If he got involved, the Delusion-wielder would likely end up dead.

To his master, the Doctor, only living test subjects had value.

Dead bodies were just useless flesh, and the Doctor had plenty of that to experiment on.

"Fair enough. By the way, do you have some time these days?" Bai Luo asked, gently petting the kitten in his arms. The kitten's ears twitched unconsciously.

"Do you need something?" The missionary felt a bit surprised, wondering if their past collaborations were the reason for the request.

"Nothing major. I just have a new recruit I want to train," Bai Luo smiled warmly, seemingly concerned about this recruit.

"But, Ausbilder, I'm not good at holding back. What if I hurt them?" The missionary, now partially corrupted by the archon residue, was cautious.

If he accidentally lost control and harmed the recruit, it would be bad. He didn't want to offend Bai Luo.

"Don't worry, I'll be watching. Besides, if I stepped in, do you think that little recruit would leave Mondstadt alive?"

"I see. Understood." Since Bai Luo had reassured him, the missionary had no choice but to agree.

After all, while he wasn't an executive, he sometimes assisted the Doctor with training new recruits, as long as they weren't killed or severely injured.

"Thank you for helping her." The missionary didn't notice the playful change in Bai Luo's smile.

As the first rays of morning sunlight entered the room, they gently bathed the little kitten in Bai Luo's arms.

The kitten's ears twitched, its whiskers quivered, and its tail swiped at its body as if trying to brush off a bug.

But then, the kitten's body began to lengthen, its fur disappearing, transforming into a human shape.

"Ugh…" Collei groggily sat up and stretched lazily.

Halfway through, she suddenly realized something and hurriedly rushed to the bathroom.

Standing before the mirror, she confirmed that she was back to her human form and sighed with relief—no aftereffects.

She hadn't expected Bai Luo to pour that magic potion on her yesterday, and when it took effect, she felt dazed, like she was drunk.

It was fortunate she had no awareness at the time, or Teyvat might have witnessed a cat wielding a sword—not to mention biting it, properly.

"You should skip breakfast today. I've heard that the sealing process is like riding a roller coaster—makes you dizzy." Bai Luo appeared behind her, holding a sandwich and juice while eating happily.

"Isn't a meat sandwich too much for breakfast? Also, what's a roller coaster?"

"Hmm... it's like when I carry you and fly through Lisa's window."

"Oh, that's not so bad—"

"Except you're flying up, down, left, and right at high speeds."

"..."

After his explanation, Collei suddenly lost any appetite for the sandwich and juice.

"Let's go. Time is running out. That little wolf pup has already left, and we need to hurry." It was just after eight in the morning, but there was still a considerable distance from Mondstadt to Starsnatch Cliff.

It wasn't possible to arrive right on time, and Bai Luo, ever cautious, wanted to leave early to avoid any delays, like encountering monsters.

Starsnatch Cliff, located to the south of Mondstadt, is a high, protruding cliff that towers over the surrounding plains.

It's known for its beautiful Cecilia flowers and especially for its breathtaking night view. Standing atop the cliff, it feels as if one could reach out and pluck the stars from the sky.

Perhaps due to the flower's meaning of "a traveler's true feelings," many couples come here to date, making it one of Mondstadt's top three romantic spots.

How many lovesick people had sworn eternal vows under the witness of the stars?

But if they knew that even the stars were a lie, what would their faces look like?

For Bai Luo, this was its own kind of torment.

Who knew why there wasn't a teleport waypoint up here? Was it because of the lack of ley lines?

Back in the game, when he was using Venti to gather materials, he either had to climb until he was exhausted or run until his legs gave out.

It was pure agony.

Luckily, this wasn't a game, and he didn't have a stamina bar or need to run everywhere on foot.

He had specially arranged for a wind slime-powered balloon, a modified cargo transport once used by Diluc.

Although it wasn't as fast as a horse, it was comfortable and didn't chafe his legs.

By the time Bai Luo and Collei arrived at Starsnatch Cliff, Cyno was already waiting, and the sealing ritual had been prepared.
