Chapter 371: The Resolve Of An Emperor!

Noah nodded seriously, seeing his friend pleading with him. He knew how important pride was to the people of this world, and he would never dare to trample on the pride of his friend. He would go to lengths to protect the honor of his friends and family.

"Can I come along with you?" Just as Noah was about to leave, he was stopped by someone. 'Déjà vu?'

"Why do you want to come along?" Noah raised his eyebrows, seeing Ruo'er approaching.

"I want to help in bringing them back–"

"The real reason?" Noah stopped her with a plain voice. Ruo'er bit her lip, "I want to use this chance to go out and train."

Seeing the frown on Wuhan's face, she immediately explained. "I know that lives are on the line, and I promise I won't slow you down or interfere in your way of bringing them back. I will just fight the people I can deal with on the side, making way for you to deal with the rest."

Noah looked at Wuhan, waiting for him to make a decision. Seeing Noah looking at him, Wuhan shook his head, "It's up to you. I just want all of them back safely; I don't care about the pretext."

Noah nodded and turned to look at Ruo'er with a serious look on his face. "You will follow my words out there. You will only engage when I tell you to."

"I promise!" Ruo'er nodded with a resolute look on her face. Noah sneaked some looks at Xin Yan, who had been oddly silent throughout the whole ordeal.

He was further puzzled when he saw her smiling as she looked at them.

'Come back safely.' Seeing him looking in her direction, she waved her hand while sending a thought transmission.

'I will.'

"Before I forget, take this." Wuhan suddenly took out a token from his storage ring and passed it to Noah. It was a golden pentagon-shaped token with a dragon carved on it.

"This is my personal token. If the need arises, you can show it and say the emperor sent you." Noah listened while carefully examining the token. "No one will dare to stop you. If they still dare to stop you, I will leave the decision up to you."

Noah raised his eyebrows, seeing the look of trust in Wuhan's eyes, and nodded.

Soon the three of them walked out of the sect. Wuhan made his way towards the capital city while Noah and Ruo'er jumped on a ship to move in a different direction.

*Woosh!*

Watching them disappear into the distance, Xin Yan thought with a smile. 'Letting them bond should be a good thing. After all, he will be her father-in-law soon. Ah~ I should go back to my sword training.'

*Zheng!*

In next to no time, Noah and Ruo'er arrived at the same place where Song Liu's ship was ambushed. He stopped in the middle of the air before lowering the boat and looked around.

"This place looks normal, why are there no traces of fighting?" Ruo'er asked while looking around with a confused look on her face.

"Because the fight did not happen here," Noah commented before looking up. His eyes turned into vertical slits as an entirely different view appeared before his eyes. They glowed white and black.

The world before his eyes changed; he could see all kinds of colors filled up in the sky. He could see different colors of qi in the air.

Since he was familiar with Shisan's qi, he could easily notice the dark-colored qi that was still lingering in the air.

'Those two should be the qi that belongs to the enemy group. Were there only two of them, or more?' Noah looked around and wondered.

He could identify them because of the intensity of the Qi. One was of similar strength as of Shisan while the other was even more potent.

'Fire qi of this quality. It should be a big sect related to alchemy. I should really start to learn about the major forces in the empire.'

"Did you find something?" Seeing Noah looking around, Ruo'er could not take it anymore and asked.

"Ah? Yeah, a lot of things. But we are not here to look for the enemy. We are only here to bring our people back. If we find an enemy on the way, we will deal with them." Hearing Noah's words, Ruo'er immediately wanted to retort. She wanted to ask why they were not looking for their enemy after what they did to their own people.

But then she remembered the promise she made before leaving. She stopped herself from talking and nodded.

Noah noticed everything from the corner of his eye and smiled seeing her reaction.

*Woosh!*

"Well then, let's look for our lost members." Noah raised the ship high in the air and closed his eyes before spreading his soul sense everywhere around the forest.

On the other side, Wuhan arrived back in the Royal Palace and entered the throne room.

*Clang!*

The guards at the gate bowed to him before opening the gates. Upon entering the throne room, his eyes landed on the minister who was talking to one of the many scholars under him.

"Your Majesty!" Seeing Wuhan enter, they both bowed in unison to show their respects to the emperor.

'Something's wrong!' Being the person closest to Wuhan, the minister knew him for a long time, and he could tell that something was wrong just from his facial expressions.

"Rise!" Wuhan's cold yet authoritative words echoed in the throne room, making the two men shiver in fright.

"How is the work that I have assigned you proceeding?" Walking past the two of them, Wuhan stepped on the steps leading to the throne.

*Tap!*

Turning around, he sat on the throne while looking down at his subordinates. The minister shivered feeling Wuhan's gaze on him and thought.

'What a familiar gaze… How… thrilling, looks like the emperor is finally getting serious.'

"Ah~ Just as you ordered, Your Majesty, I have gathered almost all of the information you need on this scroll." With a happy look on his face, the minister walked up and presented a scroll to Wuhan while kneeling in front of him.

"If it's not too much to ask, may I ask what His Majesty is planning?" The minister raised his head, saying those words only to tremble to see Wuhan's cold gaze.

Wuhan shifted his gaze from the minister to the man behind him

before exclaiming, "Waves of changes will be coming in the future. It will shake the roots of the whole empire."

*Boom!*

Wuhan's words were like thunders in the ears of the listeners; they shook the atmosphere of the room. The minister and the scholar shivered for different reasons. But one thing was certain for both of them, and it was that Wuhan made a deep impression on both of them.
