God Level Farmer In Another World

Chapter 178: Chapter 177: The Returning Monsters

Chapter 177: The Returning Monsters

White Mountain City

Monsters with intelligence or even a trace of cunning had long since fled from White Mountain City.

Only the beast-like monsters, driven by their lust for flesh and blood, continued to recklessly charge at the city, undeterred by the hail of bullets and barrage of attacks.

These monsters were not a significant threat, but even so, the city guards paid a heavy price to eliminate them.

Though the monster crisis seemed resolved, the residents of White Mountain City remained on edge, their hearts heavy with worry.

Because compared to the monsters' assault, the true fear lay in the eruption of the Changbai Mountain Tianchi Volcano.

A city guard sat by the wall, holding a photo of his wife, his face somber.

He longed to return to the city, to see his wife one last time.

At that moment, a murmur of confusion broke the silence atop the city wall.

"What's happening to Changbai Mountain?"

"I can feel the fiery energy from the mountain weakening!"

The city guards looked toward the smoke-shrouded peak of Changbai Mountain, their faces filled with disbelief.

The towering volcanic ash and surging magma seemed to freeze in place.

Awakened individuals with strong perception or high-tier abilities noticed the volcanic ash and magma converging toward a single point.

That point resembled a black hole, sucking in the entire volcanic disaster.

Among those fighting the monsters, Jack stood frozen, staring at Changbai Mountain.

He clearly saw a purple glow covering the magma.

As one of the few who had witnessed Alexander's soul fruit abilities, Jack immediately understood.

"It's the president… he's still as terrifying as ever," Jack murmured with a complex expression.

His former classmate now had the power to contend with natural disasters.

Jack glanced at Mark nearby.

Why did I ever think hanging out with a bunch of thugs was a good idea?

If I had befriended Alexander like this deadweight Mark, wouldn't I have had a thick, powerful backer to cling to now?

"Dad! Over there at Changbai Mountain, the magma's flowing in one direction like it's being flushed down a drain!"

Mark's talent, Airflow Perception, granted him heightened sensory abilities.

He excitedly described the changes in Changbai Mountain to Carl Ruffelo.

Carl Ruffelo smiled with relief.

He immediately deduced that whoever was stopping the volcanic eruption was likely a companion of the masked figure on the city wall.

After all, that masked figure was the only unpredictable variable in White Mountain City.

Carl Ruffelo glanced at Jack and caught him staring enviously at his son.

Frowning slightly, Carl Ruffelo seemed deep in thought.

Just then, a city guard let out a heart-wrenching cry:

"Monsters! The monsters are back!"

Carl Ruffelo shook off his thoughts and rushed to the wall, looking out into the distance.

With the volcanic eruption crisis resolved, many monsters could no longer resist the temptation of flesh and blood and were returning to attack White Mountain City!

Carl Ruffelo's heart tensed as he drew his longsword and roared:

"Don't panic, brothers!

The strongest of these returning monsters is no higher than Class C!

Heaven protects White Mountain!

We survived nature's wrath, and we won't fear these wretches!

Heavy firepower, prepare to engage!"

The bullets on the wall had been exhausted, so some awakened individuals equipped with standard longbows drew their strings, infusing spiritual energy into the arrows, which began to shimmer with various hues.

Awakened individuals with ranged abilities stood ready like mages, forming hand seals and preparing to unleash their powers.

Having survived the volcanic eruption, everyone felt as though they had been given a second chance at life.

Grateful for their survival, they were now full of determination, their eyes fierce.

Hearing that the returning monsters were only Class C increased their confidence.

Without the threat of Class B monsters, Carl Ruffelo, the Chief of the Security Bureau, became their unshakable pillar of support.

Three kilometers from the Tianchi crater on Changbai Mountain

Alexander lay on the ground.

The magma and volcanic ash surged toward him like rivers flowing into the sea, endlessly pouring into his body.

His entire figure glowed with a dark red light, and thick volcanic ash and black smoke flowed into his ears, nose, and mouth like sentient streams.

Alexander trembled violently, his eyes filled with pain and terror.

The incomplete way he was attempting to absorb the volcanic magma caused excruciating agony. He couldn't even let out a scream.

It felt like tens of thousands of needles were piercing through his veins, every breath a torturous luxury.

The White Python Shadowflame coiled around Alexander, hissing toward the chimera in the sky, as if issuing a warning.

The chimera, however, merely hovered above, coldly watching the scene unfold.

It had no intention of intervening at the moment.

If Alexander were to die now, the volcanic magma would erupt violently again, and Changbai Mountain would return to being a sea of fire.

Moreover, the proud chimera wouldn't allow itself to take advantage of another's misfortune.

This wasn't due to some lofty moral code but rather because it saw such actions as an affront to its own unyielding pride.

James stood frozen in place, wide-eyed and unsure of what to do.

Although the volcanic magma hadn't harmed him, he was surrounded by monsters.

With the volcanic eruption crisis averted, many nearby monsters, drawn by the unique scent of humans, began closing in.

They were eager to devour both Alexander and James.

Their only hesitation was the magma rushing toward Alexander like rivers.

Once the magma receded, the monsters would pounce without hesitation.

Alexander's terrifying and mysterious strength was beyond James's imagination, but Alexander's condition was clearly not right.

James tightened the Security Bureau jacket that Mark had given him around his body, his eyes full of unease.

Surrounded by red-eyed, ravenous monsters and with the intimidating chimera looming above, James felt that today might very well be the day he died.

The area was suffused with a strange black and red hue as the volcanic magma and ash were finally absorbed into Alexander's body.

"Ugh."

Alexander let out a muffled groan, trying to stand.

But the tearing pain, searing burns, the depletion of his spiritual energy, and the immense toll on his lifespan left him unable to rise.

He shakily knelt on the ground.

Alexander's appearance had undergone a dramatic transformation.

His hair was now completely white, and black-and-red streaks crisscrossed his face like scars.

He looked down at his hands, which emitted steam as the black-and-red lines slithered across his skin like molten lava, serpentine and alive.

"Roar!"

A monster, now certain the volcanic magma was gone, lunged eagerly at Alexander, its mouth dripping with saliva.

The White Python Shadowflame, which had coiled protectively around Alexander, went unnoticed by the monster.

Perhaps low-level monsters couldn't sense the terror of the Shadowflame, or perhaps they mistook it for a fellow creature.

Alexander's cold gaze pierced through the pain and weakness as he stretched out a hand, attempting to channel his spiritual energy.

A wave of dizziness hit him, and he nearly passed out.

The White Python Shadowflame roared, and the low-level monster was instantly engulfed in white flames.

In the blink of an eye, the monster vanished, leaving no ashes, no trace—nothing to suggest it had ever existed.

Alexander ignored the remaining low-level monsters, instead turning his attention toward White Mountain City.

If the monsters of Changbai Mountain stopped fleeing due to the volcanic crisis being resolved, White Mountain City would face catastrophic danger.

Too many monsters had escaped into the city.

Now, White Mountain City was like a cake left exposed in the sewers, attracting swarms of ravenous rats eager for a bite.

Jack's soul fruit abilities were unusable, and both Mark and Carl Ruffelo were certain to meet their end in the stomachs of monsters!

Without a moment of hesitation, Alexander reached into his coat and pulled out two Super Fruits, handing them to James.

"Eat them."
