GODGEAR - JOURNEY TO SAVE EDEN

Chapter 7: Wings of War

The battlefield was chaos. Blood soaked the earth, mingling with shattered stones and the dying screams of fallen warriors. Jareth stood at the center of it all, his GODGEAR shimmering with a faint golden glow. The massive, one-eyed giant before him let out a deafening roar, its crimson eye locked on him with searing intensity.

He tightened his grip on his GOD sword after getting it back , the weight of it familiar and reassuring. But as he shifted his stance, preparing to strike, a sudden blow sent him reeling.

The giant had struck the ground with a devastating swing, the shockwave sending debris flying. Jareth lost his footing, and before he could recover, the giant's next swing caught the hilt of his sword, flinging it from his grasp.

"No!" Jareth shouted, watching in horror as the sword spun through the air and disappeared into the rubble far below.

The giant's guttural laughter echoed across the battlefield, and Jareth's heart pounded. His mind raced. Without his sword, he was vulnerable.

From deep within him, the voice of the Dragon Ancient God rumbled like distant thunder.

"You have not lost your strength, Jareth. The sword was but a tool. You are far more. Now, let me guide you."

Jareth gritted his teeth, his wings twitching behind him. They still felt awkward, foreign. The Dragon God's voice grew firmer, almost impatient.

"Your wings are a part of you now. You hesitate because they are new, but trust in them, and they will not fail you. You don't need the sword to fight—you need me."

The giant roared again, its massive eye narrowing as it stomped toward him. Jareth clenched his fists, his body trembling with frustration. He didn't feel ready, but he had no choice.

"Fine," he muttered. "Let's see what these wings can do."

He crouched low, his taloned hands digging into the cracked earth. The giant raised its massive arm, ready to crush him. Jareth launched forward, sprinting with all his might. The ground quaked beneath him, but he didn't stop.

"Good," the Dragon God encouraged. "Now, release them. Let your wings take over."

The instant he was within striking distance, Jareth spread his wings wide. With a powerful whoosh, they propelled him upward, the force of the lift cracking the ground beneath him. He ascended, the wind tearing at his face, and for a brief moment, he felt weightless.

The giant swiped at him, but Jareth twisted in midair, his wings adjusting with surprising ease. The Dragon God's voice was steady and reassuring.

"Feel them. They are your shield and your sword. Strike now!"

Jareth roared as he tucked his wings and dove, aiming straight for the giant's eye. His claws ignited with golden flames, burning brighter as he closed the distance. With a ferocious cry, he plunged his talons into the beast's crimson eye.

The impact sent a shockwave rippling outward. Black ichor sprayed from the wound, and the giant let out an ear-splitting howl of pain. Jareth wrenched his claws free, tearing through flesh and bone as he flipped backward. His wings flared wide, catching him in midair.

Hovering above the battlefield, he looked down at the staggering giant, its massive hands clutching at its ruined eye. A flicker of triumph surged through him, but it was short-lived.

From below, a grotesque sound filled the air—a sickening rip of flesh and bone. Jareth's eyes darted downward, and his heart sank.

The other demons on the battlefield were convulsing, their bodies writhing as something pushed from within. Their skin split open along their backs, and with a wet tear, jagged wings burst forth. Blood sprayed across the field as the demons howled in agony, their glowing eyes burning with renewed malice.

"What the hell…" Jareth muttered, his wings faltering for a moment as he hovered above the carnage.

The Dragon God's voice cut through his disbelief, sharp and commanding. "Focus, Jareth. They are adapting. If you hesitate, you will not survive. Fight!"

The newly-winged demons launched themselves into the sky, their chaotic movements erratic but dangerously fast. Jareth counted at least a dozen of them closing in on his position.

He raised his claws, golden flames flickering at their tips. The first demon lunged at him, its serrated wings slicing through the air. Jareth twisted, barely dodging the attack, and countered with a swipe of his own. His claws ripped through the demon's chest, sending it plummeting to the ground.

Another demon struck from behind, but his wings instinctively folded, shielding him from the blow. Jareth spun around, slashing through his attacker with a burst of energy.

The Dragon God's voice echoed in his mind, fierce and unyielding. "Good! You are learning. Use your wings. Trust their strength!"

Jareth's movements became more fluid, his wings adjusting with every strike and dodge. The sky became a battlefield, filled with the clash of claws and the roar of wings. Blood and ash filled the air as he tore through the swarm, his GODGEAR pulsing with power.

But the demons were relentless. For every one he struck down, another two took its place. Jareth's muscles burned, his body screaming for rest, but he refused to falter.

As he sliced through another demon, the Dragon God's voice rose, booming with encouragement.

"You are not alone, Jareth. Together, we will end this. Now, let us show them the true power of the skies!"

Jareth roared in defiance, his wings flaring wide as golden flames erupted from his claws. The battle was far from over, but he was ready to face it.
