Chapter 99: Chapter 99 No Touching
Law could be considered an all-rounder when it came to Nen. Theoretically, as long as he understands the principles of a Nen Ability, he can basically imitate them if his Awakening Rates are high enough.
For example, Gon's Jajanken wouldn't be too challenging for Law to replicate given his current skill.
Just now, he sent the Nen Ability out of his body and onto the case ten meters away, which was to use the characteristics of the Emission Category to use his God Hand.
Sanbica's ability to control viruses, if understood literally, seemed to fall under Manipulation Category, though it could potentially be Specialization Category.
If Law could fully grasp the mechanics of her Nen Ability and combine it with God Hand, perhaps he could do it. However, Law wanted to control not only viruses, but many more subtle substances, such as bones and blood.
Moreover, Law did not ignore the fact that Sanbica had touched the virus samples barehanded to analyze them. That should be the effect of an ability related to analysis, just like his white smoke text, which allowed her to extract vast amounts of information from physical contact.
There was something else that caught his attention, that was, Sanbica's hands after she took off her gloves. They were pale and veins were bulging, and he could vaguely see the fine blood vessels. Perhaps this was the reason why Sanbica was dressed so tightly, or maybe... it's because her body was too weak?
Regardless, conclusion was clear: he had to keep Sanbica by his side, even if it's just temporarily.
"I'll give you the G2 Virus, but I have a condition."
Law stared at Sanbica as if he was looking at a rare animal, and the latter was so frightened by his gaze that she took several steps back.
"Don't worry, it's nothing unreasonable. Besides, it's up to you to decide whether to agree or not. I won't force you."
However, as he said that, Law walked towards her with a strange smile, like a weird uncle who wanted to force a little girl into the corner.
Despite being a few years older, Sanbica was forced back several steps by Law, and felt like turning around and running away.
Sanbica backed away, and shouted nervously, "Stop right there and talk."
Law stopped, and a smile flashed in his eyes. He shrugged, and said: "Alright, my condition is..."
…
A few minutes later, Sanbica, who reluctantly agreed to the conditions, followed Law into the mansion. Before entering the building, she saw with her own eyes that Law extinguished the flames that had been raging just moments ago with a wave of his hand, leaving her more puzzled than ever.
'The ability to suffocate a target silently? The ability to stop a bullet and then fire it back? The ability to cut an object into countless pieces? The ability to extinguish a raging fire with a wave of the hand?'
With Sanbica's current understanding, she could not connect these abilities together, which made Law seem very unfathomable. When she considered Law's age, the mystery surrounding him was both intimidating and awe-inspiring to her.
After entering the building, on their way to the monitoring room, Sanbica saw the aftermath of Law's work. The hallways were littered with bodies, with blood pooling in rivers across the floor.
The first corpses she saw had been decapitated, which is a method she attributed entirely to Law's handiwork.
'So many different ways to die...'
Sanbica glanced at Law and asked, "Did you kill all of them?"
Law nodded silently in confirmation.
Seeing Law nod, Sanbica said nothing further.
Walking through the hallway paved with headless corpses, and finally arriving at the inner courtyard in front of the monitoring room, a grotesque scene unfolded before Sanbica's eyes, causing her black pupils to tremble slightly.
There were two ways of death for the bodies present. One was like the more than 60 bodies outside, suffocation. The other was like Law cutting the case, where the bodies were cut into dozens of pieces.
A large amount of blood almost spread throughout the entire inner courtyard, and the air was filled with a strong and pungent smell of blood.
Seeing this scene, Sanbica's face turned even paler, and she couldn't help but ask, "Did you kill these people too?"
Law stopped at the edge of the pool of blood, glanced back at Sanbica, and said calmly, "That's right."
Sanbica's eyes narrowed slightly, 'If he could kill so many people by suffocating them alone, why resort to decapitation or dismemberment? It seemed unnecessarily cruel.'
However, she didn't know the situation Law was facing at that time, which is why she made such a judgment.
The bodies cut into pieces in the inner courtyard were not Law's intention, as he just wanted to verify the method of killing the enemy without taking up pages of the book. However, the expanded scope caused his control accuracy over God Hand to not keep up, which led to the death of some Mafia's members from the actual effect of God Hand.
"Do you think it's cruel?" Law sighed and looked at the hellscape in front of them. He said calmly: "I didn't expect that I would kill so many people. A few months ago, this would have been unthinkable for me."
"Besides, I don't feel like I've done anything wrong. In fact, some part of me believes this is the path I was meant to take. Call it self-justification if you like."
At this point, Law chuckled bitterly and said, "Since you are a doctor, you must be disgusted with me now, right? If you want to back out, it's not too late. I won't stop you."
Sanbica looked ahead and was silent. After a moment of silence, she said, "Ever since I can remember, the phrase I've heard the most is: Sanbica, your existence is meant to benefit all of humanity. From now on, you must always keep that in mind."
Law's faint smile faded and he turned his head to look at Sanbica.
"My father told me that. Even now, I still don't fully understand the significance of the term 'all of humanity', but I'm certain those corpses don't count. So, their deaths have nothing to do with me, nor are they worth dwelling on."
After Sanbica finished speaking, she took a step forward without fear of the pool of blood in front of her.
"Wait."
Law suddenly stretched out his hand and pressed it on Sanbica's shoulder, trying to stop her from stepping into the pool of blood.
However, as soon as Law's hand touched Sanbica's shoulder, the latter instinctively struggled away, as if deeply averse to physical touch.
"Add a condition to your terms: no touching me." Sanbica said as she turned around and looked at Law.
"Okay." Law smiled bitterly. He had no intention of taking advantage of her, as he just wanted to use his ability to separate the blood to prevent the two from stepping on it.
Without explaining himself, he walked at the front. After activating his Nen Ability, the blood on the ground automatically separated, revealing a clean path for them to walk.
Seeing this, Sanbica vaguely understood something and followed Law silently.
The two walked across the pool of blood and went straight into the monitoring room, where they reunited with Kenda and the others.
As soon as Law appeared, Ellie rushed toward him and threw herself into his arms.
Caught off guard, Law had no choice but to hug her back. Then, he looked at Kenda and said, "All the enemies have been dealt with. I'll likely be leaving soon."
"Law, you're leaving?" Ellie suddenly looked up and looked at Law with wide eyes.
"Well, almost everything has been resolved, and I can't just stay here forever." Law said.
Ellie pursed her lips and tried to persuade him, "Can't you stay?"
"I'm sorry, Ellie, but I've got a lot of other things to take care of." Law patted Ellie's head. He had absorbed the Nen from Barney's collections, and his strength has greatly increased. Therefore, he should be able to go back to Meteor City to take Shin from the Elder.
Ellie was immediately disappointed when she heard this.
"Law, can you at least wait until my arm has fully healed before you go?" Kenda asked.
"I'm not leaving immediately. After all, there are still a few loose ends to tie up." Law thought of the five bodies outside the house, and then suddenly looked at Sanbica as if he had thought of something, and asked, "Can your Nen Ability help Kenda's arm heal faster?"
Sanbica nodded and said, "Yes, it can."
Using viruses to treat injuries, perhaps only Sanbica can do it.
Law was quite surprised to hear Sanbica's answer. He had only asked on a whim, but he didn't expect her to really be able to do so.
This way, he wouldn't have to stay here too long and could return to Meteor City as soon as possible.
'However, before going back to Meteor City, the issue of the number of pages must be dealt with first. After all, if I want to take Shin, I will most likely have to face the entire Meteor City, and the more pages I have, the better.'
The method of adding pages to the book should, if nothing unexpected happens, save lives, but even for a doctor, saving one person a day is probably the limit.
Law is not a doctor, and it is not easy to find an environment where he can save a lot of lives so that he can quickly add more pages to the book.
Law had thought about this problem carefully before, and finally came up with a solution, which is... the Hunter Exam!
