Haikyuu - I Am A Different Hinata!

Chapter 28: Chapter 28 - The Intensive Training begins

Hinata had just arrived home after the game against the Karasuno Neighborhood Association, finished dinner, and was sitting at his study desk.

"Playing volleyball is fun, but if I don't study and get bad grades, I might have problems in the future," Hinata thought as he started his homework.

"But that doesn't stop me from training even now... IT'S TIME TO START THE NEW TRAINING!: WRITING WITH MY LEFT HAND!" He thought.

"With this training, I plan to become ambidextrous and add fake attacks to my repertoire by changing which hand I'll hit the ball with at the last second to trick the blockers! However, I don't know if I'll be able to master this skill since not everyone can become ambidextrous even when trying their hardest," Hinata thought.

"So I'll continue solving these math equations with my left hand while I grab potato chips with my right hand and EAT!" Hinata thought as he finished his homework before going to bed.

The next day after classes, Hinata went straight to Karasuno's volleyball club gymnasium.

"Alright! The practice match against Nekoma is in four days, and the interhigh preliminaries will follow right after, and you guys aren't ready yet! So let's start intensive training!" Ukai declared.

"Yes!" Everyone shouted in unison.

The practice began with players doing a rotation of receives where they had to receive some spikes from Ukai, who was on the other side of the net, standing on a table and spiking over it.

"HEY! How many tries do you need to get the last one?!" Ukai shouted at Yamaguchi, who was having trouble completing his rotation, but after Ukai's push, he managed to roll on the floor and make the receive.

"Alright! Next!" Ukai shouted. Hinata stepped forward and prepared for his rotation of receives, and immediately saw his coach make a spike that came straight at him, making the receive easy.

"The first one is always the easiest," Hinata thought, and for the next spike, he had to anticipate and move to his left side to make the receive. On the third spike, he had to jump and dive to the left, and on the fourth, he had to do the same to the right.

"Let's see if you can get this one!" said Ukai, who made a spike without much power but made it fall near the net, and Hinata, who was at the back of the court, had to push himself and run to manage to dive and put his hand between the floor and the ball.

"Phew! If I had been a little later, I wouldn't have made that receive!" Hinata thought.

"Hey, Hinata! There's nothing cool about those dives of yours! If you want, I can teach you my rolling thunder later!" said Nishinoya.

"But you're the only one who thinks that's cool, HAHA!" Tanaka laughed.

"Alright! Now let's move on to spike training!" Ukai declared.

The players divided the court where some of them would receive sets from Kageyama and others from Sugawara.

The spikes started with Kageyama setting for Tanaka, who jumped and spiked.

"Nice spike!" Everyone shouted in unison.

"That was a good spike!" Ukai thought, looking surprised.

Then it was Asahi's turn, who received the set from Sugawara and also spiked easily.

"Nice spike!" Everyone shouted in unison.

"As expected from the Ace, he did well too!" Ukai observed.

Next was Hinata's turn to spike, receiving the set from Kageyama.

"Now it's the prodigy boy's moment!" Ukai got excited. Hinata prepared and ran, then received the pass from Kageyama.

"Let's try this!" Hinata thought while in the air watching the ball coming his way. He waited for the ball to pass the angle of his right hand and tried to hit it with his left hand but ended up hitting the net with a weak spike, surprising everyone.

"What the hell was that, Haha," Tsukishima laughed.

"Hey! Aren't you right-handed? Why did you hit with your left hand?" Ukai questioned.

"I want to know too," said Kageyama.

"That? Nothing much... just trying to develop a new weapon," Hinata said casually.

"WHAT? You want to become ambidextrous!? Are you crazy?"

"What's the problem, you think I can't do it?!" Hinata complained.

"Stop fighting, now! Let's continue practice!" Ukai ordered.

"Seriously... don't you ever get tired of developing these weapons?" Tanaka asked.

"Of course not! How am I going to become the best player in the world if I keep being content with what I already have!" Hinata responded.

They continued training until nightfall, and the Karasuno players went to a cabin where they would stay during training.

"I can't believe we're going to stay here with Shimizu! It feels like a dream!" said Nishinoya.

"Definitely!" Tanaka agreed.

"Just so you know, Shimizu's house is nearby so she won't be sleeping here," said Sugawara, whose words seemed to have taken the souls from their bodies until the kitchen door opened revealing Takeda and Shimizu who had prepared dinner.

The club members could be seen frantically eating the prepared food. "Hey, did you know about the dark history of this place?" said Hinata.

"What history?" asked Yamaguchi.

"I heard there were reports of students who stayed here seeing a ghost of a boy in the hallway during the night..." Hinata said darkly.

"What? Really?" asked Asahi, shrinking in fear.

"Who's going to believe such nonsense..." said Tsukishima disinterestedly.

"OF COURSE THAT'S A LIE!" shouted Tanaka.

"Alright... alright... don't say I didn't warn you..." said Hinata.

After finishing dinner, they went to take a bath.

"Hey, Hinata! What's wrong?" said Tanaka, who had just finished bathing.

"I must be seeing things..." said Hinata in a dark tone.

"Stop trying to scare me!" Tanaka complained.

"Tanaka... don't look behind you..." Hinata warned...

"What? Are you going to say there's a ghost?" said Tanaka mockingly and then turning around and observing the figure of a child standing there.

"GH...GHOST!!" He screamed, hiding behind Hinata.

"Hey! Ryu! Why are you screaming... Daichi will get angry!" Nishinoya warned.

"Wait... it's just Noya!" said Tanaka.

"Wait... SO YOU TOLD THAT STORY JUST TO TRICK ME! HINATA YOU BASTARD!" shouted Tanaka.

"I thought Nishinoya would look even more like a dwarf with wet hair!" Hinata observed while dodging Tanaka's attacks. "WHO ARE YOU CALLING A DWARF?!" shouted Nishinoya, joining Tanaka in trying to land a hit on Hinata, who continued to dodge.

"Don't make so much noise... or Daichi will get furious..." said Asahi, who had his hair down and falling in his face, making him look gloomy.

"WHO ARE YOU?!" shouted Tanaka and Nishinoya, frightened.

"It's me, Asahi," said Asahi until he was interrupted by Daichi's shout.

"SHUT UP!!" Daichi yelled furiously.
