Chapter 10: Chaos at King's Cross
On the last day of summer vacation, Mrs. Weasley prepared a grand dinner.
Everyone was having a wonderful time, enjoying an elaborate feast prepared by Mrs. Weasley, watching the intricate fireworks display by Fred and George, which had seemingly been enhanced by them. Orange, red, and blue stars filled the kitchen, bouncing between the ceiling and walls for at least half an hour.
By ten o'clock in the evening, after savoring the final cup of hot chocolate, everyone retired to bed.
Sharing the same bed with Harry, Evan could feel Harry tossing and turning incessantly, which greatly unsettled him as he tried to sleep.
The next morning, Harry got up early, wearing a solemn expression.
"Evan, I dreamt that I turned into a large snake last night, and... Well, the dream was dreadful!"
"Harry, you're just anxious about starting school," sighed Evan.
"I hope everything goes well today," said Harry.
Apparently, his wish went awry; after breakfast, everyone was running around like headless chickens. Mrs. Weasley hurriedly searched for spare socks and blankets, the twins collided on the stairs, while Mr. Weasley rushed to the car to put Ginny's suitcase, tripping over a chicken in the yard, nearly breaking his neck.
Everyone piled into the car, Mr. Weasley started the engine, and they left the yard. Within half an hour, they had returned three times. By the time Ginny climbed into the vehicle, everyone was already annoyed.
When they finally reached King's Cross station, there were only five minutes left before departure.
"We don't have much time, hurry through the walls as fast as you can, and be careful not to be noticed by the muggles," nervously said Mrs. Weasley, looking at the clock, and ordered, "Percy first!"
As Percy passed through, Mr. Weasley grabbed his suitcases and followed suit, with Fred and George in tow.
"I'll take Ginny first, then you three," Mrs. Weasley said to Evan, Harry, and Ron, just before taking Ginny's hand and crossing over.
"Let's go at the same time counting to three," said Ron.
"Well, what should we do now?" thought Evan. He had planned to follow Percy, but who knew the car would be so slow, and Mrs. Weasley would place him with Harry and Ron.
If I'm not mistaken, the wall should be sealed now.
"Evan, stay with me and stay calm, as I told you before, the platform is passing through the wall." "If you're scared, you can run," Harry said.
Both Ron and Harry confidently ran towards the wall and collided with it.
Evan couldn't bear to see them like this, so he quickly closed his eyes. By the way they ran, he knew it would be painful.
The next second, he heard them crash into the wall.
Ron's suitcase hit the ground hard while Harry was knocked down, and Hedwig's cage fell to the floor, she screeched with anger. Many onlookers stared at them, while a guard shouted, "What the hell are you doing?"
"Sorry, we lost control of the cart," Harry said, groaning in pain.
Evan rushed and picked up Hedwig, many spectators shouted that they were abusing animals.
"Why can't we get through?" Harry whispered to Ron.
"I don't know!" Ron stepped forward and pushed the wall, "This has never happened before, we're going to miss the train!"
"I don't understand why the passage is sealed..."
Harry checked the time and carefully pushed the cart towards the wall, but it didn't budge an inch.
"Is someone trying to make us miss the train?"
"It must be Malfoy!" said Ron, "It's over, the train has already left, and if Mum and Dad can't come to pick us up, do any of you have muggle money?"
"The Dursleys never gave me any!" said Harry.
"I exchanged all of mine for magical world's money and spent it in Diagon Alley," Evan rummaged in his pocket and realized he should have saved some.
"I don't know how long it will take for mom and dad to come back and find us, what do we do now?" Ron nervously looked around, while Hedwig screeched, drawing the attention of many people.
"I think we should write a letter to the school to explain what happened," Evan suggested.
"Evan is right, but before doing that, we should go back to the car," said Harry as he tried to calm down Hedwig.
"Harry!" Ron's eyes sparkled, "We can take the car to Hogwarts, my father has modified it so it can fly!"
"Ron, it's not a good idea, we can't use magic outside of school," Evan shook his head hastily, trying to persuade the others to discard the idea.
"Come on, Evan!" Ron's eyes shone brightly, "We're stuck, aren't we? We have to get to the school, right? Even underage wizards can use magic if it's a real emergency, in section nineteen or something of the... of something."
"Can you drive?" after hearing Ron's explanation, Harry went from being panicked to feeling excited.
"No problem, I've seen Fred and George drive countless times!" said Ron, "We can reach the Hogwarts Express in no time. Evan, especially this year you need to arrive on time, you'll be sorted into a house, so we can't be late!"
"Yes, Evan," Harry agreed.
"It's terrifying to travel in a flying car to school." Looking at the two people with expressions of excitement, Evan followed along helplessly.
After they made a decision, Evan had no choice but to cooperate, and at that moment, Evan missed Hermione because if she were here, she could have stopped these two.
Evan also wanted to see the flying car, but after thinking about the consequences, he wasn't pleased.
They might be seen by Muggles, and Mr. Weasley could lose his job, and for a first-year student who hasn't even been assigned to a house yet, he wasn't sure what could happen to him.
"I think we should..." Evan tried to make one last effort.
"Come on, Evan!" Ron didn't wait for him to finish. "Harry, make sure no one is watching."
"There's no one on the street." Harry reached out and pulled Evan into the car.
The next second, Ron pressed a small silver button on the dashboard, and the three and the car disappeared.
Evan felt the seat vibrating, could hear the engine roar, and the next moment, they were floating above the street where the car had been parked.
"Let's go!" Ron shouted.
The ground and the buildings on either side shrank as the car ascended higher and higher, a few seconds later, they could see the entire city of London beneath them.
