Chapter 1: (not so) ordinary
CHAPTER 1
MORIOM HS:
CLASS 10-4:
The teacher is doing attendance at the end of
the day. Everyone left class after attendance.
Kai walks towards the gate but a crowd on the
other side of the entrance caught his attention.
'Eat it! Eat it! Eat it!' they all shouted and
exclaimed in excitement. He arrives at the crowd and makes his way to the
source. It's Draco. The school bully. Mostly his bully. Draco is holding a kid,
2 years younger than them, upside down by the legs.
"Come on, Zach. Eat your veggies!" he yells with
a wide grin on his face while pressing the boy's face into a bowl of mushed
vegetables.
He looks up as Kai caught his attention. "Hey, back
chi! Draw this real quick." He yells while grinning.
"No, put him down, Draco." Kai responds to the
request given to him.
"Oh, come on, man. You got your sketchbook in
your hand. I bet you can draw this in less than a minute." Draco replies
struggling to point at the sketchbook in Kai's right hand.
"I'm not drawing you Draco. Put him down- don't
eat that, man, it looks gross." Kai explained while looking at the boy who's
still being held upside down.
"Take out your pencil and draw." Draco's voice
now stern and a bit annoyed.
Kai sighs shrugging his shoulders and stammers a
bit.
"I'm not- Draco, put the kid down. Put him-
Drac- Draco..."
Sigh
"Put him down! Vincent!" Kai finally yells out.
Draco's smile faded within seconds after hearing Kai call him out by his given
name. He throws the kid to the side almost breaking his neck. Kai walks up to
Zach trying to help him up but is stopped by Draco.
They both lock eyes for a second before Kai gets
sucker punched in the face. He falls to the ground and gets kicked in the gut
as Draco stands over him.
"Stay down, Kerrel! Stay down!" Draco yells as
he dominates over Kai.
Kai rolls to his side to face Draco and responds
in a wheezing voice. "I'm still not drawing you." He mumbles, his voice barely
above a whisper.
Before Draco could land another kick, a girl
intervened and confronted Draco.
"You're disgracing the family name. What would
father think?" she whispers to him in a stern voice. Draco doesn't respond, he
just ignores her and walks past. She follows behind.
Later that day:
So much for helping those in need. All that got
me was a black eye and a sore stomach- Kai thought to himself as he walks
through the park. He doesn't usually take this route home, but he wanted to get
home quicker. He has his headphones on as usual, on full blast. He looks up as
he can hear some noise through his headphones. He looks up and sees nothing but
a child playing in the street with her ball.
The hell is that kid doing playing in the
street? Her parents don't seem to be present. – he thought as he looks around.
He looks to his left and a car catches his attention. It's moving. Yes, of
course, it's a car so it would be moving. But this car is moving fast, too
fast, and it's heading straight for the girl. His eyes widen as the realization
of the situation sets in. He runs towards the girl as fast as he can while
screaming for her to get out of the way, but she does not respond, nor does she
even look up. The car is approaching faster and faster. Kai barely reaches the
girl and pushes her to the sidewalk. He didn't have any time left to react to
the car and gets hit. He gets sent flying more than 10 feet away from where the
girl was. He went unconscious and wakes up in a hospital.
It was quiet. He hadn't expected a hospital to
be this eerily quiet. The bed he's lying in is cold, the room he's in is cold.
It feels like a refrigerator. He looks around and notices that everything looks
different, lighter. He scans the room he's in and notices someone staring back
at him. It was him, well, his reflection to be precise. His eyes widen at the
sight of his new appearance. He jumps out of the bed and walks towards the
mirror on the wall. The cold tiles making contact with his bare feet. He grabs
his face trying to make sure that it's him staring at himself.
"What the- what the hell happened? My eyes…
They're- they're blue."
He yells as if being stabbed with a thousand
knives. The doctor and a few nurses came barging in the room and grab Kai while
trying to calm him down. They lay him down and calmly explain what happened and
why his eyes are now blue. Kai denies everything that was just explained to
him.
"No, that can't be true. I don't remember that
happening." He responds nervously.
"Sir, you were unconscious when that happened."
"And how do you even know that happened?"
"Well, the little girl you saved told us. It was
her parents that brought you here." A nurse responds to him.
A knock is heard on the door, and everyone turns
their head. It's the girl and her mother. "May we come in, please?" the mother
asks nicely. The doctor lets them in and leaves the room, the nurses following
behind. They sit down nervously.
"Is she alright, ma'am?" Kai asks, breaking the
silence like glass.
"Ah, yes, yes. Thank you for saving my
daughter's life. I don't know how I can repay you!" she exclaims while bending
down on her knees. They're both Asian, probably Japanese, so that's why she's
on her knees.
"No, no. There's no need, truly. I'm just glad I
could help her out of the way." He responds humbly.
"My daughter wanted you to know what happened
after you went unconscious."
Kai shook his head in agreement.
"Mister," she starts.
"There was this man. He was in a black suit.
Like the one my daddy wears to work. The man looked scary. He got out of the
car and ran up to where you were laying. His dreadlocks were as white as snow,
and he wore an eyepatch on his right eye. He injected multiple things into you
with needles." She continues while holding her mother's arm tightly.
"After he was finished, he turned his head to
look at me. His eyes were blue, it felt like he saw through me and into my
soul. His eyes are like yours and he has a scar by the left side of his mouth."
She got done talking and they left.
After that day, Kai's life changed drastically.
END.
