Harry Potter and the son of Morgana LeFay

Chapter 9: Ch:9 The first classes

Orion went down to the dungeons and went into his room. There was nothing he really wanted to do so he just revised a few potion grimoires until he fell asleep.

On the next day he woke up early, did his daily physical training and hurried to class after because he lost track of time.

He barely made it in time to transfiguration class and cast a careful glance to the cat on the podium in front.

He just sat down somewhere around the middle and looked around.

The students were chatting merrily unaware that they were being watched very carefully.

Orion just took out one of his books and began to read.

Soon after Harry and Ron burst into the room.

"Oh good, not to late yet. Imagine what Professor McGonagall would have said if we were late" Ron said.

The cat on the table then jumped gracefully and transformed into a stern-looking professor McGonagall.

"Woah, that was awesome" Ron said with admiration but also a bit fearful of their possible punishment of being to late on the first day.

"Thank you for this assesment Mr. Weasley. Mabye I should transform one of you into a pocket watch? That way mabye one of you will be here on time".

"Sorry, we were lost..." Ron just mumbled.

"Then mabye into a map? If you need one to find your seats" she said and gestured them to sit down.

Ron and Harry quickly sat down, relived to have escaped punishment.

What followed next was a very boring hour for Orion.

McGonagall droned something about the dangers of transfiguration and repeatedly explained the basics which Orion had already learned when he was four years old.

So yeah, althroug McGonagall certainly knew her stuff and was an acceptable teacher, he did his best not to doze off while she explained how to transform a matchstick into a needle.

After an eternity McGonagall finally took out the matchsticks and distributed them to all students.

All students then began to try their best to transform the tiny piece of wood into a needle.

Of course, Mordred was the first to complete the task on his first try.

Seeing that Orion took so long to complete the task he shot him a co fused glance.

Orion just signaled him to stay silent.

He then imitated the wand movement with his wand without using any magic until a few others finally managed to transform their matchstick.

The second was Hermoine then Malfoy and Daphne Greengrass. He continued with his act until everyone besides him, Crabbe, Goyle and Ron were unsucsessful in their attempt to transform the matchstick.

Upon deciding that he couldn't sink any further he effortlessly transformed the needle with a swift movement of his wand.

Soon after the class was over and they went to their next class, potions.

As they made their way over to the dungeons Mordred catched up to him.

"What was that performance in transfiguration about? You were always better than me in...well everything besides swordsmanship" Mordred said.

"Well I am in a dificult position in Slytherin. There is a lot of discrimination against muggleborns especially if you are in that house" Orion just said quietly "the only reason no one troubled me yet is because I have a concealment charm on me whenever I am in the Slytherin dorms".

"What does it matter? Just beat them up if they are so eager" Mordred asked confused.

"Yeah, I am sure the teachers will love me. Seriously, that way this conflict would just escalate and I will be expelled sooner or later" Orion said.

"Oh, I get what you mean...it's because they have the protection of their influental and wealthy parents and we are orphans right?".

"You got it" Orion just sighed.

"And if you just obliviate them after?" Mordred asked.

"Well it would become suspicious and if the ministry launches an investigation I get a V.I.P. ticket for a few years in Azkaban" Orion said.

"Well guess you're fucked then" Mordred said "but seriously, If they get to dangerous and seriously injure you...just cleanly get rid of them".

"How were you not sorted into Slytherin?" Orion just asked a bit taken aback by the words of his brother.

"I don't know, but if anyone hurts my little brother...they are dead" Mordred just said darkly.

"You don't need to act all high and mighty, you are only five minutes older than me" Orion said and added"but nice to know".

They arrived at the gloomy potions classroom and sat down besides each other.

Soon professor Snape stormed into the room.

"There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class. As such I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few...who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to betwitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper to death" Snape said and immediately noticed Harry not paying attention.

"The again, mabye some of you have come to Hogwarts in possesion of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to not pay attention" Snape said his tone becomming lower.

Hermoine who sat next to Harry nudges him and he finally stopped writing whatever bullshit he was considering important enough to write down.

"Mr. Potter, our new...celebrety" Snape said sarcastically "Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?"

"You don't know? Let's try again. Where Mr. Potter would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?"

"I don't know Sir" Harry said.

"And what is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?"

"I don't know Sir" Harry repeated.

"A pity. Clearly fame isn't everything is it Mr. Potter?" Snape said gleefully.

"For your information, a fusion of asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful that it's known as the Draught of Living Death. A Bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons. As for monkshood and wolfsbane, they are the same plant wich goes by the name of aconite" Snape said and turned to the rest of the class "Well? Why aren't you writing that down?"

Everyone besides Orion hurriedly scribbled something on their parchment.

Snape noticing his behaviour just sneered and said "It seems we have another one who thinks he is so knowlegeable that he doesn't need to write this down. Mr. Green if I am right?"

Orion just nodded.

"Well then here is another quiz. What is the primary use of dragon blood 7n potion making?" Snape asked.

Orion noticed that this was a third-year question and even Hermoine looked completly clueless.

"Dragon blood has multiple uses, including as a powerful magical substance with properties sich as an effective healing agent or it helps in creation of explosive combat potions. It is also the main ingridient in many body strengthenig potions or used to purify the body of the negative effects of dark magic and accelerates treating those wounds" Orion said confidently. He was sure that he said everything the grimoires mentioned but a part of it's uses have been lost trough time.

"Wrong, Dragon blood can only be used in combat potions and body strengthening potions. The rest you said was the most ridiculus answers I have ever heard" Snape said angry to have wasted his time on yet another moron.

"I can prove it. Here and now" Orion said.

Snape turned to him again "alright, If you manage to brew a potion with even one of the additional effects you said I will personally take you in as my disciple. If you fail however, you need to pay for every ingredient you have wasted" Snape said.

"Alright, I accept" Orion said and made his way over to the ingredient storage under the interested eyes of the whole class.

He then came back with a few ingridients including dragon blood, a feather of a phoenix, the eye of a troll and the ash of a vampire.

Snape paled when he saw his precious ingredientsin the hands of an eleven year old brat "Can you even pay for this" he asked.

Orion just rolled his eyes and threw him a pouch full of galleons he took out of his heir ring unnoticed.

"1200 galleons. 600 for the dragon blood, 300 for the vampire ash, 270 for the phoenix feather and 30 for the troll eye" Orion calculated "the normal market value.

Everyone including even the malfoy scion had wide eyes hearing the immense sum these ingredients costed.

Snape inspected the pouch and nodded unsure if he should stop this arrogant student from his house or not.

Orion then went back to his place and lit the fire under his cauldron.

He then pointed his wand at the cauldron and chanted "aguamenti".

An even stream of water slowly filled the cauldron.

He then began preparing the ingredients under the watchful eye of professor Snape and the rest of the class as the water was heating up.
