Harry Potter: Becoming a Study God

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Eagle Who Values His Life

"They used to be friends?" Michael asked.

"Best friends," Theo replied and then paused before adding, "…or so they say."

"Where is he now?" Ryan asked.

"In Azkaban, of course."

Wade looked up at the empty spot on the wall where the photo had been but said nothing.

After lunch, everyone went to explore Hogsmeade.

Theo had been there a few times with his parents, but for Michael and Ryan, it was their first time in this famous village. They dashed eagerly into the shops, excitedly wanting to buy everything they saw.

Wade and Lupin trailed behind. Watching the children's joy, the middle-aged wizard looked content, though a hint of melancholy showed in his expression.

"Next break, I'll bring Harry along," Wade said understandingly.

"That would be wonderful."

Lupin smiled like a silly father. "When I was on my own, it never really mattered, but now… with one person missing, the whole house just feels empty."

"Please keep today's events from Harry," Wade requested. "He's living happily and carefree right now, and there's no need for him to be entangled in anything related to Tom."

Lupin readily agreed.

He recalled a question that had been bothering him and asked, "Wade, do you remember that shadowy figure in the cave?"

"Of course," Wade replied.

"Simply infusing thoughts wouldn't create something with such a tangible form, that thing looked as if it had its own soul."

Lupin said with concern, "Given Tom's level of magic, he surely mastered Dark Magic we can't understand. The danger that diadem posed was beyond what I anticipated."

"It's fortunate you were cautious and never came into direct contact with it."

"Of course. It's destroyed now… but if you encounter anything like it in the future, be extremely careful."

Lupin wasn't suspicious that Wade was hiding anything; he just assumed Wade might have underestimated the true threat of Voldemort's magic object based on his current knowledge.

Wade replied earnestly, "Of course, I will."

"For safety, I need to be sure," Lupin continued. "You haven't come across any other 'Tom's weapons,' have you? You haven't, right?"

Wade looked away and said, "Something like that… even Tom can't have too many of those, right?"

Lupin looked at him, sighed, and said, "I'll teach you the Fiendfyre Curse."

"Great!" Wade smiled and answered frankly, "I've been waiting for this."

"Promise me, you won't use it until you can fully control it!"

"Of course, I promise."

"And consult with me if anything happens—don't go acting on your own."

"I understand."

Although Wade agreed, Lupin still looked a bit worried.

When everyone used the Vanishing Cabinet to return to school, Wade went in last.

"Thank you, Remus," he said with a smile just before closing the cabinet door. "But don't think of me as a reckless lion—I'm an eagle who values his life dearly."

Lupin paused, and was taken aback.

The black cabinet door closed, and the person inside had already arrived back at Hogwarts.

Lupin gave a wry smile and murmured to himself, "Not all lions are reckless."

He picked up the photograph that had been face down and brushed his fingers over it. The paper covering it drifted away.

In the photo, the black-haired boy wore a carefree, mischievous smile and looked full of spirit and energy.

Yet Lupin felt a sharp pang in his heart.

"…Wasn't there also a hidden snake no one noticed?"

Back at school, the group now shared a secret that brought them even closer. They went to the Umbrella Room and found only Padma there, who told them that Harry was in the infirmary.

"What happened?" Ryan asked.

"Did they get into another fight with Malfoy?" Theo guessed sensibly.

"It wasn't that. Harry fell off his broom during Quidditch practice," Padma said.

Wade frowned slightly. "Did his broom go out of control? Or did a Bludger hit him?"

—Could Dobby have come to school this early to cause trouble?

"No," Padma replied, "he wasn't injured from the fall; he just fainted."

In the infirmary, Harry lay on the bed, having just regained consciousness. Surrounding him were a few Gryffindor students and team members.

Nearby, a young boy (Colin Creevey) was holding a camera, ready to capture Harry's moment of waking.

"I'm fine." Harry gently pushed the camera away from his face and sighed, "Thank you, Colin. But I'm really not in the mood for a photo."

"Was it scary to fall like that?" Colin asked loudly and looked oddly excited.

"Suddenly falling was pretty frightening," the team captain, Wood, said as he patted Harry on the shoulder. "Get some good rest today, and we'll continue practice tomorrow morning."

"Are you a devil?" Ron asked in shock and blurted out his question instinctively.

Fred clamped a hand on his shoulder and said grimly, "What did you expect, Ron? The team's not for the faint of heart."

George added solemnly, "Wood isn't a devil… he's way worse than that."

Wood gave each of the twins a knock on the head, then launched into a speech about how crucial their new tactics were, how awful the team's coordination had been, and how the match was right around the corner (even though it was two months away).

The Weasley twins wore matching expressions of agony.

Angelina, another team member, grinned at them and barely suppressed her laughter.

Taking advantage of Wood's distraction, Fred made a face at her.

Harry tried to explain, "It wasn't the fall that made me faint; my head just started hurting suddenly…"

Wood's voice continued to fill the room, so no one seemed to hear what he was saying.

However, Ryan, who had just entered the room, did catch it.

"Headache?" he asked as he walked over with a puzzled expression. "Roughly what time was it?"

Finally, someone was listening to him. Harry sighed with relief and quickly said, "Around ten-thirty… or closer to eleven, maybe."

"Ten forty-five." Wood, who somehow caught wind of the conversation, commented regretfully, "We had only been practicing for an hour and twenty-five minutes."

Ryan and Theo exchanged a glance.

Ten forty-five…

If I remember correctly, that was when the shadow within the diadem was being destroyed.

Could Harry Potter really sense it from so far away?

Michael began to feel something was off. He looked at Wade beside him, only to find that Wade seemed to be paying little attention to the exact timing. Instead, he was watching Ron Weasley.

"That's because you spent an hour talking about strategy…" Fred said to Wood.

Wood's eyebrows knitted, and he was about to respond.

Suddenly, George clamped a hand over Fred's mouth and laughed, "Oh, I just remembered, we have detention today. If we don't go soon, Hagrid will be furious…"

"You two got detention again?" Wood asked.

"Yep, all we did was take a stroll in the Forbidden Forest, and our dear groundskeeper caught us…" Fred shrugged and pulled George's hand away.

"He thought we deserved a proper lesson…"

"…Cleaning out the pigsty, no magic allowed…"

"…Since Harry's awake, we'll take our leave."

With these words, the twins began to back away and disappeared from Wood's line of sight in an instant.

Clearly, to them, Wood's lectures were far worse than cleaning a pigsty.

Angelina stifled a laugh.
