Chapter 117: Chapter -116 Swamp plant of Weasley family.
Chapter 116 Complaint about Them
Looking at Ron, who had a bewildered expression and was about to 'trap his dad', Dudley continued to speak.
"What does your dad do for work?"
"He works at the Ministry of Magic, in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office."
Ron answered blankly.
"How did that flying car come about?"
"My dad bought it from Muggles."
Ron continued to respond.
"Do ordinary cars fly?"
"Of course not."
After Ron finished speaking, he looked at Dudley in confusion, as if to say, isn't that common knowledge?
"So what do you think the Ministry of Magic will do if a Muggle sees you driving and finds out that it was made by Mr. Weasley?"
Ron reflexively said, "My dad would get fired."
After saying that, his face turned the color of pig liver, finally realizing the implication.
"Exactly." Dudley patted him on the shoulder, not so foolish this time: "If discovered, he might even lose his job."
Not being able to board the Hogwarts Express felt like a minor issue to Dudley.
"There are so many people here, what's there to worry about?"
It wasn't just the two of them who missed the train; little wizards were everywhere, and many were first years.
"So are we just going to wait here?"
Dudley shook his head: "No, we can report it ahead."
"Report it ahead?"
Ron was puzzled, and Dudley didn't explain further.
"Listen to me, guys." Dudley raised his voice.
When he saw the parents accompanying the little wizards turning their gazes toward him, he continued: "This is a serious incident."
"As you can see, the passage to the platform has been blocked for some reason, and there are about ten minutes until the train departs. I think it's highly likely we will miss it."
Dudley knocked on the tightly closed pillar, making a clanging sound; it was still blocked.
There are only a few trains from King's Cross Station to Hogwarts each year, this is a dedicated line.
There are other ways to get there, such as going to Hogsmeade first and then getting to Hogwarts.
But that would waste a lot of unnecessary time; being late is a small issue, but for first-year little wizards, it could become a lifelong regret.
The Hogwarts enrollment ceremony only happens once in a lifetime for them.
"I believe someone should be held accountable for this, and someone should handle this matter; it's not our fault."
"I suggest everyone contact the Ministry of Magic first. The Hogwarts Express has always been operated by them; they should come forward and give an explanation."
The wizards present suddenly realized what he meant and began to contact the Ministry of Magic in their own ways, of course, with unfriendly attitudes.
At this moment, Ron learned to be clever and didn't bring up that his father worked at the Ministry of Magic.
Otherwise, this matter would be handled by his father, which would definitely not be a good thing.
"Mr. Dursley." Dudley heard someone calling him.
The only one who could address Dudley in such a respectful tone was likely to be a Slytherin.
Indeed, it was a Slytherin, a pretty girl. If Dudley remembered correctly, she was a close associate of Pansy and part of a small group. The snack he used to like to munch on came from her hands.
Crispy, hard, chewy, quite tasty.
What was she called again?
Dudley recalled slightly.
Right, it was Daphne, Daphne Greengrass.
"Hello, Miss Greengrass," Dudley responded very politely.
"You remember me!"
Just a simple polite response seemed to touch a nerve, as Daphne suddenly let out an excited scream, startling Ron who was standing next to Dudley, almost causing him to drop the stuffed animal he was holding.
"Of course, we're classmates, and we're in the same house."
Dudley simply reassured her; the scream made his ears a bit uncomfortable.
There was something inexplicable in her gaze, like a fan seeing a celebrity.
"Ahem."
Hermione, standing next to Dudley, cleared her throat, trying to attract attention. She didn't like the way this girl looked at Dudley and how close she was getting.
"Hermione Granger! The real Miss knows it all!"
Daphne yelled again, even more excited than before, which startled Hermione, and of course, Ron jumped again.
If what just happened was like a fan meeting a celebrity, now it was like a rabid fan meeting a celebrity.
She grabbed Hermione's hand and began to ask a barrage of questions.
That admiring look was completely genuine.
"Hello!"
If the visitor was unfriendly, it would be one thing, but the way she acted left Hermione somewhat uncertain.
She didn't know she was this popular in Slytherin?
"This isn't right. Isn't Slytherin all about blood purity? I'm a hundred percent pure-blood Muggle wizard! After a somewhat awkward conversation, Daphne seemed to remember something and pulled over the timid little girl to the front of several people, introducing her: 'Mr. Dursley, Miss Granger, this is my sister, Astoria Greengrass. She's a first-year this year, and she'll surely be in Slytherin.' Speaking of Slytherin, Daphne was quite proud.
Astoria had long golden hair and watery blue eyes, resembling Daphne quite a bit, and she was a very cute little sister.
However, when Dudley was talking to her, she kept hiding behind her sister, too shy.
Dudley smiled at her, and Astoria immediately pouted, her eyes quickly misting over. It dawned on Dudley that this wasn't shyness; she was clearly afraid of him.
"Oh! Potter, it's Mr. Potter! What a privilege it is to be here with you."
No need to ask; it was Daphne's voice again.
It was clear she had spotted Potter, and fortunately, this time Ron finally didn't shake; otherwise, Parkinson would have been scared out of her wits. Ron looked at his companions, thinking he needed to assert his presence too, so he went, "Ahem."
He indeed caught Daphne's attention, but the reaction was quite different from what he had expected. "Oh, the swamp plant from the Weasley family, when did you get here?"
Daphne's chin was slightly raised, her tone imbued with three parts disdain and seven parts arrogance, as if she had encountered something filthy, her eyes clearly showing disgust and contempt.
Her attitude did a complete 180.
Ron: ???
Finally, the personnel from the Ministry of Magic arrived late.
It was a young-looking wizard, now surrounded by a group of wizarding parents, sweating profusely while trying to explain. "Ladies and gentlemen, please listen to me, this is just a minor accident."
