Harry Potter: Journey to Godhood

Chapter 398: Chapter 398: Setting Off

Even though the battle between the spiritual entities took place in the Emerald Dream, Alaric still felt a wave of fatigue after it ended.

There was no helping it; after all, his opponents were three Dragon Queens.

However, this exertion was not in vain, as it allowed Talonixa and Alexstrasza to fulfill their long-held wishes.

Before parting, Alaric carefully reminded the three dragonesses.

"Be cautious of the Dragon Soul when you return. Deathwing might exploit it, using the orcs of other worlds to seize control of the Dragon Soul and then manipulate you—especially you, Alexstrasza.

Ever since Deathwing fell, his body has struggled to contain the immense energy within him.

Even his mate, Sintharia, cannot mate with him anymore. Now, if he wishes to revive the Black Dragonflight, he can only rely on you."

Hearing Alaric's words, Alexstrasza couldn't help but blush, but she nodded to indicate her understanding.

In fact, as the keeper of life energy, Alexstrasza truly was an excellent mother. In the original history, Deathwing's schemes allowed the orcs to acquire the Dragon Soul.

The orcs seized the opportunity to control Alexstrasza using the Dragon Soul, forcing the Red Dragonflight to serve them and causing great losses to the Alliance of humans, high elves, and dwarves.

Even Dalaran was destroyed in the flames of the Red Dragon.

Moreover, Alexstrasza was reduced to an egg-laying machine in the hands of the orcs until several mortal teams rescued her.

Because of this experience, combined with the appearance and personality of Alexstrasza's mortal form, many World of Warcraft players have fantasized about her ordeal at the hands of the orcs, even giving her the nickname "RBQ."

Now that Alaric was present, how could he allow Alexstrasza to suffer such a fate?

Next, he turned to Talonixa.

"Talonixa, you are the only one among your sisters who is not controlled by the Dragon Soul," he said, looking seriously into her eyes.

"I hope during this time, you can stay close to your sisters, protect them, and prevent any misfortunes from befalling you… I don't want any of you to encounter accidents."

"Don't worry, I will," Talonixa replied earnestly.

"Lastly, one more thing." Alaric scanned them one by one and then said, "If you meet me in the outside world in the future, pretend it's the first time you've seen me.

Do not call me 'Father'; just refer to me by my name here: 'Maverick Sandor.' I don't want those guys to know about our relationship."

"You mean… the Old Gods?" the clever guardian dragon immediately understood.

"Yes. At least until we handle those guys, we can't reveal ourselves… If you need anything, we can meet in the Emerald Dream."

With everything settled, the four finally parted ways.

The guardian dragons had their own duties, so their next meeting might take a while.

However, no one felt dissatisfied with this arrangement. After all, as Alaric said, this era was one of great turmoil, and countless chaos was about to unfold, leaving them no time to enjoy peace.

Yet, for both the dragons and Alaric, time was not a luxury. Their lifespans were long enough to ensure they had plenty of time to enjoy each other's company.

Anyway, there would be plenty of days to come.

After the three guardian dragons departed, Alaric's life in the Violet Castle returned to its previous routine: waking up early to study in the library and returning to his room at midnight to sleep.

This routine had continued for over half a year, and he had finally learned all the magic available in the library.

The remaining, more profound, or niche magics were mostly unique skills of certain individuals or secret techniques that required specific costs to learn.

However, for Alaric, these spells and knowledge were temporarily sufficient.

As for transmutation magic, under Alaric's selfless teaching and widespread dissemination, it had become widely recognized among mages in the human kingdoms.

Even the high elves of Quel'Thalas had shown curiosity about it.

Kael'thas had privately mentioned that the Silvermoon Council of Quel'Thalas had begun discussing whether to invite Alaric, the founder of transmutation magic, to their capital, Silvermoon City, to impart the secrets of transmutation magic…

By the way, the Silvermoon Council was the ruling body of the high elf kingdom Quel'Thalas, composed of the greatest seven noble lords, while the royal family of the Sunstrider also held a certain degree of power, making it a sort of alternate version of a constitutional monarchy.

Furthermore, all seven noble lords were mages—mages held a special status in Quel'Thalas. However, due to their prolonged exposure to the high concentration of magic in the Sunwell, almost every high elf could perform a bit of magic.

Now, Alaric planned to pause his studies and officially involve himself in the turbulent events of this world.

As a grand mage, Alaric had the qualifications to establish his own magical tower in Dalaran, but this required sufficient financial resources.

Of course, if Alaric was willing to take advantage of the three guardian dragons' collections, he could build as many magical towers as he wanted.

However, to avoid exposing their connection, he had to forgo this convenient option.

Thus, before establishing a magical tower, he needed to find ways to secure sufficient funding.

Indeed, being a mage was a profession that consumed a lot of money.

So, for Alaric, traveling the continent and establishing power was an urgent matter.

Coincidentally, recently, news came from the human kingdom of Stormwind, located in the southern part of the Eastern Kingdoms.

This was the core kingdom of future humans in the original plot—that the Stormwind army had defeated a green-skinned humanoid army in the Redridge Mountains.

These humanoids resembled trolls but were even stronger and had long tusks. After their defeat, they retreated into the Swamp of Sorrows and shrouded it in dense fog.

The Stormwind Kingdom believed that these strong and savage aliens would return, hoping the kingdoms of the Lordaeron continent could offer them support to fend off the aliens.

However, due to Stormwind Kingdom's great distance from the other kingdoms of Lordaeron and its long-standing policy of isolationism, no one came to their aid.

Leaders from various countries treated this news as a joke, and the most likely kingdom to assist, Lordaeron, hesitated due to the roadside news from a Stormwind noble. "King Llane's so-called war is just an internal conflict."

Stormwind Kingdom became a solitary boat on the sea, facing the stormy waves alone.

However, in Dalaran, Alaric proactively offered to serve as an envoy for Dalaran to conduct an on-site investigation of Stormwind Kingdom to assess the true situation.

Most of Dalaran's mages felt that Alaric's request was entirely unnecessary—Dalaran had no need to be concerned about the internal affairs of other human nations.

However, they understood that, given Alaric's age, it was reasonable for him to seek an opportunity to see faraway Dalaran.

Moreover, with Alaric's status as a grand mage, the Kirin Tor Council ultimately agreed to his request while also secretly assigning him the task of contacting Khadgar to investigate Medivh's tower, Karazhan—after all, Karazhan was located near Stormwind City.

The second task was a convenient opportunity for Alaric, as it provided him a reason to involve himself in the events concerning Medivh.

And so, Alaric set off on his journey.
