Harry Potter: Journey to Godhood

Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Northshire Abbey

In the game, Northshire Abbey seems to be very close to Stormwind, just a turn out of the city and you're there.

However, in the real Azeroth, Northshire Abbey is quite a distance from Stormwind.

Alaric set out in the morning, accompanied by a cavalry unit, and only reached his destination in the afternoon.

Northshire Abbey is nestled in a tranquil valley in the northern part of Elwynn Forest and is the most important church in the Kingdom of Stormwind.

In terms of scale and influence, it is second only to the Cathedral of the Holy Light in Lordaeron among the human kingdoms.

This church has a Gothic-like architecture, with red roofs and white walls, and a structure resembling a variant of a cross.

Surrounding the church is a graveyard, and a training ground has also been temporarily established. Alaric can see soldiers and priests moving about nearby.

At Northshire Abbey, there exists a renowned priestly organization known as the Northshire Holy Brotherhood.

This is essentially the highest organization of the Church of the Holy Light in the Kingdom of Stormwind.

Although it is called a "brotherhood," the organization is not limited to male priests; it also includes nuns and female priests.

In the card game based on the Warcraft universe, "Hearthstone," the famous Northshire Cleric card is well-known for its powerful card draw ability.

Priests wielding the power of the Holy Light have the ability to bless others and heal wounds. Thus, these healing priests have become the hope of human soldiers.

During the previous wars against the Worgen and Trolls, even the Worgen and Trolls sought help from human priests to heal their injuries.

In the last war against the Orcs, the priests of Northshire Abbey still went to the battlefield, healing the wounded both physically and spiritually, providing immense help to human soldiers.

However, their actions also incurred the wrath of the Orcs.

Once devoted to shamans, the Orcs, now corrupted by Fel energy, scorned the priests' faith in the Holy Light and ruthlessly slaughtered every priest they could find, decisively eliminating the source that helped injured human soldiers return to the battlefield.

However, despite the heavy casualties, the priests remained steadfast in their commitment to the fight, composing a hymn of courage and compassion.

Ultimately, Northshire Abbey, like the ordinary soldiers, suffered severe losses. When Alaric arrived outside the abbey, he could still see priests praying before a grave.

Such scenes made him reflect on the brutality of war.

However, Alaric had become accustomed to such cruelty.

Putting aside the battles in the world of sorcery, in the world of "Game of Thrones," he and Daenerys were one of the factions instigating war and hoping to profit from it.

From the Dothraki Sea to the trading city-states, and then to the continent of Westeros, he had experienced countless bloody battles and was accustomed to the cycle of life and death.

Compared to the war that nearly engulfed half the world, the initial skirmishes between the Orc tribes and the Kingdom of Stormwind were merely child's play.

However, in the current war, although Northshire Abbey was a relatively important stronghold, there weren't many guards near the abbey.

Perhaps to avoid disturbing the priests' meditations, the soldiers were stationed some distance away, with only a few special facilities placed near the abbey.

Of course, that suspected half-orc female was also being held here.

The soldiers did not extend a warm welcome to Alaric and his party; in the eyes of these stationed soldiers, Alaric was likely just another young noble seeking to gain merit. The priests, however, provided them with some hospitality.

Yet, the leader of these stationed soldiers, a baron named Anies Glamon, understood that this visiting party was extraordinary.

He noticed that the knights serving as escorts clearly came from the Royal Knights' Order, and although the escorted individual appeared quite young, he was not just some young noble scion.

His attire was exquisite but lacked any aristocratic ostentation, and his demeanor surpassed that of ordinary people.

From the unique arrogance and slightly aloof demeanor of this young man, along with the distinctive patterns on his cloak, Anies surmised that he must be a mage.

In the grand scheme of Northshire Abbey, Alaric had little regard for the stationed soldiers, even for Baron Glamon; only the priests who wielded the Holy Light captured his attention.

Of course, he noticed them merely because of the "Holy Light."

Just a moment ago, he had indeed seen a priest healing an injured soldier, calling upon the Holy Light to mend the soldier's wound.

Although the effect wasn't as instantaneous as in the game, he could clearly see that the soldier's bleeding quickly stopped.

This was also the first time he had witnessed a divine magic caster after traveling through several worlds.

By the way, divine magic refers to borrowing power through faith and prayer, while the contrasting spellcasting refers to controlling power through one's own intellect.

For many humans, the Holy Light is their faith, but in Alaric's heart, the Holy Light was merely a form of energy.

However, unlike the energy in scientific systems, the Holy Light possesses a clear emotional direction and has both subjective and objective characteristics.

Nonetheless, since the original story depicted blood elves extracting the Holy Light from the Naaru, Alaric could be certain that the Holy Light is indeed a type of energy.

As a mage, how could he not study the Holy Light thoroughly? How could he live up to the title of "research fanatic" that mages often carry?

However, of course, that was not for now.

So, he stifled his curiosity and followed Baron Glamon to the abbey's basement.

The underground portion of the abbey was typically used as a mausoleum or temporary burial site, but today it had also been repurposed as a dungeon.

After a winding path, they finally arrived at the target room.

Alaric suppressed his desire to complain about their penchant for imprisoning people underground and peered into the room.

Inside, he saw a large iron cage, within which was a female orc, or rather, a half-orc.

Like the orcs Alaric had encountered, this female half-orc had green skin, a prominent jaw, and tusks—though these features were far less pronounced than those of typical orcs.

However, her build was clearly not as bulky as her kin; in fact, she was even slightly smaller than the average adult.

Her face did not resemble that of an orc, and even from Alaric's critical aesthetic perspective, she could be considered quite beautiful.

Her figure was slender, and even her firm muscles and slightly protruding tusks showcased a wild beauty.

Alaric felt increasingly certain that she was Garona.

However, if she truly was Garona, then it wouldn't be surprising that her appearance led others to mistake her for a half-breed of human and orc.
