Harry Potter: Return From Future

Chapter 35: Arthur's Explanation

Harry's question was followed by another spell of silence as he tried to form a response in his mind.

Even Hermione perked her ears as she waited for Arthur's response. Even she had noticed and intrigued by these two words when Percy had uttered them but she did not ask. Now that Harry had asked in directly, she was eager to listen the answer.

Arthur had a contemplating and frustrating expression on his face. He knew very well that, his son had made a blunder and now he had to bite the bullet. Even so, he felt quite relieved that Harry had asked him directly and did not try to find the answers on his own.

He could not divulge information as he wished where as he would have had no control if Harry had taken up the latter option.

"Harry," sighed Arthur with a deep breath. "You are too young to know about all this… even so, now that you have asked, I might tell you few things."

Harry nodded. Even if Arthur had denied the answer, he had no intention of dragging the matter. He had asked the question casually to test the waters of Arthur Weasley's intentions.

"Wizengamot is a special kind of Wizarding Council," said Arthur. "Many members of our wizarding world gather in the Wizengamot and they decide the laws and well how overall the wizarding Britain is to be governed."

"Lord of a house is the head of a magical family," he continued. "In every magical they have a lord… you know who controls the wealth and the businesses of the family."

"For example, you may call me the Lord of the Weasley family," finished Arthur.

Harry wanted to roll his eyes at the explanation. Even a toddler from a magical family would provide a better explanation than what Arthur Weasley provided.

Hermione, meanwhile could not help herself to keep her curiosity in control.

"Mr. Weasley," she said in excitement. "How are the members of the Wizengamot selected. What are their specific functions? And what kind of powers do they wield?"

She continued with the same excitement, "You might know… or not know but in the muggle world we have something called 'Parliament' and this Wizengamot sounds similar to out Parliament."

Harry looked with amusement as awkwardness flickered in Arthur's eyes. This was the most he had been willing to say.

"Hermione, Harry," Arthur said with a serious tone, his eyes focused on Hermione. Even he knew that she had a higher… no confirm chances that she would search for all the answers herself if her curiosity is not satisfied.

"I am not opposed to both of you learning new things," he said. "But I would advise, both of you, to not run after these things."

"When the time will come, you will naturally learn all of this," he said in sombre voice.

His eyes turned towards Harry, "It is not the right time."

"When the time will come, Dumbledore will himself guide you through all this," he emphasised.

Harry gave a nod but his mind started to wander through the many possibilities. The way Arthur talked… was like Dumbledore had prohibited him to talk about all these things to Harry.

Was Arthur part of the larger scheme which had been plotted around Harry or had he been used as mere puppet by the puppet master? Was Arthur among those who were moving the chess pieces or was he himself a pawn on the larger chessboard?

After this discussion, very few words were exchanged among the group. In another very few minutes, the son was already visible in the horizon marking the beginning of the day.

"Mr. Weasley," Harry said. "I think, it is time for me to depart. My uncle would be waiting for me."

"I will also leave," Hermione also chimed in.

Arthur nodded, "Are you sure that your guardians would not agree for you to stay at the Burrow with us? I can personally talk with them if this can help…"

Harry shook his head, "No, Mr. Weasley."

"My uncle has made his final decision," he said.

"And it would not be good for you to meet him… he hates anything magical," he said with a sad face.

"My parents also did not agree," sad Hermione. "And they are not going to change their mind."

Arthur nodded and took out a handkerchief, "Come, let me drop you to Diagon Alley."

Harry stretched his hand asking for the handkerchief.

"Don't worry, Mr. Weasley," he said. "Me and Hermione will manage."

Arthur wanted to drop the duo but the question and the curiosity in his mind were running amok.

He gave a reluctant nod and handed the handkerchief to Harry.

"Stay safe," he said. "My house name is the activation word."

Harry took Hermione's hand and muttered, "The Burrow."

With a twist of space, the duo vanished from there. Arthur was quick on his feet as he got up and took hold of Ron by the back of his collar.

"Dad, what are you doing?" Ron shouted in protest.

Arthur paid no heed and dragged Ron inside the tent into one of the rooms. He almost threw Ron on the chair and sat directly opposite him.

Before Ron could say anything, Arthur said in deep voice, "Ron, tell me exactly all what had happened after I had asked you and Hermione to run."

"Don't miss a thing," he said.

Ron swallowed hard as he began his tale.
