Harry Potter: Using science to be IMMORTAL

Chapter 396: Chapter 395: Pursuit

Almost immediately, Murphy sensed something was wrong.

He looked at the commander next to him, Shahelin Popolov, "Is there any fuel left in the lunar orbit's work cabin?"

"Yes, we reserved some, and there should still be a third of the fuel left in the work cabin now."

The Traceless Expansion Charm gave the spacecraft enormous leeway in terms of space and mass. The rocket used in this launch was actually designed to carry at least three people back and forth to the moon. By comparison, the target payload of the current unmanned lunar probe was less than one-fifth of that capacity. It was a waste not to use the extra mass, so more fuel was reserved in the work cabin.

"Detonate it," Murphy said.

"What?" Popolov was startled.

The lunar exploration hadn't even started, and while there might be problems with the landing module, the work cabin could still observe some data from lunar orbit. It seemed a pity to just blow it up.

"Is there a problem?" Murphy asked.

"Technically, it's not difficult..."

Getting a spacecraft reliably into space is quite difficult, but making it explode is actually not that hard. A slight adjustment to the engine parameters is enough to cause an explosion.

"Then send the command, immediately! This is an order!" Murphy said.

Watching a green dot on the large screen rapidly approaching the work cabin's rendezvous orbit, Murphy felt a strong sense of unease.

There really was something on the far side of the moon! Without guidance or fuel, the landing module managed to break away from lunar gravity and was preparing to rendezvous with the work cabin. What then, could it return to Earth? And what might it bring back with it?

Whatever it was, Murphy's intuition was to blow it up first.

However, the moment the command was issued, the green dot suddenly disappeared from the screen.

At the same time, "The landing module and work cabin have rendezvoused! The work cabin's engines have ignited, it... is leaving lunar orbit, it's preparing to return to Earth!"

"How is that possible!?" Shahelin was shocked. Just a moment ago, the landing module was at least 12,000 kilometers away from the work cabin in lunar orbit, and it had just rendezvoused?

This distance is equivalent to going from Beijing to New York, and the work cabin is less than ten meters long. Such precise teleportation over great distances, especially in space, was beyond his understanding.

With such technology, why worry about space rendezvous at all?

The work cabin seemed to be controlled in an instant, and the explosion did not occur.

Murphy connected to the pioneer in the mental network and immediately issued several coordinates. Several missile bases in Irkutsk, Sukhoi, received the order to prepare for battle, and ten R-36M ballistic missile silos were ready to launch.

At the same time, Murphy's Starlink system was also activated, ready to capture the entity's presence through magical power at any moment.

With the speed of the object, even with 380,000 kilometers between the Earth and the Moon, if it could teleport more than 10,000 kilometers each time, it would only take about thirty or so teleports, and in an extreme case, it might reach Earth's orbit in two or three minutes.

With such speed, missiles might not hit it at all, and considering it might be some "deity," the spells triggered by Starlink satellites might not cause effective damage.

Therefore, Murphy prepared on both fronts, relying on Starlink satellites for wide-range search, using magic for restraint, and then delivering a fatal strike with strategic nuclear weapons.

However, just as Murphy made arrangements, the signal from the work cabin suddenly disappeared.

Both laser and radio signals vanished without a trace.

In the vastness of space, at such a great distance, losing signal connection meant completely losing track of it.

Murphy clicked his tongue and immediately notified the Sukhoi defense department, asking them to monitor any extraterrestrial objects on possible paths with all means.

But that was just a shot in the dark; with the methods of the other party, it was highly unlikely they would be discovered before they chose to reveal themselves.

...

Two days later, the Atlantic Ocean.

"Bang!" Like a bomb exploding on the water surface, spray shot up more than ten meters high.

The intense impact caused the landing module's invisibility magic to fail, and the entire lander disintegrated upon impact.

A red worm crawled out of the cracked hatch, compared to when it first leapt into the landing module, its size had shrunk by five or six times, resembling a small earthworm.

The "earthworm" then fell into the ocean, floating with the water as if it had already died, motionless.

A fish swam by and swallowed the "earthworm" in one gulp. Immediately, its body twitched violently, then the fish's eyes flashed with an unknown light, and it quickly swam away in a certain direction.

...

In a dark room, Murphy suddenly opened his eyes.

"Found you!"

In Siberia, Sukhoi, the Eye of Odin magical power radar array just detected a unique change in magical power background radiation. Its magical frequency was extremely high, a whole order of magnitude higher than the magical frequency of the Virgin Mary.

In an instant, precise coordinates appeared in Murphy's mind. The next moment, three Starlink satellites passing over the Pacific received the order, adjusting their frequency to emit detecting magical vibrations, and then locked onto the target.

However, the moment it was locked by the satellite radar, it seemed to sense something and disappeared again.

...

"Bang!" The fish's body exploded due to the spatial pressure of long-distance teleportation, but the "earthworm" immediately found a new host, a nearly two-meter-long sea snake.

This time, it didn't wait for the sea snake to approach; it shot into the sea snake's eye like a sharp arrow, then controlled the host to move underwater at a supersonic speed of hundreds of meters per second.

However, a magical fluctuation swept over its body again, and a few seconds later, it felt that terrifying sensation of a sword hanging over its head.

Without hesitation, it teleported again, crossing over a thousand kilometers, and entered the body of a shark.

When the magical fluctuation came again, it didn't hide anymore. The opponent's methods were too strange; it seemed no matter how far it teleported, it would be discovered by the opponent. Since that was the case, it might as well create a suitable shell for itself first.

The unfortunate shark's belly seemed to contain a black hole; its huge body rapidly collapsed inward with terrible bone-cracking sounds. In the blink of an eye, it was compressed into a ball of bone spikes and muscles.

Thick blood flowed over the surface of the ball, even stirring the surrounding seawater into motion, forming a vortex underwater. Countless fish and shrimp were sucked into it, then crushed and merged into the ball.

"Puff!" With a sound like piercing a thin membrane, a bloody hand reached out from the ball.

Then, a very muscular man crawled out of the blood ball. He stood on the water surface, with his right arm missing and only his left hand holding a blood-formed greatsword.

"I! Have returned!"

The man's voice, like a large bell, traveled hundreds of miles. He raised the great sword high and roared again, "I! Tyr! Have returned..."

However, before he could finish his sentence, a massive green light beam descended from the sky, smashing down on his head like a giant hammer, plunging him back into the sea.

In the dark room, Murphy's gaze, through the magical satellite, overlooked the area of the sea evaporated by the Avada Kedavra beam from thousands of kilometers away.

"If you like hiding so much, then you might as well never show your face again."
