LIGHTNOVELWORLD Chapter 18: Taken Hostage
"B, b, bandits!, Of all things i expected, Bandits!!" Iode thought were starting to run wild, his hands were shaking and began to sweat.
When the man with red hair heard Iode said the coachman was running away, he knew the only reason for that is "Bandits". Iode has heard his father mention numerous times that bandits often times attack merchants in their journeys, but has yet to experience one himself even when he traveled to the Rohanes Academy for the assessments, but today is one of the unlucky days he met them.
"Get out of the carriage if you don't want to explode in there". A voice from the bandits said.
All six of the passengers, Iode included, got down from the carriage. They saw the bandits and the one who seems to have spoken earlier was their bandits leader. He stood in front of them and the remaining bandits behind him.
The leader is a large bellied, six foot man. His facial hair covered the entire lower half of his face, making him look like a bear more than a wizard.
The other bandits looked like those who barely bathed, and they had several missing teeth as they grinned widely with weapons and staffs in their hands.
As they all got out of the carriage, Iode expected one of his fellow passengers to at least fight back or give the bandits a good beating that they would wish that they were never born.
"At least that's why they didn't hire any mercenary to guard them in the first place". Iode thought, but surprise, surprise, they were all shaking in their boots. Iode doesn't need anyone to tell him, they are all in trouble.
"Give all your belongings to us and no one will get hurt". The leader said. The five men, without delay gave their goods and money to the bandits. Iode was mesmerized by these men cowardice, but what can he do? If these men are afraid of fighting back, a one star Wizard like him can do nothing, only courting death if he tries fighting.
He had no choice but to comply with the bandits. All the money, clothes, food his parents gave him are now in the hands of the bandits, Iode was sad.
The other five men were expecting the bandits to leave as they have taken everything, but they didn't leave, to their surprise, they were surrounded and tied by ropes.
"What are you doing, you said if we give you our belongings you'll let us go, we already gave you all we have, why are you still tying our hands and taking us hostages". A man with purple hair confronted them.
"I didn't say I'll let you go, i said no one will get hurt, do you lack memory or what" the leader replied. "this is the middle of a wilderness, no one will look for you".
Iode's heart sank hearing this, after losing everything, he can't go forward to the nearest city or town and he can't turn back to go back home, rather he has become an hostage and who knows what they will do to them.
The six of them were taken to a cave like place, there they found out that they weren't the only victims. There were 11 others more, put behind metal bars. They were also put behind these bars with the 11 others. Iode just sat down, he had no hope of leaving this place.
