Chapter 71: Chapter 18: Rimuru's Chosen One
After changing back into her signature black-and-red Gothic attire, Theresa departed from the Princess's chamber.
She had meticulously planned numerous tasks for the young girl. Bound by the vampire contract Theresa had imposed upon her, the princess could not resist these arrangements.
In just a few days, the old king would pass away, and his only direct heir—the second princess—would ascend to the throne as queen. The majority of nobles and ministers were already aligned with this succession.
From there, Theresa awaited the moment when she could transform this principality entirely into her domain of familiars.
Before leaving, Theresa bestowed a set of Stigmata on the second princess: two-star Hannah Stigmata. She also provided her with ten firearms and five grenade launchers—all basic models—to distribute as she saw fit!
-
On the third day, Theresa rode atop her mount—a half-Honkai Impact black dragon—back to the goblin village nestled within the Great Jura Forest.
When the black dragon appeared over their village, it sent Rimuru's goblin brothers into a state of sheer terror.
These were not yet the advanced goblins of later times; they had merely undergone a simple evolution once before.
"Everyone, fear not," Theresa called out from atop the black dragon. "This is my mount, Inky." After all, these were still Rimuru's little buddies, so she felt obliged to be courteous. She didn't want risk falling out of favor when he became more powerful and stopped playing with her.
"It's Lady Theresa!"
"Heavens above! Such a mighty dragon serves as Lady Theresa's mount? Truly awe-inspiring."
"As expected of a friend of our esteemed Master Rimuru."
-
The goblins engaged in clearing land below immediately began fawning over Theresa.
Though they were merely goblins, their praise filled her with satisfaction—after all, these creatures were Rimuru's subordinates.
Just then, several transformations occurred within the black dragon. It seemed to grow even larger, with additional bone spurs sprouting along its back.
The black dragon had evolved... Now it bore a striking resemblance to that infamous Deathwing...
"Holy shit... No way!" Theresa felt as though one-fifth of her blood seal energy had vanished from her body.
"Many thanks for bestowing me with a name, master," the black dragon said, its tone a mix of joy and exasperation. "Though I must say, 'Inky' isn't exactly what I'd choose for myself."
As any knowledgeable being in this world would attest, naming a demonic creature required an immense amount of magical essence—a permanent consumption that could never be recovered.
Rimuru had been able to name so many goblins, Orcs, Ogres, and other creatures because he possessed a Tempest Dragon inside him, which boasted an inexhaustible supply of magical essence. This was why Rimuru dared to engage in such frivolity.
After releasing the Tempest Dragon, however, Rimuru grew wary of casually attempting more namings.
How had simply uttering a nickname for the black dragon resulted in actually naming it? Feeling the depletion of her blood seal energy, Theresa wished she could slap herself repeatedly.
To have wasted such a significant portion of her blood seal energy—she certainly didn't possess an infinite reserve like the Tempest Dragon did. Or rather, not yet at least.
Although... once her kingdom of familiar spirits was established, her blood seal energy should multiply by dozens or perhaps even hundreds.
-
But surely I won't just name future monsters after any random person, right? Wouldn't that be utterly impractical...
Not at all. The black dragon was named because it serves as your customized familiar and mount.
"That's a relief..." Theresa mused aloud. "System, have you suddenly become very human-like? Do you perhaps have a preference for more Loli characters?"
The System had been so aloof when dealing with Yae Sakura earlier; now, with Theresa, it had transformed into a considerate young woman overnight.
Host, you're reading too much into things.
"I don't think I'm imagining things," Theresa countered. "You're clearly obsessed with young kids—it's kinda creepy! For a System to fancy such diminutive forms."
...
-
After teasing the System for a moment, Theresa leaped off the black dragon's back.
"Inky, you're free to go play now!"
"Yes," replied Inky with a nod before spreading his wings and soaring away.
As he watched the dragon depart, Theresa turned her attention to the goblins before him. "Nothing significant has happened over these past few days, right?"
"Correct," they answered in unison.
-
Several more days passed without incident in the goblin village. Theresa continued her routine, venturing out occasionally to slay magical beasts but otherwise staying idle.
However, within these few days, the blood seal energy coursing through Theresa's body had skyrocketed. Not only had she replenished what was used when naming Inky, it had tripled beyond that mark.
It felt as though... this surge wasn't merely from the Grand Duchy alone; there seemed to be contributions from other places as well.
Upon reflection, she realized she had indeed established families across several locations—a testament to her growing influence and power.
"Lord Rimuru has returned!"
As Theresa approached the village with a massive demonic beast in tow, she was greeted by the sight of the adorable Rimuru accompanied by several dwarves making their way back.
It seemed that Rimuru had successfully poached talent from the dwarf kingdom—indeed, each one appeared to be an exceptionally powerful individual... Each possessing mastery in their own unique field.
"Rimuru, you're back!" Theresa exclaimed, setting down her monstrous burden as she hurried over to greet him.
"Yes, everything went smoothly," Rimuru replied. "Has anything happened in the village while I was away?"
"No, all is well."
"Allow me to introduce these three great masters..." Rimuru began, presenting the dwarf brothers in turn.
Theresa studied the trio before her; their appearances were both peculiar and hilarious...
-
With three master dwarves on board, the formal expansion of the village began in earnest.
Under their meticulous planning, the goblin village swiftly underwent a remarkable transformation—especially as Rimuru introduced numerous modern architectural blueprints...
The pace of construction was breakneck; at this rate, it wouldn't be long before they could build a fully modernized city.
Even Theresa lent her assistance, after all, partaking in the development of the Monster Kingdom was a condition of completing her bounty mission.
Though currently, the kingdom comprised only goblins and members of the Fang clan—a far cry from its future grandeur.
Calm days rarely last long...
One fateful day, Rimuru ventured out and returned with three adventurers and a masked figure—the one he called his destined partner—in tow.
-
"Rimuru! Your destined one—could it be your wife? Wahahaha... Is she also a slime?" Theresa, who had grown close to Rimuru over time, immediately thought of Shizu upon hearing him mention his fated encounter. However, she playfully teased him with her question.
"Oh no," Rimuru replied earnestly as they walked side by side. "She's a very beautiful girl, and seems to be from our world too. When I mentioned that i'm not a bad slime, she understood right away."
"Really? Then she must truly be from our world indeed. How wonderful... We've found another fellow countryman."
"Yes, exactly!"
"Take me to meet her then—the destined one of Rimuru."
