Hidan

I woke up at an unfamiliar ceiling. I take a look around me and concluded that I'm no longer at the forest. The heavy rain outside, the metal pipes, the buildings that seems like they are giant tubes all connected to each other, yep. I'm in the Hidden Rain Village but who brought me here?

As I ponder my current predicament, the door suddenly opened. I look at the newcomer and immediately saw the Hidden Rain head band.

"Hidan-san, Konan-sama had called for you."

"Alright."

The shinobi then dissapeared by shunshin. I got up and noticed the neatly piled clothes at my bedside along with a new scythe and a standard akatsuki cloak. I grabbed my clothes and started putting them on.

After I finish putting on my clothes, I grabbed my scythe and went to the amegakure office. During my walk, I noticed a massive wall outside the window. The wall towered all of the Hiddden Rain's buildings. The reason for the wall, I do not know. Hopefully, Konan would fill in the blanks soon.

Once inside the office, I saw Konan talking to some of the amegakure shinobi before dismissing them. I looked at her appearance and took notice of a few small wrinkles on her face. It seems she had aged alot. Just how long have I been inside that hole? She laid her eyes on me and ushered me to take a sit.

"Hidan, you are well."

"Well, It was rough getting out of the hole but I ultimately did."

I saw her nod at my answer. "I'm well aware. The news of your defeat left a bit of a blow on the akatsuki considering both of you and Kakuzu are the ones who manages the money of this organization."

"Oh yeah, about Kakuzu. Did he survive? Considering the resilience of that guy, he must have made it through, right?"

"..."

"Right?"

"..."

The silence is a bit unnerving now.

"...unfortunately, he didn't make it."

Oh...huh, I thought I would be happy about that but surprisingly, all I feel is...dissapointment.

"Well, what about the others? Are Deidara and others still around?"

"..."

"...you have gotta be kidding me."

She let out a sigh at me. "Listen well, Hidan. Because this could take a few hours."

And true to Konan's statement. It did take a few hours. Apparently, Kakuzu and I have been considered dead after the failure of the mission. Deidara came next after killing himself during his altercation with Itachi's brother. That dumb-ass, Tobi, turned out to be the real leader of the akatsuki, Itachi died, Pain also died, and Kisame died too. Konan and Tobi had a falling out. Tobi declared a 4th great ninja war, Madara-or something got revived. Don't really know the guy. Zetsu just dissapeared. Many had died, a goddess named Kaguya got revived, and finally we lost the war. Not to mention the fact that all the bijuus have their own faction as well. This seems like triple threat war. Honedtly, I don't know how to feel about that. Also, Konan is now the kage of the Hidden Rain Village.

"Oh...fuck."

"That's putting it mildly."

I looked at Konan and saw her small grin. I wonder what about this is amusing to her though. The world is beyond fucked. Whatever, I got enough problems to deal with as it is. Like what the hell am I suppose to do now?

"So the akatsuki...is it over?" I questioned. Considering that only the two of us are left and the primary goal of the organization is finished, I just don't see the akatsuki being needed any longer.

"No...As I have told you before. We had lost the war. The combined might of all the shinobi villages was not enough to beat both Madara and Tobi. They are simply too powerful and during a middle of battle, Kaguya, the rabbit goddess simply appeared during the completion of the moon-eye plan. After that, this world is the result of war you knew today. However, just because that our goal is finished that doesn't the organization should be disbanded. During your absence, I had to form a new team to fill in the blanks. All of them are still considered to be S-rank due to their expertise and capabilities. If you want to meet them though, I'm afraid that all of them are currently busy. So you'll have to wait a few days."

I stood there contemplating on what she told me. Something just doesn't add up like the obvious sudden appearance of this Kaguya chick. Zetsu's hiatus and Konan's altercation with Tobi. Something is missing. Looking at her gaze towards me, it's obvious that she's intentionally hiding something from me. Heh, wouldn't be the first time anyway.

"Those things..." I started.

"What do you mean?"

"Those naked white monstrosities I encountered on the forest. Two of them actually. Both of them had an unnatural sharingan eyes. What are they?"

"Ah, those things. Those are Kaguya's creations. After the war is lost, she created those things to specifically target every humans on earth. Many villages have been wiped out because of them. Only a few remaining shinobi villages have ever stood a chance. However, they are evolving. They are like a plaque. The longer they roam the earth, the stronger they become. We had tried to eradicate them a few years ago but we had forgotten that Kaguya is still in the picture."

I can see her fists shaking.

"We had no choice but to flee. From then on, we can only defend our land as much as we can."

"Hence the formation of the walls."

"Correct."

"But why not kill Kaguya directly?"

"You think we haven't tried? There were many attempts a few years ago. We gathered all the capable shinobi that's left of our nation to kill this monster once and for all but alas, all our efforts are for naught."

"...you lost again, didn't you?"

"We did."

The silence is long after that. Nothing but heavy rain was heard from the outside.

"What happened to Madara and Tobi?"

"I don't know. All our Intel has ever found out is that both of them simply dissapeared. They were never seen since."

Hmm. Curious...

"Now that you have been briefed. Go to the front gate of the village. Seeing as you currently lack a partner, you are in luck since the new akatsuki also lacks one member."

"What?"

"Your new partner will brief you of your mission. Now dismissed."

Damn. Can't even take a vacation now. Do you have any idea the pain of crawling yourself out of a hole while just being a head? Damn it woman. Soon enough, I find myself standing at the massive gate. I wore a straw hat and an akatsuki themed rain coat to cover myself from the heavy rain.

I have been standing here for more than a few hours now but my so called partner are still nowhere to be found. I couldn't take it anymore. If I have to wait for a few more hours in this Jashin forsaken rain, I'm gonna kill somebody. "What the hell man! Just show up already!"

"Sorry about that. I got lost on the road of life."

I turn around and saw my "new" partner walking towards me wearing the standard akatsuki cloak. However, my eyes went wide when I saw his face.

No fucking way. How?!

"Kakashi Hatake."
