His only Cure

Chapter 52: Chapter 52

Noah, seeing his boss's surprise, nodded in understanding. He also considered this family...different.

But maybe it was because of the constant dangers and attacks that they approached it differently than ordinary people...

Gregorej pushed the gun towards Sophie, nodding to her in understanding. The daughter with a nimble movement unlatched the gun and carefully checked where their attackers were.

Darell watched as his beloved nimbly slipped between the cars, not letting herself be noticed. He wanted to stop her, but she was already two cars away, watching carefully and preparing for action.

Father and son practically fired their magazines at the same time. They needed a few seconds to reload, but apparently the attackers were waiting for this.

They quickly moved towards the men, wanting to catch them in time and finally get rid of them, but they did not foresee one thing.

After taking literally two steps from hiding, shots were fired. One by one they began to fall like flies.

When Anton leaned out to attack again, he noticed that there was no one left. He looked with delight at his sister and their father.

It turned out that even though Sophie had been away from them for so many years, she was still a Ruslanov by blood.

Hearing the sounds of approaching sirens, they quickly began to flee the scene of the attack.

The last thing they needed was a meeting with the police and an explanation of what the big shots were doing in a shootout with some thugs.

Luckily, they were already on their way back and it wasn't far to the cars. They got into them and, as if nothing had happened, drove off towards their father's estate.

"Are you okay?" Darell finally had the opportunity to check if Sophie had not been hurt.

"I'm ok. And you, dad?" She patted Darell on the shoulder and turned to her father in the backseat.

"Yes. I'm sorry you had to go through this. I didn't think something like this would happen today." Her father became sad, feeling that their time had ended like this.

"It's not your fault. Besides, I always wanted to practice on a real target."

After saying this, Sophie felt strange. She thought that after everything was over, she would feel guilty and would never pick up a gun again... but she felt such a strange inner peace.

Maybe because the attackers were masked and their faces were hidden, her brain didn't process it as killing real people? Frowning, she wondered if there was something wrong with her.

Maybe I'm some kind of psychopath who hasn't awakened his inner monster yet... A shiver ran through her body at the thought of it.

"Sophie" Her father caught her attention. "It's okay, honey. You're not weird" He replied as if reading her mind. "You don't regret it and it worries you, right?" He looked at his surprised daughter with understanding.

"How do you know?" She mumbled quietly.

"You have the same surprised look on your face as Anton when he first killed. He asked me why it came so easily to him and why he didn't feel anything..."Gregorej remembered his unwavering face. "It seems that both of you have a strong mind and considering them a threat, you decided that this was the only solution. You won't feel guilty if you had no other option and you are my children. Keeping a cool head is an essential part of our family" He said looking at her. "Sophie. You are a good woman. Nothing will change that" He comforted his daughter.

Darell seeing her lost expression, hugged her to him. "Sweetie. You are wonderful. You can handle any situation and think outside the box. Maybe I should have worried when I offered myself as your living target" He laughed, breaking the tension. "If I knew you wouldn't hesitate to eliminate me, I wouldn't have stood there so confidently" He looked at Sophie with narrowed eyes, seeing a smile appear on her face.

"Admit it. You were scared" She touched his chest with her finger.

"I might have felt a drop of sweat running down my back" He looked into her laughing eyes. "You looked incredibly sexy back then" He whispered in her ear. "I couldn't resist your figure and your murderous gaze" He said playfully, earning a nudge for it.

"Yeah right. You probably wanted to destroy me that same day and watch me crawl at your feet begging for forgiveness." She snorted, remembering what happened after their confrontation.

"You threatened my daughter?" A murderously cold voice spoke from the backseat.

Darell looked in the mirror, seeing Gregorej's furious face. He swallowed hard and glanced at Sophie, who was clearly having a good laugh. Clenching his hands on the steering wheel, he tried to explain the situation somehow.

"She was the one who wanted to kill me. We were rivals back then and 'teased' each other from time to time. It never crossed my mind to hurt her" He answered honestly.

Sophie, seeing the beads of sweat forming on his forehead, decided to help him.

"Come on, dad. We were each other's pains in the ass. Old times. Things have changed for the better." She patted Darell's head, seeing how he slowly relaxed.

"I hope that won't change. If my daughter suffers because of you..." The threat was uttered.

Darell tensed again, knowing what they were capable of. However, he had no intention of changing what was between them.

He couldn't imagine spending a day without Sophie. If the day came when Sophie left...that would be the end of him.

"I won't hurt Sophie. Never" He assured, placing his right hand on her knee and gently massaging it.

There was total silence in the other car. Neither Anton nor Noah felt like talking.

Anton was furious that someone had decided to attack them, knowing how it would end. He decided to take Noah to his father and make a few phone calls. He would find out who was so brazen as to attack his loved ones. And personally take care of revenge.

Even his father wouldn't be able to stop him from doing so. Especially since Noah had to go through this again. Fortunately, it wasn't anything serious like a few years ago, but... It could remind him of everything. Glancing at the man out of the corner of his eye, he saw him looking through the window with a bored look.

"Is everything oka..?"

"You're going to leave me and deal with them, right?" He interrupted him, asking firmly. "You know that tomorrow evening we're going back and we probably won't see each other soon? Despite that, you'll leave me because your pride won't let you, right?"

"Noah....They attacked us when we were with you. What if something happened to you?" He said through clenched teeth.

"You talk as if it was my first time! Nothing happened to me. You defended me like always... But after everything, as always, you'll leave me alone..." Tears appeared in the corners of his eyes.

Such experiences and attacks were not unfamiliar to him. However, he always wanted to snuggle up in Anton's safe chest after everything and calm his nerves, knowing that nothing was wrong with them. That everything would be fine because they had each other.

But Anton left him alone every time. With the bodyguards in front of the door.

He had to check who and why so he could quickly deal with them. But at least he could spend an hour with him before he started killing. At least an hour...

"I can't let the enemy threaten my loved ones" The cold words hurt his waiting heart. Fortunately, they pulled up in front of the estate and Noah could openly say what he thought, knowing that Anton would leave anyway.

"Maybe I should become your enemy too. Then you would spend more time with me. I know I'm a man but I also need..... Never mind. Go do what you're good at" Noah growled coldly, slamming the door behind him and following the others into the estate.

Anton watched with a visibly hurt gaze as his beloved disappeared behind the door. Furious with himself, he punched the steering wheel with his fist, which caused the airbags to deploy. He got out of the car and got into the next one.

With a murderous look, he drove away from the estate. He wanted to spend this time with Noah, too. He wanted to feel his closeness after everything... But minutes mattered.

The enemies erased their traces in the blink of an eye. Everything disappeared before anyone noticed anything had happened.

He had to attack immediately, before they erased their traces. After making a few phone calls, his men began searching.

Arriving at the base in a foul mood, his men were afraid to even look at him. His cold and murderous aura could be felt in the air.

"What do you have?"

"The twins have a problem"

Anton growled with dissatisfaction as he walked to the next room.

At one of the stations sat two men who looked like two peas in a pod. Both had a tattoo of a crescent moon on their necks, but each from a different side. They were slim but well built. They had short hair and brown eyes. Apparently engrossed in their work, they did not even notice when the boss approached their station, observing their work.

"Something wrong?" He asked suddenly, knocking them out of their reverie.

"Another pair of hands would be useful. This time they are well prepared" They said sentence after sentence alternately.

"Wouldn't the boss have someone to help?" They asked together.

"Do you think people like you grow on trees? If they were so easily accessible then..." Anton suddenly stopped in mid-sentence. He pulled out his phone and reluctantly dialed a number.

"What did I do to deserve a call from you, dear Anton?" Don's voice rang out.
