His Ruthless Pursuit

Chapter 2: 2

I quietly watched Rafael as he stood on my doorstep. I turned around and picked Mila up from where she was sitting.

I carried upstairs to my room and placed her down on my bed before I quietly made my way into my closet. I tied my hair into a ponytail before breathing out nervously.

I opened the secret door in my closet before I entered the room where I stored all of my weapons.

Everything in my house is ready for our next escape. I've been planning for this for the last two years and I've never stopped.

I grabbed a duffle bag before I placed my best guns into it. I gently added all my ammunition, grenades, and silencers before I zipped up the bag. I went back into my room before I picked Mila up and into my arms. She wrapped her arms around my neck as I carried her downstairs with me.

I made my way into my office before I opened my safe. I grabbed the last of Mateo's money from it before I put it inside the duffle bag. I left my office before I went into the garage. I put Mila on the ground and she frowned at me.

"Mommy where are we going?" She sadly asked me.

"We're going on a trip, mi cielo. Isn't that exciting?" I asked Mila while I grabbed the two suitcases that I had packed for Mila and me about six months ago. I placed it into my trunk before I opened the car.

I placed Mila inside the car before I buckled her seatbelt. I walked over to my side of the car before I climbed in behind the steering wheel. Knowing that Mateo's men couldn't harm me, I started the engine before I opened the garage door. I drove out of the garage and onto the road. I speeded down the street without looking back and Mila started crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked her but she just continued to cry. "Mila, why are you crying?" I asked her again and she looked up at me with red eyes.

"I don't wanna leave, Mommy. Mommy, I'm sick," she cried out, and my eyes welled up with tears. "Mommy I want to stay here!" She said before she started crying again and a tear rolled down my cheek.

"Mila, please. I know you're sick, but we can't stay here. Some bad men are looking for Mommy, and if they find us, they'll hurt us. We can't stay here, baby." I told her in a gentle tone and she sniffled sadly as she looked up at me. She didn't say anything after that she just silently stared out the window.

After ten minutes of driving Mila was sound asleep. I finally gave in to my emotions before I started crying hysterically.

It's only a matter of time until Mateo comes looking for me himself. How will I protect her from him?

Mateo is ten times better than me at everything.

I won't be able to win against him, él es el Salvador de la mafia (he's the savior of the mafia).

He's Mateo Delacruz. He knows how I fight because we used to train together, he knows how I think that's how he always managed to find me.

He's never lost a fight and he sure as hell won't lose one against me. He's the Don of the Salvador mafia clan. He's the don of the most feared and most dangerous mafia family in all of Spain.

I'm a nobody compared to him.

After three hours of driving, I finally arrived at the harbor. I parked my car before jumping out and stepping onto a concrete field. I grabbed Mila, who was still sleeping, from the backseat and carried her over to the Daisy, my dad's cabin cruiser. I climbed onto the boat putting Mila in bed.

I made my way out of the cabin before I jumped off the boat and ran back to my car. I grabbed our suitcases from the trunk, my duffle bag along with my purse before I made my way back to the Daisy.

I loaded our things onto the Daisy before I climbed on myself. I entered the cockpit before I switched the boat on and the engine started whirring.

I turned my GPS on before I started steering in the direction of the nearest city.

The Daisy is the only thing I have left of my dad. It's pure since it's the only thing I didn't get from Mateo. All the money I had in my safe was Mateo's. The clothes on our backs were bought with his money. Everything I have belongs to him, including my daughter. She's both mine and his.

Mila is the only pure thing that will ever be tied to Mateo's name. And I refuse to let him ruin her life like he ruined mine.

I wish my dad was still here, he'd take me in as if I was still his innocent little girl. He would've protected me from Mateo's wrath. Because he was the strongest man I knew, and he left this world too soon.

I still need him and now I'll never get to see him again. He's another person that Mateo took away from me. He swore he didn't do it but I knew better.

The sun started rising so I let out a sigh of relief. My daughter and I survived another day.

Mateo didn't find us.

I went into the cabin and found Mila sound asleep in bed. I went back upstairs and the beautiful city came into view. I docked the boat, and I gave my dad's friend, Uncle Charlie, all the cash I had on me so that he'd look after my dad's boat. I gave him ten thousand dollars, which should be enough until I see him again.

"Where are you and little Mila heading this time?" Uncle Charlie asked me and I shrugged lightly.

"Somewhere only we know," I told Uncle Charlie, and he sighed lightly.

"Are you still running from El Salvador?" He asked me in concern and I looked over my shoulders before nodding at him.

"Let me go grab Mila," I told Uncle Charlie, and he nodded at me. I made my way onto the boat before I entered the cabin.

I gently tapped her shoulder, but she didn't wake up; she didn't even move. I removed the blanket from her body, and my eyes widened in shock, and a feeling of panic took over my entire body.

Something's wrong.
