Chapter 4: 4
Mateo's POV
My beautiful wife.
Still so set in her own ways. Still so unaware that my way is the only right way. I slowly walked closer to her and she backed up against the desk centered in the room.
I caged her in by placing my hands on the desk next to her thighs. I looked up, and our lips were mere inches apart from each other, and for a moment, I had her right where I wanted her.
"I have a proposal for you, Hera," I whispered into her ear. She didn't move an inch so I assume that she was waiting for me to tell her about my proposal.
"Be my wife again," I said before gripping her waist into my hands. "Fully," I uttered before moving my hands to her ass and she looked at me in shock.
"Get away from me, Mateo!" She angrily yelled before pushing me away from her and I chuckled to myself. "And stay away from me!" She continued so I nodded at her in understanding.
"Fully?" She wildly asked me.
"Yes, fully. I want you, Hera." I said before pulling her toward me by her waist.
"You're sick!" She spat at me and I smirked at her.
"Am I sick for wanting to take my daughter home? Or for wanting my marriage back?" I asked her and she angrily glared up at me.
"No! But you're sick for hunting me down like an animal, Mateo. When you know what you did to my dad." She wildly told me and a frown settled on my forehead.
"Wait a minute. I don't understand." I frowned at her before leaning into her and she hit me on the chest.
"You killed my dad and everybody knows it." She angrily told me before hitting me again. "And you're still here acting so goddamn righteous. High and mighty piece of-" She started, and I placed a rough kiss on her lips she tried to fight me, but soon all her anger melted away, and she slowly started kissing me back with the same amount of need.
"Mateo please." She uttered against my lips, and I picked her up from the ground and her legs circled my torso.
"Let me go." She whispered as I kissed her neck. "Mateo!" She yelled at me and I groaned in frustration before putting her down. She fixed her uniform before turning her back on me.
"Then I'm taking my daughter. We leave in two hours. And in case you do decide to come with us, it will be on one condition." I pointedly told her.
"She's not going anywhere with you, Mateo. Do you think I won't call the cops?" She asked me and I laughed at her.
"This is my city, Hera. Every cop in this city is on my payroll. You're hilarious for even considering calling the cops on me." I told her and she frowned at me.
"Then I'll go to another city." She shot back at me and I nodded at her.
"Good luck with that." I smiled at her before walking over to the door to leave the room.
"Mateo, wait," Hera uttered as I stepped out of the room, and I stopped in my tracks. "Wait." She repeated herself so I slowly turned around to face her.
"I'm listening." I softly told her and she nervously gulped down.
"I'll come with you." She said.
"Excellent." I smiled at her and she quietly watched me. "Now was that so hard?" I asked knowing that it would strike a nerve.
"You're too arrogant for your own good, Mateo." She angrily told me.
"My God, will you just stop being so pretentious, sweetheart?" I asked her and she frowned at me in confusion. "You're still wearing your wedding ring." I told her and she slowly looked down at her wedding ring in shock, almost as if she'd just been caught out.
"I can't get it off. That's the only reason why I'm still wearing it." She lied to me through her teeth and I nodded at her with a smile on my face. She looked down at my hands and I followed her gaze down to the silver band on my ring finger.
"If it makes you feel any better, I can't get mine off either." I mockingly told her.
"He thinks I'm lying." She hopelessly muttered under her breath and I smirked to myself.
I don't think she's lying. I know that she's lying. This gives me all the more reason to fight for our marriage. For our daughter. I care about her, perhaps more than she realizes.
I know I didn't always show it but I- loved her. But over the years all that love turned turned into pain and hatred. She shoved a knife into my back, and she twisted it, and she'll keep twisting that knife if I don't stop her.
