Chapter 34 - Catching J (2)
J sent out her Nidoking and Seismitoad.
Nidoking is a Poison/Ground-type Pokémon with purple skin and a white chest and abdomen, and it resembles a stereotypical monster.
Seismitoad, on the other hand, is a Water/Ground-type Pokémon that resembles a large blue toad.
“Nidoking, use Earthquake! Seismitoad, use Hydro Pump!”
In order to deal with Heatran, J strategically sent out Pokémon that are strong against Heatran – Earthquake deals quadruple the damage to Heatran, while Hydro Pump does double.
Nidoking stomped on the ground, generating violent waves that shook the earth to its core. The vibration travelled rapidly towards Heatran as it upheaved the earth in its travel.
Meanwhile, a high-pressure water jet spurt out from Seismitoad’s mouth, moving rapidly towards Heatran.
Heatran was busy dealing with J’s Salamence, and had no way of dodging both Earthquake and Hydro Pump.
As soon as the intense vibrations reached Heatran, it could feel an intense wave of pain spreading throughout its nerves, and the Hydro Pump caused it to feel incredibly damp, uneasy, and painful as the water seeped into its body.
Heatran winced in pain, causing it to stop belching flames towards Salamence, which in turn allowed Salamence’s Hyper Beam to penetrate through its defenses and hit Heatran on the body.
Heatran was already weakened before the battle, and it could no longer withstand the attacks from three of its sides. Heatran’s eyes gradually rolled up after a brief struggle and limply fell to the ground.
J smirked, tapping on the device on her wrist in preparation to capture Heatran for herself.
However, Hong Meiling was able to retrieve Heatran back into the Poké Ball just in time.
J’s smirk froze for a moment, before chuckling, “I advise you to hand over your Heatran in an obedient manner. Otherwise, you’re next.”
J is, by no means, a good person. Her moral compass is non-existent, and she will hurt and manipulate to get what she wants, breaking the golden rule of not allowing your own Pokémon to attack other Trainers.
She could even kill Meiling.
Listening to J’s threat, however, Meiling couldn’t help but laugh, “Isn’t that funny? I advise myself to not hand Heatran over. Otherwise, you’re being thrown into jail.”
J was dumbfounded hearing this, Her Heatran fainted! What is she talking about? Does she have something more powerful than Heatran? No matter, if that’s the case, I’ll catch both Heatran and the other Pokémon!
J turned to glance at Meiling, only to find that she vanished. In a blur, she found Meiling next to her Nidoking.
H-how did she cover such a long distance in an instant?
The next moment, Meiling leapt forward and punched Nidoking in the chest, causing a dull shockwave to resonate throughout the air.
Nidoking wailed in pain, but Meiling didn’t stop her assault of fists onto the Pokémon.
Nidoking had no way of retaliating, and it was obvious that this strange human’s punches were causing great pain to it.
J, hovering in the air on the back of her Salamence, was shocked. How?! S-she knows that martial arts Trainer right? But even if she knows martial arts, how did she knock my Nidoking to the ground?!
J shook her head, and turned to her Seismitoad.
“Seimistoad, Hydro Pump her!”
Seimistoad turned and spat out a violent jet of water towards Meiling.
However, Meiling vanished from view once again, and the jet of water missed.
In an instant, she phased next to Seimistoad, and delivered a healthy punch on Seimistoad.
How?! Is she human?! How?!
And just like its companion, Seimistoad suffered a flurry of punches and fainted.
“Salamence! Hyper Beam, now!” J barked. With such a strange and powerful human, she needed to deal with her immediately.
Salamence roared, and shot out a destructive ray towards Meiling.
Meiling smirked and stood her ground, facing the beam head-on as if it was nothing but harmless sunlight.
Meiling gathered qi into her right hand, and gave the Hyper Beam a hefty punch, dispelling it.
J’s eyes widened, D-did I see that right? She dispelled my Salamence’s beam… with her fist? Pokémon can’t tank it, but this human…
She knew she wasn’t dreaming. She pinched herself, and indeed, such an unbelievable thing occured.
Steadying herself, Meiling leapt up and dashed towards Salamence.
Salamence was about seventy meters up in the air, as high as a six-story building, but with a single jump, Meiling was facing it.
This shocked J, but to a lesser extent. If she could beat her Pokémon up, what’s to say that she couldn’t jump up to beat her Salamence up too?
Salamence somewhat resembles a dragon, with a broad and solid back allowing J to stand on it without falling off. However, its head was tiny in proportion to its body, but Meiling was able to step on its head gracefully as if she was stepping on stones in a body of water.
Salamence wanted to shake itself to throw Meiling off, but it stopped itself. After all, its master was also standing on its back, and it might end up killing her.
However, Meiling gathered countless qi in her body, causing her mass to skyrocket. With the sudden weight pressing down on its head, it twisted and spiraled towards the ground rapidly.
“Hey! Hey! What’s wrong with you?!” J yelled as they all began falling to the ground, not realizing that her Salamence was ambushed.
J didn’t know what had happened to her Salamence, and she couldn’t know what’s happening to it either. Her Salamence could easily withstand the weight of two people.
J guessed Meiling must’ve done something. In an attempt to stabilize herself, she slipped, and fell from her Salamence’s back.
Meiling leapt off of Salamence’s head and caught J, doing a graceful twirl and landed on her two feet.
J was in a state of shock from the fall. Despite having a strong mental, its hard to cope with almost falling to death.
Salamence, with Meiling gone, wanted to catch itself and fly, but momentum and inertia still exists, so it ended up falling down and crashed straight into the earth.
Salamence raised its head from the ground, shaking its head and spat mud out from its mouth.
Suddenly, J shouted in Meiling’s arms, “Salamence! Use Double-Edge!”
Damn it, J, you ruthless woman! Meiling gritted her teeth. Despite being in such a precarious situation, she still ordered her Salamence to attack – and if Salamence’s attack lands, wouldn’t J herself get hit too?
However, J would rather risk getting hit than getting detained by this strange woman.
Salamence hesitated for a second, but attacked anyways, feeling J’s voice resonate throughout its spine.
Salamence flew up into the sky, then threw its body towards Meiling.
Double-Edge, as the name suggests, self-harms to deal heavy damage to the enemy.
There is a reason why J wanted to let Salamence use Double-Edge. You can dispel Hyper Beam, but you can’t throw an entire Salamence aside! My Salamence would explode if that were true.
In her mind, if Meiling did blow up the body of her Salamence, blood would paint the battle arena around them. If Officer Jenny were to witness this, wouldn’t she get captured too?
However, Meiling simply dropped J, then stepped forward.
“Red Cannon!”
As Salamence rushed closer, Meiling punched violently.
