Horizon before dawn

Keeping our spartan training early on in the morning both of us were making real progress.

We trained like real soldiers early in the morning and hunt and gather everything we could till late night.

Our days were tiring but productive.

Albedo was a perfect child soldier, obedient, motivated, focused and most important she had a fire inside of her that wanted to burn all the Carja tribe, she would never let go of her trauma and hate until she could spill rivers of Carja blood with her own hands.

So the ten days passed like that and it was time to go back base, the ancient old ruin was waiting for me, i still needed to learn some code and explain things to Albedo.

When we were eating our dinner i turn myself to her and told her the plan.

"We are leaving this place for now, so pack all our stuff, leave nothing behind, Im going to show you that new world i told you about, you are ready to learn some of it."

She looked confused at first but follow my orders anyway, she trusted me that much, so without saying another word we started packing all we could carry, it was almost a one day journey with everything we had gathered in this few days.

Traveling for a all day with all our packings were more dificult that i was expecting and after half a day we were already both prety tired.

"Let's stop for now, we still have more that half a day journey."

Coolling myself on the nearby river i saw some turkeys bathing in the sun and went for the kill, never wasting a good oportunity to gain more exp and resources.

"Hahaha, yes, perfect timing."

'Perfect, it didn't slow down time but it was almost the same thing, even better actually since i could use it to just think and solve problems faster, there was no need to aim to use the skill.'

After a few more minutes of rest we started our journey again, just a few more miles and my first base was almost on sight.

"You need to be brave now, i dont want to hear complains or questions, i need you to trust me and do everything i ask of you, i will explain everything later. Do you understand me Albedo?"

"Yes, Im with you. Dont worry, nothing will scare me." She quickly replies showing no fear only determination.

"Let's see about that, there is a rope ladder there, that will take us to a new underground cave, our new home for now, follow me down there and stay close to me."

Without another word we moved inside my very first base, an ugly and smelly one, but the code and tech there were important for my development and Albedo.

She didn't say a word but was looking at everything with cautious eyes and was clinging very close to me, she knew this is a old ruin of the old world a taboo place for the Nora tribe, a cursed place tainted by the Metal Demon.

Soon we reach our final destination, i had cleared a nice room before i left last time and all my tech stuff were there, i pick one the focus devices i had found and gave it to her, in a serius and grave voice i finally told her.

"Open your eyes for the first time girl, this is the world we live in, put that on your ear and dont take it off no matter what."

She grabbed the device with tremble hands but did what was asked of her. When the focus activated she couldn't help but let out a scream of surprise, with a fearfull expression she look around to the new things she could now see, new colors, letters she didn't understand it was all to much for her young mind to comprehend.

"That is a focus device, it help us humans understand and even manipulate the world we live on, to learn from the old world, you can see the unseen, understand and even control the machines and so much more."

"I dont understand... This place is cursed by the Metal Demon. Why you showing me this? I dont... Why?" She looks at me with pleeding eyes schearcing desperately for answers and suddenly i lost it and start rambling and screaming at her.

"Why you ask?! To make you stronger of course! Dont you want revenge? To kill the Carja that took everything from you? Dont you want to be a great hunter? That device will help you achieve your dreams more that any fake God ever could. Cursed? The real curse is the ignorance our tribe is living on, we were ment for much more that hunt and gather just to survive another day, we were ment to... So much more."

I was a bit sad for her lack of understanding and trust, but it was really not her fault, stupid matriarchs and stupid laws have corrupted this young mind.

Calming myself down i look at her and relaxed and started again.

"Do you trust me?"

She opens her mouth but no words come out. After a full minute of eye contact she finally nods her head and speaks.

"Yes... I do trust you. If this thing helps me, them so be it, i dont care if its cursed or not"

"Its not cursed... Humm. Maybe this is to much for you now but with time you will understand, i hope, let's rest for now, tomorrow i will teach you how to use the focus."

'I wonder if she will stay or just run away.'
