(Third Person POV)
"You can speak to me should you have any fears and doubts, my sweet daughter." Alicent told Helaena, "You know that, right?"
Helaena was sitting down, looking at her plate. She nudged the food with her fork, "Yes...." She said softly, "I know, Mother...."
It was the following morning, Queen Alicent and her daughter, Princess Helaena, were sitting in the table in the Queen's chambers, eating breakfast. The King and his son had skipped breakfast and discussed things in the Dragonmont, leaving the two alone.
Alicent looked at her daughter, "What is it that bothers you?" She asked, "Is something wrong? Baelon? What is standing between the two of you?"
"Nothing does." Helaena said, "What makes you say that?"
"The two of you have been married for two years, sweetling." Alicent said, "Your Father asks for a grandchild yet nothing has come of it."
"I do not think I am ready." Helaena said as she looked away
"There is something else, something more than that." Alicent said, "I heard it, Helaena. The two of you were intimate last night."
The princess's face was a little red, "I....."
"Something is bothering you....." She said, "You can tell me, daughter. What good is your mother if you cannot open up to her?"
Helaena looked at her, "D-Do you promise not to tell Baelon?"
Alicent smiled warmly, "Of course."
Helaena sighed and looked down, "I love him, Mother. I truly do. He....he is my light...he is everything to me....." She started, "I am....so happy....happier than I could possibly imagine. I spend every day with him, I feel his touch when he holds my hand, it makes me so nervous and happy...."
Alicent straightened up in her seat and grabbed a cup of wine, "Go on."
Helaena lifted her hands, she began to fidget with her fingers, "Every night, I feel his warmth.....when we become one...." She said softly, "I can feel the way he touches me with so much care....he is so gentle...I feel his breath on my neck when he leans into me....his body....is so hot...every single moment of it, I adore it...I feel his love....every single night...."
Alicent was drinking some of her wine when she nearly coughed it out, "A-Ah...." She said as she cleared her throat, not expecting this sudden talk, the details of their intimacy, "R-Right...."
"He loves me.....I feel it...every time we become one...the pleasure I feel when I am with him is immeasurable...." Helaena continued, "He loves me so much....and I love him even more....for two years, our love has never wavered...I was just a young maiden when he took me and now, I am his woman..."
"Of course...." Alicent nodded
"But...." Helaena said as she looked at her mother with tears in her eyes, "The.....t-the thought of.....bearing his child scares me..."
"Why?" Alicent asked
"I love him so much, Mother. So much...." Helaena said, "The thought of losing the child.....and breaking his heart...I can't bear it....the thought of him losing me while attempting to give birth to it...I cannot bear it...to leave him alone in despair.....I....I cannot, Mother....I wish to be by his side at all times....I....I am scared, Mother...."
Alicent stood up and walked over to her, "Oh, my sweet Helaena." She said as she hugged her daughter, "I understand....I understand perfectly...."
She caressed her cheek as she hugged her tightly, the Princess hugging her back as she began to sob.
"I....cannot do that to him, Mother..." Helaena sobbed, "I just cannot!"
"Shhh...it is okay, my dear." Alicent said as she stroked her hair, "It will be okay. I....I had my same doubts...it is a scary thing, childbirth. There is no guarantee that a mother will survive....."
"W-what happened to Baelon's mother.." Helaena said, "I do not want to leave him....I...."
"I understand, dear." Alicent said, "But look at me, your own Mother. I gave birth to four beautiful children, you included. All while raising Baelon himself."
Helaena looked up at her, tears in her eyes, "I...I know...." She sniffed, "B-But..."
Alicent gave her a smile and patted her cheek, "My sweet and loving daughter.." She said, "These doubts are understandable....but you and Baelon must talk them out.....I know that you love him, dear....I have seen it since you were a child.... ever since you were small, your eyes never left him....Baelon may not speak it, but he desires a child....and he will never force you....sooner or later, you must speak your doubts with him."
"I..." Helaena said
"Baelon is Heir." Alicent said, "It is your duty to give him a child. That sounds cruel, I know. I do not wish to force you, my sweetling...but....I will do anything to make you understand that it will be okay. When you are ready, I will be there, helping you along the way. I will not allow my daughter to face this matter alone and scared."
Helaena looked down, "Father is healthy...." She said as her voice trembled, "He will be King for a while....B-Baelon won't need to worry..."
"Yes, I know." Alicent said, "But wouldn't you like to have a child?"
Helaena nodded, "If it is his...." She said, "I want nothing more....."
"But these fears are what is holding you back?" Alicent asked
"Y-Yes...." Helaena said
"Oh, Helaena...." Alicent said as she leaned down and kissed the top of her head, "My sweet daughter. Nobody else deserves such a gentle soul like you."
"Only Baelon."
************
"You are the Heir." Viserys said as he and Baelon stood atop the Dragonmont, looking at the horizon together, "I know this is not something you want to hear now, but you'll need a son of your own. You don't want Aegon as your own heir when you ascend the throne, right?"
Baelon sighed, "That will not be for a long time, I am sure." He said, "And Aegon is becoming more mature and decent. That is not the worst thing."
"The gods did not intervene on the day you were born, saving you from death, so you cannot continue your line...." Viserys looked at him, "Do you understand?"
Baelon looked at him, "I thought I had told you and Otto that if my wife does not wish to bear me a child, then I will not force her." He said, "Are you going to do that to Helaena?"
"Don't force her, Baelon." Viserys said, "Convince her."
"I have tried." Baelon said, "But she's not ready. So I will leave it at that."
"And you have not spoken to Rhaenyra." Viserys said, "What has gotten with you two? You were inseparable when you were a child."
"I will appreciate it if you do not speak her name." Baelon turned around and walked away, "I don't want to think of her."
"Hey." Viserys said as he followed Baelon, "You are siblings, Baelon. Aemma's children. You are blood, nothing will change that."
"The thicker the blood, the deeper the cut." Baelon said as he stopped and looked at him, "I won't speak of this anymore."
Viserys sighed, "Fine." He said, "Don't speak about her. But sooner or later, you will have to speak. The two of you are alike in that manner."
"No." Baelon said with a serious face, "If you excuse me, Your Grace, I will go see my wife."
Baelon turned around and walked away once again, leaving Viserys alone.
Viserys sighed, "Oh, Aemma.." He looked up at the sky, "You left me with a wonderful boy....but gods..."
"Can he be a handful sometimes...."
