Chapter 55
EPISODE 55
To be honest, the madeleines were so good that I couldn’t believe it was my first time making them.
Maybe it was because I thought I was doing something mundane when I cooked rice, but it was strangely satisfying to make a bread-like dessert. It was a different kind of pride than when I was making Korean food.
I was like, “Look at this flavor and baking.
I felt like I had a new hobby.
“How could anything not be delicious if you made it?”
Woo Min-ah gulped and held out the madeleines. The well-puffed madeleines looked even more appetizing with their cute little belly buttons sticking out.
“Let’s eat together.”
Woo Min-ah offered me a madeleine first, so Hee-na held out her hand.
“I ate at home, so it was okay, you can have all of it, big sister.”
“……really?”
Woo Min-ah’s eyes sparkled with joy. She was happy to have Hee-na’s food all to herself.
I was pleased, rather than disappointed, to see that Woo Min-ah, who is usually so bubbly and cool, was reluctant to give up something to someone else.
“It means she likes my food that much.
As the cook, I was inwardly proud.
Hee-Na sipped her hot, sweet coffee mix and watched as Woo-Min-Ah finished off the madeleines.
Woo Min-ah stared at the fluffy madeleines and then looked up.
“Hee-na, do you want to go out for something delicious today? I’ll shoot.”
Since she didn’t have any vacation days, Hee-na accepted Woo Min-ah’s offer.
“Shall we go for meat then? I’ll grill it for you.”
Out of habit, Woo Min-ah giggled at the mention of meat.
“Hmph, anything is good, but it was even better if you grill it for me. Then big sister will shoot beef!”
“Hmph, that sounds delicious…….”
Hee-na swallowed hard as she remembered the last time she went to a meat restaurant with Woo-min-ah.
It was supposed to be a high-end Korean beef restaurant, but the meat was amazing, and with Hee-na’s ‘This is the taste’ skill, the flavor was so fantastic that it took her hands off the table for a while.
In the end, Hee-na and Woo-min-ah scraped off enough beef to exhaust the restaurant’s supply. They ate so much that the restaurant even gave them a discount.
“But it was so expensive there……. And you paid for it.”
Hee-na remembered the huge price of the meat that day. It was too expensive to be considered labor for grilling meat.
Woo Min-ah snapped her fingers at Hee Na, who was frozen in her small-town worries as if to wake her up.
“I’m Woo Min-ah, the leader of the Blue Dragon Guild’s dungeon raiding team, and I can buy you a restaurant.”
His voice sounded so rich and cool, that she was genuinely impressed.
“Sis, you’re amazing.”
“No. Your hands are better.”
The two of them were chatting away while applying gold to each other’s faces.
Suddenly, Wu Min’s eyes sharpened, and I heard a clicking noise.
“Sister, what’s wrong?”
The sudden change in momentum left Hee-na dumbfounded.
Woo Min-ah motioned for Hee-na to sit down and quickly opened the office door. The door swung open with a loud, harsh sound.
Woo Min-ah spoke in a voice she had never heard before.
“Who is it? Eavesdropping like a rat…… eh?”
But it was only for a moment. He quickly realized the identity of the person at the door.
“Huh?”
Hee-na, who had been watching the scene with trepidation, also widened her eyes. It was someone she knew well.
It was Hunter Kang jin-hyeon.
“……? What are you doing in front of my office, and what’s that look on your face?”
He stood in front of Woo Min Ah’s office with a devastated look on his face. Even if he had been stabbed by a trusted colleague, he wouldn’t have looked this betrayed.
“Hunter Kang jin-hyeon?”
Hee-na stood up and peeked her head out from behind Woo Min-ah. Then, Kang jin-hyeon’s shaky eyes fixed on Hee-na.
“I was going to come and see you anyway……. By the way, is something wrong? Your face looks like…….”
“Ms. Hee-na.”
Kang Jin Hyun looked down at Hee Na with moist eyes.
Her heart dropped to her stomach. I felt like I should apologize to her even though I hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Moo, what’s wrong?”
“I’m heartbroken.”
“What?”
Even an S-class Hunter could have an arrhythmia or something. Hee-Na panicked.
“Should I call 911 or call a healer?
It was a time of indecision.
“You said no to me, but you habitually……. with Woo Min Ah Hunter.”
“Whatever.”
Woo Min-ah’s nervousness was shattered by the unnatural energy.
However, Kang Jin Hyun was not interested in Woo Min Ah’s reaction as he was only looking at Hee Na from the beginning.
“I guess I’m not your favorite after all…….”
Hee-na was so surprised that she pulled Kang jin-hyeon’s arm in surprise.
“Excuse me, Hunter Kang jin-hyeon, wait a minute!”
“Please call me Mr. jin-hyeon. Woo Min Ah Hunter, why don’t you call me big sister more closely?”
I didn’t know what to do. Even Kang jin-hyeon’s line was enough to attract the attention of the people around him.
Fortunately, there weren’t too many passersby in the hallway, but everyone was glancing at Kang and Hee-na as they passed by. It was incredibly unnerving.
“Look, I don’t know what’s going on, but can we please go inside and talk about this?”
With that, she tugged on his arm, and Kang jin-hyeon was dragged obediently into Woo Min-ah’s office.
Bang!
Woo Min-ah slammed a cup of mixed coffee down in front of Kang jin-hyeon. Kang jin-hyeon stared down at the paper cup, looking a little sad.
He was one of the strongest hunters in the world, and looking as pathetic as an abandoned puppy was one of his abilities.
“Hey, has the excitement died down a bit?”
Woo Min-ah asked, squirming in her chair.
“…….”
Kang jin-hyeon didn’t answer. He just glanced at Woo Min-ah. There was a faint hint of hostility in his sharp gaze.
“Why are your eyes so wide open?”
Woo Min-ah snapped at Kang jin-hyeon.
“…….”
This time, Kang jin-hyeon didn’t answer. The atmosphere went from awkward to cold, with a gust of wind blowing.
Hee-na rolled her eyes at the strange air currents flowing between the two high-ranking Hunters. It was incredibly uncomfortable.
She would much rather have a one-on-one meeting with the Guild Leader.
“Hey, ……, I brought you some food, would you like some?”
After all, there’s nothing like a little snack to break the ice. Hee-na pulled out the madeleines she’d brought for jin-hyeon Kang and slid them in front of him.
“Well, I’ve been doing some baking, but I’ve gotten a lot of them……. So I brought some for you guys, and these are for Hunter Kang jin-hyeon, no, jin-hyeon, and I was going to bring them to you even if you didn’t, but you came to me like this, haha.”
Haha, awkward laughter echoed through Woo Min Ah’s office.
“Thank you for thinking of me, Hee-na.”
Fortunately for Hee-na, Kang jin-hyeon replied.
In a more relaxed mood, Hee-na cautiously asked.
“Are you upset because me and Min-ah are going out to eat meat together?”
I didn’t want to believe it, but it was the only thing I could think of.
“……Yes, that was part of it.”
Once his tightly closed mouth opened, Kang jin-hyeon began to spit out the story of his drinking.
He saw Hee-na’s message and belatedly replied. But no matter how much time passed, he didn’t hear back, so he began to search the building for any sign of her.
Finding Hee-na’s trace as a civilian was a piece of cake for the S-class hunter.
He realized that the last place Hee-na’s trail led was to Woo Min-ah’s office.
“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop. I was about to knock, but I just heard a conversation.”
Kang Jin Hyun defended himself, saying he didn’t intentionally eavesdrop on the conversation. He said the content of their conversation was so shocking that he was very distracted.
“So you had been caught pretending to be popular, and there’s no way I can find you if you hide.”
Woo Min-ah scratched her cheeks as if she finally understood.
“Then why are you so shocked and distracted by the fact that the two of us are grilling meat?”
Kang jin-hyeon’s face darkened as he asked with a sincere expression of incomprehension.
“that was …… none of Woo Min Ah Hunter’s business.”
“What, you pouty little brat!”
Kang jin-hyeon was annoyed and ignored Woo Min-ah’s words.
“Now, now. Try to calm down.”
Hee-na was trying her best to stop the conflict between the Blue Dragon Guild’s main executives.
For some reason, she felt like she was stopping children from fighting, but…… was probably an illusion.
“Why was Mr. Qin Hyun so upset that the two of us were eating meat?”
I asked as I unwrapped a madeleine and placed it in his hand, and he opened his mouth obediently.
“Since you didn’t respond to my request, I thought you were the same with everyone……. Hearing that you already had such a relationship with Hunter Woo Min Ah made me feel sick to my stomach and my mind went blank.”
Woo Min-ah interrupted with a dumbfounded look on her face.
“Hey, you know that sounds weird, right?”
