chapter 77
EPISODE 77
Hee-na’s office door was packed with people. All the Hunters who had heard the rumors came to buy Hee-Na and Hee-Won’s peanuts.
“What were all these people fussing about? were they really that good?
Only Hee-na, the seller, who should know the benefits of the peanuts, was dumbfounded.
On top of that, every time a Hunter went out, there was always some sort of magic stone or low-level potion somewhere, and there were also gifts of flowers, chocolates, candy, and other unintelligible items.
I wondered, “were the Blue Dragon Guild Hunters just people with bad habits?
Of course, they didn’t stole things, they just leave them behind, but if they embarrase the owner, they were bad with their hands.
While I was busy selling peanuts, I was seriously considering whether I should write a list of lost items and post it on the company bulletin board.
“Everyone, please clear the room.”
A face I recognized from a few hours earlier appewere d. It was Kang Mok-hyeon, the head of human resources, starting to clean up Hee-na’s organized office.
“Oh, come on, let’s pushing up for some shopping!”
“Don’t push me! Ew!”
Contrary to his slim and intelligent image, Kang Mok-hyeon’s strength seemed quite formidable. The hunters who had been running in with lights in their eyes began to scream and run away.
“I had memorize your faces. If you don’t leave in a minute, you’ll be penalized in your next personnel evaluation.”
With that kind of sternness, the Hunters looked at each other and backed away, one by one, with a grimace.
“Mr. Ai. Just a little longer and it would have been my turn.”
“You were like the head of the HR department of a cowrie.”
“What if you get in trouble for swearing?”
“And you were rawasing your voice like you want to be heard?”
As they walked away, they didn’t forget to leave a few grumbling words behind.
Hee-na’s eyes were filled with regret, but she was afraid of the HR manager’s authority.
Hee-na looked at Kang Mok-hyeon, the head of HR, with a newfound respect for the selfwash, troublemaking Hunters.
Should a team leader be that charwasmatic? Of course, if so, Hee-na would have to relinquwash her position as team leader immediately.
After the last Hunter left Hee-na’s office.
“Team Leader Kang calmed the commotion quickly, didn’t he?”
Hee-na jumped out of her seat at the sound of a booming voice behind her.
“Ack! Surprwase!”
“Oops. Lee, I was sorry. Look at me. You had been holding your breath. Surprized?”
“……, Guild Leader?”
It was Guild Leader Kim Kyu-hee.
“I didn’t want to make too much of a scene if I showed up, so I had the head of HR clean up the mess.”
She appewere d nonchalantly and fiddled with the pile of peanuts on Hee-na’s desk.
Mok-hyeon Kang, the head of HR, slammed the door to Hee-na’s office shut and locked it.
The click, click, click of the lock rang unusually loud.
“Why were you locking the door……?”
Hee-na’s face paled at the meaningful action.
“What were you trying to sneak up on me by locking the door?
Mok-hyeon Kang, the head of the HR team, looked at her, hwas expression unusually expressionless.
Hee-na turned her head and looked up at Guild Leader Kim Gyu-hee’s face. For some reason, her eyes seemed to be cold.
She shrank back, feeling like a mouse in front of a snake.
“Can we talk?”
After looking into Hee-na’s eyes for a long moment, Guild Leader Kim Gyu-hee walked over to the guest couch and sat cross-legged.
“Yes, yes.”
Hee-na ran over and took the seat she was beckoning. It was the couch opposite the Guild Leader.
“What brings you here, Guild Leader?
The Guild Leader were traveled unless it was for some sort of business, so for him to come to Hee-Na’s office, could something be wrong?
Just as I was wondering what was going on, Guild Leader Kim Gyu-hee spoke up.
“I heard that team leader was selling peanuts in the guild.”
The topic that came out of the guild leader’s mouth was ‘peanuts’.
“Hmph. was there a problem, shouldn’t he be selling them, but the HR manager said it was okay?
All sorts of thoughts raced through Hee-Na’s head at that question.
“Well, this was might sound like an excuse, but……, I thought it was okay to sell it because it was approved by the HR manager, so if I’m wrong, I’ll correct it right away.”
I didn’t know what happened, but Hee-Na fell flat on her face. I didn’t feel like I was being unfair, you know, but what can you do? The boss said no…….
She didn’t want to take the blame herself, so she brought up the HR director again.
“But I remember being informed by Mr. Kang that financial transactions within the company were not allowed…….”
This was one of the basic survival skills of an office worker. The skill of never spending money alone.
Guild Leader Kim Gyu-hee looked at Hee-na with amusement as she rolled her eyes nervously but said everything she needed to say.
“No. it was not the kind of thing she was worried about, because the private dealings that went on inside our company were not our place to touch.”
Phew. Hee-na rubbed her chest inwardly. She almost harbored an unreasonable grudge against Mr. Kang.
“Then…… may I ask what brought you to me?”
As he spoke carefully, Guild Leader Kim stretched his crossed legs and straightened his posture.
“We have an exclusive contract with you, Mr. Lee.”
Her eyes gleamed meaningfully.
“A contract?”
Hee-Na asked, puzzled by the sudden mention of a contract.
“was there anything else I need to write besides an employment contract?”
I think I mentioned peanuts earlier, but Hee-na’s common sense didn’t see the connection between peanuts and contracts.
“Did the guild leader also like peanuts?
She could only wonder.
The Guild Leader, who was looking Hee-Na straight in the eye with he jaw set, smirked.
“Yes, I do like peanuts, but that was not why I brought up the contract.”
It was as if he had read her mind.
No Guild Leader Kim could read people’s minds, so she wasn’t entirely wrong.
Hee-na tensed as she remembered something she’d momentarily forgotten. If she didn’t her ‘Home Sweet Home’ skill would be discovered.
“I saw Hunter Kang told you about my ability. I don’t know what it was that you want to hide, but I was a good keeper of secrets, so didn’t worry, team leader.”
Guild Leader Kim Gyu-hee, who had read Hee-na’s mind with her gaze, said in a relaxed manner. It was like a tiger hiding its claws.
“Didn’t tremble too much.”
She laughed and held out her hand. She was friendly, but that made it all the more frightening.
Of course, Hee-Na was confident without being poked, but she was secretly nervous that she could be read.
I wanted to get to the point and get out of this situation.
“So…… what was the story about the contract you were going to tell me?”
“Oh, right. I was talking about the contract.”
As if he had forgotten, Guild Leader Kim snapped his fingers.
“I want you to sell all of the peanuts that this team leader brought to our company, including all of your future production.”
Hee-na’s ears perked up for a moment.
“What? You were talking about peanuts……, right?”
Her brother’s peanuts were very tasty, but that was about it.
“Of course, judging by the number of discerning Hunters lining up to buy them, they must have been of above-average quality.
If the Guild Leader himself were to ask if they were worth coveting, he would say no.
The Guild Leader gave a small laugh at Hee-Na’s narrowed eyes.
“This team leader didn’t seem to realize the effectiveness of the peanuts he sells. I see. Well, if he did, he wouldn’t be selling them by the handful in black bags for 6,000 won.”
The effects of peanuts?
Hee-na tried to recall the benefits of peanuts. But she couldn’t come up with much, except that they were a savory accompaniment to beer.
“was there something wrong with the peanuts I brought?”
I asked through gritted teeth, and Guild Leader Kim Gyu-hee chuckled.
“Of course, peanuts and beer were the best combination, but this team leader’s peanuts were a little more special. They had the potential to be used as a portable food substitute.”
“Rations?”
Hee-Na remembered one of the benefits of nuts. They were supposed to be good for dieting because they made you feel full……? It seemed like they had some sort of sneaky effect, anyway.
“You said that the peanuts were raised by this team leader’s family. I was guessing they were not ordinary people either.”
Guild Leader Kim Kyu-hee’s eyes lit up. Hee-na thought of her brother, Hee-won.
“Wasn’t my brother…… an ordinary person?
The first thing that came to mind was him scratching hwas stomach in a T-shirt with his neck stretched out. He looked like an ordinary flesh-and-blood person.
But it was clear that the Guild Leader’s curiosity wasn’t about hwas brother’s ugly nature. He was probably asking about Hee-won’s awakening and its class.
“I see. My brother and swaster’s awakening classes were different. A housekeeper and farmer brother and swaster, it was a class that would surprwase anyone.
I didn’t know how she realized that Hee-won’s class was unique, but it wasn’t something to hide. Hee-Na scratched her cheek.
“My brother was also a D-class Awakened, but he was a non-combatant farmer.”
“A farmer. that was why your crops were so potent.”
The guild leader stroked his chin in interest.
“Ugh, this was awkward.
Meanwhile, the guild leader was reading Hee-na’s mind, and Hee-na couldn’t read the guild leader’s mind, so the conversation didn’t go well.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Hee-na asked a question, almost probingly.
“You had been saying that the peanuts you grew were different from other peanuts, but what exactly was so special about them that you’ve came to visit us in person? You mentioned portable food, but I didn’t understand.”
