Daphne pov:
Daphne's heart hammered inside her chest as the troll's giant body slowly fell to the ground with a loud thud.
A few seconds! That's all it took, a few seconds. Harry dealt with a raging fully grown mountain troll without even breaking a sweat. The same trolls which due to their spell resistant hide and insane regeneration abilities were used as tanks against entire bands of witches and wizards during the ancient wars. Even a squad of Aurors would have some trouble dealing with an enraged mountain troll.
Daphne doesn't know what to feel right now, should she be impressed or terrified of the boy standing in front of the unconscious troll. But one thing is for sure with Harry Potter there is still hope for Astoria, no matter how small of a chance she has but with Harry's power she can actually see her sister free of the curse that has plagued their house for generations.
While stunned like the rest of their house Daphne noticed Harry's brother Charlie slowly trying to sneak backwards, but Harry waved his wand and Charlie shot past them and the next moment the Gryffindor is hovering above ground face to face with Harry.
Harry glared at the boy floating right in front of him.
"It was Rose's idea! She said Parvati is still in the girl's bathroom and doesn't know about the troll. We ran into the troll on our way to get Parvati. It is all Rose's fault." Charlie started singing like a bird the movement he was caught.
With another twirl of his wand, Rose Potter came flying next to her floating brother.
Rose too started speaking the moment Harry's attention turned to her.
"Harry don't listen to this idiot. I said all that so we could notify the prefects or the professors. But this idiot and his friend decided to go on their own so to make sure he doesn't die I went after him. Also, Charlie was the one who tried to attack the troll, that turned the troll who was mindlessly wandering the hallways into a raging beast."
"It's her fault"
"No, it's his fault"
"Her!"
"His!"
The bickering between Harry's siblings which looked like it would go on forever but is suddenly interrupted by the professors rushing towards them.
Harry gave a look to the Slytherin prefects and two of the prefects quickly started to take the students towards the dungeons. Daphne could have stayed behind with the rest of the prefects but chose to follow the herd of Slytherins back to the dungeon.
On her way, like the rest of her house Daphne tried to come to terms with how terrifying Harry really is. Just what kind of monster has she sided with just because of a gut feeling. Even after a month of sticking next to Potter she still can't even begin to see the limits of his abilities.
Harry pov:
After dealing with the professors and his mother Harry made his towards the Slytherin Dungeon.
Even as he calmly walked to the dungeons Harry could feel his rage just bubbling under the surface. A troll almost killed his siblings and his friends today. Of course, he was not angry at the kids even if they acted in a stupid and reckless manner. Merlin knows Harry jumped into worse situations without any thought when he was their age. He is furious at Quirrell and his parasitic Dark Lord who released a troll into the school.
"Hermione almost became a stain on the wall today and who knows what else would have happened if you weren't there. Let's deal with Quirrell once and for all. Voldemort might escape but I can make sure that his turban-wearing body bag screams for hours before we finally put him down." Tom's voice said in the back of Harry's mind.
Harry suddenly stopped in his tracks and took a deep breath.
"You are right, it's too risky. We can't just kill a professor two months into the term. At least now we know where Voldemort is and we can an eye on him. Who knows what he will do or where he will come from when we kill his physical vessel." Tom reluctantly agreed before disappearing back into his mind.
Harry entered the common room accompanied by lots of starting and whispering, some looked at him in awe while others with fear. Bloody Hell! after two months all of the attention he was receiving was finally dying down but now this troll completely wrecked his chances at peaceful school life.
Harry sees that Oscar, Daphne and Tracey are sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace, the so-called seat of power in their house.
Like everywhere else in life, the four houses in the school have their own social hierarchy. Slytherin of course has the most unnecessarily complicated and annoyingly elaborate one.
Somehow Harry made it to the top without even realising it by dealing with some annoying pests that kept bugging him for no reason. Now he commands a force of nearly 200 kids which Harry has no use for.
Most of the first four years are followers with the last three years in more leadership roles, most students are members of factions which they joined either because of their friends or because of their own self-interests. Their faction tries to protect the collective interest of its members. All of these various factions vying for power and privileges makes up the entire Slytherin social ecosystem.
With the right resources or favours, a student can bend or skit around the school rules but no matter what can't break them. It might seem like a cutthroat system but it's just a bunch of kids pretending to be grown-ups
It's mostly just determining where one can sit or which faction has access to particular dorm facilities or coping essays and notes, etc.
Harry gestured with his head to Daphne before making his way to his chambers. The three quickly got up and followed behind him.
