Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Diagon Alley and Gringotts
Finally today me and Uncle Snape are going to Diagon Alley to get my wand school books and other necessary equipment that might be needed for my first year of school.
Uncle Snape stretched out his hand, and grabbed my shoulder
"[Apparaition]"
The feeling of apparation was as horrifying as always. It made you unable to breathe, and it felt as if you had been squeezed out of a very narrow rubber tube.
Luckily or unluckily for me I had already practised apparaition with the old bat before. From dawn to dusk, we would teleport from one place to another. He wouldn't even give me a 5 minute break. It made my old math teachers feel like a joke.
We arrived in front of an old dilapidated bar with black stains all over the outer walls. Because of a strong notice me not charm on the old bar, the pedestrians passing by didn't notice the bar at all. Alrough the spell worked only on muggles, it was still quite a useful spell for keeping you out of trouble.
Without a word Uncle Snape headed towards the bar seemingly disgusted and wanting to get out of there as fast as possible, I quickly followed.
The people inside were dressed very strangely some wearing strange wizard hats and capes while others clothes that could probably date back to the early 19th century.
Uncle Snape and I went towards a small courtyard surrounded by walls, where there was nothing but trash cans and weeds. Quite a boring place for an entrance to the grand Diagon Alley.
"Remember the sequence as I am not gonna show it ot you again"
The old bat was going as fast as he could pressing the buttons like a chef grabbing hot buns from the oven.
He made sure that I wouldn't see a single thing by just standing in my way. With his huge stature of 6'1" my measely 11 year old could only reach his waist.
The wall suddenly started vibrating and in a few seconds a archway leading to the Diagon Alley that every Harry Potter fan wanted to enter opened.
Inside the alley was an assortment of restaurants, shops, and other sights. The streets and shops where packed with wizards and witches of all ages. A perfect place to buy all the needed items, make new memories and go on adventures exploring the places hidden in the magnificent Diagon Alley.
Firstly we headed towards Gringotts the wizarding bank where there were more gallons kept than in the hands of Wizards.
It was noticeable that all the employees weren't either wizards, witches but goblins. Due to their skills with money and finance, they controlled the wizarding economy to a large extent.
The working goblins looked at me for a moment and than continued working on with whatever were they doing.
Uncle Snape told me to stay at place and went to the head goblin and asked something for him that I couldn't hear from far away. The old goblin looked at me for a few seconds, smiled at me greedily and waved for me to come.
He called an another goblin who told us to follow him.
"I am Krackzug and today I will be doing the bloodline test for young Septimus Potter."
Without waiting for me to answer or ask questions he continued talking, "I thought that the last successor was Harry Potter but who knew that he had an older brother, this news would make a few gallons. The bank has a client information protection policy so you don't have to worry."
"The Prince family's successors position will also be handed to you since the family head has chosen you as fit for the position."
"Alright now give a few drops of blood and we will see which family or families if we are lucky you're worthy of succeeding."
Tired of all his endless talking so I quickly gave let him take a drop of blood. Luckily he was honest and didn't take a few more drops to use against me in some ritual so I was fine even though I didn't pay much attention to his dealings.
"Well we got quite a few families here."
"Of course the family of Potter."
"The family of Richelieu that has its roots in France, they are quite a wealthy family."
"And finally the house of Gryffindor, probably inserted from your father who also had the necessary bloodline but somebody else was at that point the successor so he didn't have the chance, luckily for you that person is dead."
"3 families and also the Prince family, that's too many rings too carry. We will make a special magical ring for you so that you can open all of the vaults with the same ring."
"It will be ready in about 2, if its possible you can come through later to receive the ring before leaving Hogwarts."
...
After leaving Gringotts went to get the uniforms. Since Uncle Snape thought that it would make a better i. We got six sets of plain work robes (black). Two plain pointed hat (black) Two pairs of protective gloves (dragon hide similar). Two winter cloaks (black, with silver fastenings).
In total, we brought double the clothes that were tequired for school, proving the clean freak status of Uncle Snape.
He explained that I would need multiple pairs since accidents were prone to happen especially with my fiery attitude of not letting anything slide. He wouldn't even be suprised if I had casted a slipping charm quietly on the goblin who had been very arrogant. Unknowingly to me he had done the same before I even had the idea of doing it.
I didn't need to buy school books since Snape would let me have his old ones that were riddled with notes that I could use as I was learning. His school status as the half-blood Prince status wasn't for nothing after all.
Still we went to the books shop to find a few books for research. In the end I picked out a few books about starter Alchemy, Ancient magic and one about rituals.
It took especially longer than it had to take at the potion class items shop since Uncle Snape had to get the best cauldron and it took multiple hours for him to pick one. It mad me wonder how he made any potion if it took him so long to even pick a cauldron.
Snape also bought me my own broom even though in the later it was clearly stated that broomstick were not allowed for first years. Of course he bought the sloppiness one the dust cleaner 1000.
For the pet Uncle Snape let me choose as I would probably spend the next 7 years with him. In the end I was stuck between a classical owl and a cat. In the end I chose an White Owl colored with black stripes. The shop owner told me to be careful since that certain owl had always been a troublesome fellow never listening to orders.
I was sure of my decision since the owl and decided to name the owl, "From henceforth your name shall be Merlin."
After we had got all the items needed besides the wand we headed towards the most important place in diagon Alley the Ollivanders Wand shop. Uncle Snape chose to wait outside since it was tradition for the wizard to get their first wand alone.
"It was finally time to get my wand."
...
It was a shabby little shop. Walking in I could see thousands of boxes all around stacked to the ceilings with barely any space to move between.
From the back of the shop walked out an old man with silver eyes. Without a word, he circled around me a few times and took some measures with some strange device. It seemed completely unrelated to choosing the wand.
Ollivander picked out a box from somewhere and pulled out a wand:" quite a short one 9 and a half inches Maple wood and Phoenix feather as its core."
"Give a quick wave"
As soon as I held the wand the windows exploded surprising me.
"Since destruction may seem fit to you let's try this." With a wave of his hands the windows were fixed and an another box appeared in his hands
"12 inches, Redwood and a Hungarian Horntails heartstrings."
After waving the wand nothing seemed to be happening but suddenly the roof just disappeared out of existence almost collapsing the whole building.
"A tricky customer I see, I migh know a wand which fits you," he said before heading towards the back of the room.
A few minutes later he came back with a golden box covered with what seemed to be the basilisk. It made me wonder how big the wand shop was if it took him so long to get a single wand.
"13 and a half inches, elven wood and an uknown core, but from the box it seems to be basilisk heartstrings."
Immediately after having the wand in my hands I could feel my blood rush and power flowing through my veins. It took me quite a few minutes to get control of the wand. It had quite a fiery temper like myself.
"It seems like you walking on a dark and dangerous path ahead of you mister Septimus Prince. This wand was the wand of the great wizard Merlin. It was deemed unusable but it seems like it has found a new successor. I have great hopes for you young man."
"I hope you utilise the great power of the wand for good and don't fall to the clutches of dark magic."
