Chapter 346: Plague.
After the man left with a coin purse that seemed to be dripping with gold galleons everyone around the stall had their eyes widen.
People looked at the man who had just left before looking at Loki and his ridiculous stall.
They couldn't understand if it was all a scam or something was playing tricks with their eyes.
As such one of the participants reached out to the man and caught his shoulder, "Hey man did you seriously get money fr-"
"Don't touch me!" The robbed man shouted, attracting even more attention before he pulled out his wand and started to threaten everyone who was around him, "This is mine! I got it! None of you tried when you had the time to do it! And now I have it! Don't come close to me!!!"
The man shouted as his deep red eyes shone from under his robes scaring everyone who looked at him.
The man walked a little further before he turned around a corner and almost immediately everyone heard a loud *pop* before the man was gone via apparition. At least that's how it seemed to the people there.
Instantly everyone's eyes locked in Loki's direction but to their horror, Loki was already packing up the store. He flicked his wand and brought down the lights and he stuffed them all into a tiny bag on his waist.
A woman quickly walked up to Loki and looked at him while dropping her sleeves a little "Could I take up your time Mister..?"
Loki looked at the woman and gave her a well-meaning smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry. As kind as you may be, I need to leave. I have finished my work here. Perhaps I might come back again? I might not. Who really knows."
"I promise to be worth it…" The woman said revealing herself even more but Loki only laughed softly at her display.
The entire store was soon packed into his bag and Loki was about to walk away when a few rough-looking men surrounded him by pulling out their wands.
"Are you sure about that?" Loki asked with his smile still on his face. In fact if one glanced at him the right way they would even realise that the smile felt threatening, dangerous, as if they were standing in front of a guillotine.
"You ain't leaving this place now boy…" the leader of the small rag-tag group pulled up out of the darkness.
"Boy? Ha! That's the second-best joke I'll be hearing for the rest of the day!"
One of the men felt his statement was odd and asked, "....second-best?"
"Oh, of course, the first would be when I hear you squealing like pigs."
"Hu- *Oink*"
The man hurriedly looked at his friends and tried to explain, "*Oink* *Oink* *Oink*"
Another man looked at him annoyedly and started, "What are you do- *OINK* *OINK* *OINK*!!!" before squealing the same way the first man was.
The men all looked at each other and started shouting but soon the group had entirely turned into people *oinking* at each other.
Loki looked at them all and burst out laughing as he slapped his thighs.
"Hahahahahaha~ Didn't I tell you guys? This is hilarious! Ain't it fellas?" Loki said looking at the other people around them who were positively afraid and shivering.
A few began to run away and a few more collapsed in the same place out of fear.
There were a few who raised their wands but Loki simply waved his hand as if he was grabbing something out of the air and when they finished waving their wands nothing happened.
It was as if they'd suddenly forgotten how to cast their spells.
They knew they were wizards, but this…how could they counter this? A man who could steal their knowledge of magic!
Loki laughed a little more before he slowly walked away into the darkness shouting, "I'll come back for more tomorrow! If you guys can keep me entertained like this I'll come back even more!"
The darkness finally fell and Loki vanished from everyone's sight without them even being able to tell where he had gone or even how he'd vanished.
It was as if the darkness had obeyed his commands and swallowed him whole.
The night had settled along with the fear in people's hearts, but the streets had only become livelier as the tale of what had just happened spread around the darkest parts of the alley like wildfire.
Loki who was watching everything unfold while hiding under illusions, was happy.
'Hmm…that spell I used was quite amazing wasn't it…'
Loki thought back to the method he used to make all the people in the group about to attack him start speaking like pigs.
The principle was simple.
He planted a simple thought deep into the mind of the person about to attack him first. He made him subconsciously think that he was a pig and could only speak with *oinks*.
This subconscious thought then spread to those nearby in the sea of the subconscious. Basically, when someone spoke to a person speaking in *oinks* their own subconscious would be infected by the thought.
It was a chain reaction.
Although it was funny, it wasn't something that Loki could sustain for long since he had to provide the spiritual power to keep the suggestion spreading.
In this case, the people would be affected for about a day if they didn't spread it around. And if they did, it'd last for half a day with about fifty people infected.
Loki did this so that the people would remember him when he came back tomorrow and wouldn't try to do something 'funny' again.
He was serious when he wanted to fulfil people's wishes so that he could make a wish in exchange. It was an item that might be helpful to him at his worst so he didn't want to waste any more time working on it.
"What do you think Sunny?"
"I didn't get to digest any of my potion tonight… "
"You'll get a chance tomorrow…"
"Won't the news about what you did today travel to the Ministry of Magic?"
"It will and I'm betting on it."
"Huh? Why?"
"The more powerful the people that come, the faster I will be able to fulfil strong wishes."
"What if someone you can't stop comes here?"
"Eh. I have a favour to cash in any way. And I'm pretty sure I know who'll come if we manage to make a slightly big scene."
"Whatever you say. I'm going back to my party!"
"Party? You guys are holding a party in the spirit world!?!? Why am I not invited!? And who are you holding a party with in the first place!?"
"Tsk. What do I get by telling you about-" Sunny started but changed his tune when he saw a gold galleon flipping on Loki's fingers, "Me, the Snake, the orange cat and the unicorns…even a few tree people you hang out with were invited."
"Orange Cat? Crookshanks? How do you know her?"
"Met her on a walk during the night…"
"I seriously need to know what you're doing on your night runs nowadays…"
Sunny didn't say anything and only grabbed the coin in Loki's hands before stuffing it into its pouch and walking away into the spirit world, leaving behind an exasperated Loki who was forced to return empty-handed back to Hogwarts.
