Chapter 251: Chapter 248 - The Grindelwald Plan (4)
"It looks like the biblical beast." Asterion commented after seeing the Sea Beast's appearance. Its body resembled that of a snake, but its head was vividly reminiscent of a dragon, and its powerful jaw hid hundreds of razor-sharp teeth capable of shredding anything.
"This is the monster that terrorized our Hive. If it hadn't been for him, the elders wouldn't have worried every hundred years." Tinker Bell spoke, looking at the monster with a terrified expression. It was the first time she had seen the monster that had terrorized her Hive for thousands of years.
And she had to admit, it was more terrifying than the legends she had heard of before. The sense of malice and cruelty could be felt all too clearly.
Asterion blinked and looked at the Sea Beast with a deep and somewhat shocked gaze, for the second time he felt the same familiar feeling he had seen in the Sand Worm he had encountered at the Dragon Races. The Special Grade Cursed Spirit in front of him gave him the same feeling as the Sand Worm.
"Another artificially created Special Grade Cursed Spirit." Asterion muttered to himself. An absurd idea flashed through his mind and refused to go away.
It was a hypothesis about the origin of Cursed Spirits that was gradually forming in his mind. And every time he analyzed the hypothesis, he was sure that something was incredibly wrong.
Cursed Spirits were not generated naturally, but were the creations of humans?
The idea was so ridiculous and crazy that if Asterion published the thesis all over the planet, everyone would call him crazy for proposing something so irrational.
It was commonly known that Cursed Spirits were generated naturally in cities, just like any animal, but instead of reproducing, they were only born from the negative emotions released by humans who lacked magical energy, or rather, possessed a tiny amount of magical energy.
"But if we think that magic has no end, it's quite possible that we humans created Cursed Spirits and lost control of them at some point in history." Honestly, losing control of something so important was very possible in Asterion's eyes.
Humans are flawed and hate to show their ugliness, even to themselves. Hiding one's mistakes was natural for every human being.
It wasn't hard for Asterion to assume that this human history had been erased so that they wouldn't be crucified or condemned by the entire human race in the future.
Taking a deep breath, Asterion pushed these dangerous thoughts to the back of his mind and didn't want to think about it anymore. It was as crazy an idea as creating a god of his own.
Stepping forward, Asterion submerged himself in the lake while a shield of blue energy surrounded his body. Magic without a wand was becoming more and more familiar to him, although he still preferred the wand, as it saved him a lot of calculation and processing power. Which was crucial in a fight.
Tinker Bell looked terrified watching Asterion's actions, she didn't have time to get off his shoulder and dived into the lake against her will.
She clung to the locks of Asterion's dark hair and looked around with a look of fear and curiosity. The landscape beneath the water made the little fairy marvel, something that hadn't happened for a long time. However, her curiosity only lasted a second, as she saw Asterion getting closer and closer to the monster!
"Can I go back? If he eats me, I can't even fill in between his tooth spaces..." Swallowing dryly, she asked in Asterion's ear with a tremulous tone.
Asterion ignored the cowardly fairy and arrived twenty meters away from the Sea Monster. Looking closely at the monster, he concluded that it had been made using a similar process to the Sand Worm, although with obvious differences, showing that it was made by two completely different civilizations.
"That level of Negative Magical Energy... is close to Jörmungund." Asterion muttered to himself, finding it incredible that such a thing could be created artificially. As far as he could remember, it had taken him more than twenty major cities to make Jörmungund.
The process took months and he returned to the Black Mansion exhausted from traveling between cities, but the rewards were just as great, he had the strongest Special Grade Cursed Spirit before the creation of Morgan itself.
However, in front of him was a being of a similar level to Jörmungund, made by methods he didn't even know or have an idea of how such a feat was accomplished thousands or tens of thousands of years ago.
Suddenly, a pair of reptilian eyes opened, the beast's pupil sharpened as it stared at Asterion with an icy, emotionless gaze, something quite rare among Cursed Spirits, as even Grade 5 Cursed Spirits had some emotions such as fury, pain, fear and desire.
Asterion remained indifferent to the beast's gaze and concentrated on his surroundings. From what Tinker Bell had said, he knew that this lake was the lake of the legend told in the Arthurian Tales, meaning that the Excalibur he had seen earlier had been made in this place by fairies and the goddess Vivian herself.
Logically, the goddess's residence should be in this place, but no matter how hard Asterion tried to feel something, the whole lake didn't emanate a trace of magical energy into the air. It was as if the place was dead and completely devoid of life, even animal and plant life.
"Of course, it could be because the Special Level and Divine Level are very different in terms of power that I can't sense anything." Asterion muttered to himself, looking at his surroundings with a pensive gaze.
"Not only have I been unable to determine the status of the Goddess at the moment, but I've also gained countless questions. Damn scientist habit." The trip to the Great Lake had proved to be of little help so far, which made him let out a helpless sigh.
"But it wasn't entirely without gain." He continued, turning to look at the Sea Beast, which was still staring at him with a dead, emotionless look, almost as if it was evaluating something.
Asterion noticed that look and fixed his gaze on the creature, he couldn't help but show an expression of interest. From the monster's eyes, he sensed small amounts of magical energy! Yes, Magical Energy, not Negative Magical Energy!
If anyone heard that he had encountered a Cursed Spirit that had Magical Energy, many would have thought that he had drunk gallons of beer and seen something impossible.
The two energies were completely opposite and would annihilate each other when they came into contact, one of the reasons why the exorcism of a Cursed Spirit was possible at the hands of wizards.
Approaching the Beast, to the sheer horror of Tinker Bell, who hid in Asterion's hair while watching everything with curiosity and fear, it was incredible that this little fairy could have so much confidence in someone she had just met a few hours before.
Without knowing what the little fairy was thinking, Asterion had approached to within a few meters of the Cursed Spirit and stood in front of the creatures' gigantic eyes.
"It's a type of liquid glass, but it allows the storage of magical energy, almost like a scanner device." Asterion said to himself, curiously observing the structure of the monster's eye with his Second Innate Technique.
"It's analyzing me to see if I'm a threat or not." With a smile on his lips, Asterion stretched his hand forward and exorcised the sea monster without any hesitation.
An enormous blue dome surrounded the gigantic figure of the Special Grade Cursed Spirit and began to decompose its body at great speed.
Then, under Asterion's surprised eyes, he felt no resistance from the Cursed Spirit! Looking into the Cursed Spirit's lifeless, emotionless eyes, Asterion was confused, but continued the process without hesitation.
With the Sea Monster, which he called Leviathan, he had two specimens to carry out his research on later.
Looking at the blue Orb in his hand, Asterion didn't hesitate and swallowed the Orb, his throat showing an obvious lump before the swallowing sounded particularly loud.
The taste was still as horrible as you'd expect.
Think of the worst taste you've ever had in your life and multiply it by ten and it won't even come close to the taste Asterion felt when he swallowed the Blue Orb.
Seeing the huge monster disappearing, Tinker Bell flew to Asterion's side and looked at him with extreme admiration in her eyes. She had never seen someone so powerful in her short life of five hundred years!
In her eyes, Asterion had raised his hand and the monster was defeated!
How could Tinker Bell not be shocked, Asterion was stronger than the elders of the Hive.
