Chapter 226: **Chapter 222: Haibara Ai: Go Ahead If You Want to Act!**

Fujino leaned against the doorway, slightly tilting his head upward.

After a moment of silence, he reached up to remove his mask, revealing a delicate face beneath the hood.

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a glow on his face and the white robe draped over his body.

He turned around and delivered a powerful kick to the wooden door behind him.

**"Bang!"**

The door was forced open by the immense strength, crashing into the room.

Haibara Ai was startled and quickly turned her head, only to see a figure standing outside the door.

The white robe fluttered slightly in the wind, and the moonlight bathed the white-clad figure.

Even though the room was adequately lit, she couldn't clearly see the face under the hood.

The white hood seemed like a barrier, preventing any light from penetrating the boundless darkness and gloom underneath.

"You..."

Haibara Ai stared at the figure before her, her eyes slightly wide with astonishment. She couldn't shake the feeling that this person seemed familiar.

"Just get some rest..."

Fujino used a voice modulator to utter a muffled sound as he slowly approached Haibara Ai.

At the same time, he turned his wrist, drawing a bat-shaped shuriken from the hidden compartment in his sleeve.

"Are you from the organization?"

Haibara Ai snapped out of her daze, chuckling bitterly as she shook her head.

Why had she momentarily entertained the thought, *"Could this person be here to save me?"*

How absurd.

She sighed softly, taking two steps back before stopping again. Raising her head, she cast another assessing gaze at the white-clad figure before her, a steely determination now visible in her eyes.

Haibara Ai: "If you want to act, then just act!"

Fujino: "........"

Why did this scene feel strangely familiar?

Since she had said as much, he decided to make his move.

Before she could react, Fujino grabbed her arm.

With a light slash of the bat-shaped shuriken, he left a shallow cut on the back of her hand.

Her mind grew foggy, and her eyelids felt as heavy as lead.

An overwhelming sense of powerlessness washed over her, and her petite body collapsed to the floor.

"Leave the rest to me."

Fujino reached out, supporting her back, and gently picked her up.

Half-conscious, Haibara Ai felt as though she had returned to that rainy night.

She didn't resist; instead, she closed her eyes slightly, enveloped by a familiar sense of safety.

Her body curled slightly, and her hand instinctively tugged at the hem of his robe, pulling on it lightly—

Like a sleeping infant.

"Hey! Haibara, answer me quickly! They've already reached the hotel entrance!"

At that moment, a voice rang out.

Fujino glanced down in the direction of the sound and spotted a pair of black-rimmed glasses.

They had to be Conan's glasses...

"So they even have a communication feature. Dr. Agasa truly is something else."

He sighed, stepping forward to stomp on the glasses, grinding them underfoot.

By now, Gin and Vodka were probably already downstairs.

They would be coming up soon.

He remembered that Pisco hadn't yet revealed Haibara Ai's transformation into a child.

Still, to be safe, he needed to stage a scene to prevent the organization from discovering her secret.

He recalled that there was baijiu (Chinese white liquor) around here.

"If it's baijiu..."

Clearing his thoughts, Fujino turned to scan the storage area while carrying Haibara Ai.

Before long, he spotted the baijiu stacked on the shelves.

He reached out to take a bottle, glancing at the unconscious Haibara Ai in his arms.

By now, she was completely asleep. The bat-shaped shuriken's effects were still potent—she wouldn't wake for at least another thirty minutes.

"Thirty minutes should be enough."

Fujino opened the bottle with one hand and pinched her nose, pouring the baijiu into her mouth.

Afterward, he focused his mental energy on the spirit body he had left in the soul conduit earlier.

Dressed in a black robe and wearing a mask, the spirit body, stationed on the rooftop, leaped down through the chimney.

**"Thud!"**

A sudden noise came from the fireplace behind him.

Fujino turned around, plucking a strand of hair from Haibara Ai's head before handing her over to the spirit body.

The spirit body accepted her, then stepped back to the chimney, leaping upward and returning to the rooftop with Haibara Ai in its arms.

"Next, it's time to settle the score with that guy from the distillery..."

Fujino activated his Eagle Vision. "That old man's codename should be Pisco, right?"

---

On the other side, Gin and Vodka had already arrived at the hotel and made their way to the storage room via the stairs.

"Pisco isn't here..."

Vodka glanced at the kicked-down door and the empty storage room, muttering, "We agreed to meet in the parking lot in 30 minutes, but the guy hasn't even sent a single message. The only thing here is his computer, according to the transmitter. But come to think of it, what's he doing in this liquor-storage room?"

"He probably prepared this place just in case," Gin speculated, scanning the surroundings. His gaze stopped at a strand of brown hair near the fireplace. "If any unexpected variables appeared during the mission, he'd likely take action and hide the body here..."

"Boss, there are cops swarming outside," Vodka reminded him. "We should get out of here fast."

"Hmm..." Gin murmured. Without saying much more, he turned to leave with Vodka.

However, just as they stepped out, Gin suddenly changed direction and started heading upstairs.

"Boss, that's the way up," Vodka pointed out. "The way down is over here."

"Heh... That woman, Sherry, is on the rooftop," Gin said with a cold chuckle as he ascended. "The door's open—she's probably trying to mislead us. There's a strand of her hair by the fireplace. My guess is she's trembling on the rooftop right now, waiting for us to leave so she can make her escape."

"She's practically digging her own grave," Vodka laughed, following close behind. "If that's the case, all we need to do is head to the rooftop, and she'll have nowhere to run. You're sharp as always, boss."

"A snowy rooftop—it's a fitting place to execute a traitor," Gin remarked, glancing out the window at the falling snow. "White snow dancing in the night, stained crimson with fresh blood... It's beautiful, isn't it?"

After a pause, he sneered again. "Sherry, I've been dying to see you."

---

Meanwhile, Fujino had already used his Eagle Vision to locate most of the individuals in the hotel based on their vital signs. He had pinpointed where the police were interrogating the attendees of the memorial service, as well as Pisco's exact location.

Pisco was an older man with graying hair, wrinkled skin, and a perpetual cigarette in his mouth. Although he was well past his prime, his energy and spirit were as sharp as ever.

After leaving the interrogation room, Pisco intended to return to the storage room to continue keeping an eye on Sherry.

But as he turned a corner, a white figure suddenly appeared behind him.

Before he could react, a silver blade from a wrist dagger was pressed against his throat.

"Don't move," Fujino said coldly, holding the blade steady. "Pisco."

"?!"

Pisco froze in shock. His eyes darted to the gleaming blade, and cold sweat ran down his back.

He couldn't figure out who this person was or how they knew his identity.

Even though he prided himself on being a loyal and capable veteran of the organization, with decades of experience under his belt, he knew one thing for certain: the man in front of him wasn't bluffing. If he didn't comply, he would die.
