Chapter 7: Chapter 7: A New Path

The air was heavy with grief as Jace and Kirito emerged from the dungeon, their steps slow and burdened. The sun shone bright above Orario, a sharp contrast to the darkness they carried within. Wordlessly, they made their way back to the Hestia Familia's home.

Hestia waited for them at the entrance, her usual exuberance replaced by a quiet anxiety. When she saw their bloodstained clothes and the absence of their companions, her hands flew to her mouth.

"Where are the others?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Jace's face was pale, his eyes red-rimmed but hard. "They're gone," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Kade, Lyra, Mira, Orin... all of them."

Hestia's knees buckled, and Kirito caught her before she fell. Tears streamed down her face as she clung to him, her sobs filling the room. Jace stood silently, his heart heavy. The pain in Hestia's cries mirrored his own grief, but his mind was already churning with resolve.

When Hestia finally calmed, Jace spoke. "Lady Hestia, I need to leave."

She looked up at him, her face streaked with tears. "Leave? What do you mean?"

"We've lost too much," Jace said, his voice firm despite the sorrow laced within it. "I need to explore the world, find new allies, and grow stronger. If we're going to ensure the Familia's future, I need to recruit more members and learn everything I can about what lies beyond Orario."

Hestia's lip trembled, but she nodded. "If that's what you believe is best, I won't stop you. But promise me you'll come back."

"I promise," Jace said, his voice steady. "I'll return with the strength and allies we need."

Kirito stepped forward. "I'll stay here and protect the Familia in your absence. You can count on me."

Jace clasped Kirito's arm. "Take care of them."

The next morning, Jace set out. The city of Orario faded behind him as he made his way to the port. The journey to the coastal town was uneventful, giving him time to reflect on his fallen comrades and the new path he had chosen.

At the harbor, Jace boarded a ship bound for the country of Melromarc. As the vessel sailed across the vast sea, he overheard snippets of conversation among the crew and passengers.

"Did you hear? The King of Melromarc summoned the Four Cardinal Heroes," one sailor said, his voice brimming with excitement. "It's said they're destined to save the kingdom."

"I also heard rumors about Britannia," another chimed in. "In the Kingdom of Liones, a new group called the Seven Deadly Sins has been formed. Some say they're heroes, others say they're criminals."

Jace's ears perked up at the mention of these tales. Heroes, both summoned and shrouded in mystery. The world beyond Orario was far more complex than he had imagined. His heart stirred with curiosity and determination.

As the ship sailed on, Jace stood at the bow, gazing out at the horizon. The wind whipped through his hair, carrying with it the scent of salt and the promise of new adventures. The road ahead was uncertain, but he welcomed the challenge.

"For Kade, Lyra, Mira, and Orin," he whispered to himself. "I'll make sure their sacrifices weren't in vain."

With that resolve burning in his chest, Jace set his sights on the shores of Melromarc, ready to face whatever awaited him in this vast, unpredictable world.
